Reading the book, I had no problem with the elf, but after listening to the hoardes of fan girls comment on the "sexy, tall, light-footed elf-hunk" I can't help but barf at the thought of Legolas. So, how much do you hate him?

Do you guys realize how funny htis thread is? No really, after reading through the whole thing I was laughing to see how many people truly LOVE Legolas, and how many truly HATE him! Come on people, get a life!

Here is my take on Legolas (and other elves)

The first time I read the books Legolas was my favorite character. I mean, he was just so cool! He never needed to sleep, he could see the color of some ones hair from miles away; he never missed his target when firing a bow, and he was more beautiful than any mortal man. Now this is all from the books, and I know there is more!

The Legolas in the movie was just a visual example of the character in the books. He matches all the obove. Let's face it, Legolas is just COOL!! It's no fault of his own that girly elf lovers worldwide have to drool all over him!

I really like Legolas! I think he IS really cute, I mean, you've got to be really dumb not to admit that! But I don't LOVE him! I do think he is the coolest though (In a cool kind of way)

As for other elvs... I'm glad they didn't pick the guy who plays Haldir to play Legolas... and that's all I have to say about that!

When I first saw Orlando Bloom I thought he was ok, as in 'not ugly' but I couldn't see him as an elf. Then I saw him made up as Legolas and thought he looked pretty ...good ;) but I knew there was going to be trouble because he was much 'too pretty' if you know what I mean. I knew women would drool and swoon and faint while the men around them looked on in disgust.

Aragorn or Bormir they could understand women admiring...heck...they could even understand Frodo but that girlie elf? I don't know how many guys said the only thing that saved that character for them was the fact that he was such a good kick butt fighter. If he hadn't been there would have been no mercy..

I don't hate him. I think he's rather cool but I do understand completely how he could get on someone's nerves, but then again I'm partial to the elves...

I don't think there's anything wrong with lusting/sweating/swooning over a certain character esp. Legolas. I mean he was the one that attracted me to watch LOTR in the first place and if it wasn't for him, I would have never become a Ring addict..whether that's a good thing I'll leave it up to you guys.

However, I do see way too many threads dedicated to him consisting of "Oh he's so hot/look at his thigh/I wanna marry him/He's Mine!!" and so on and so forth and it detracts from other interesting topics which it sometimes lessens the whole beauty of what LOTR is all about. I mean face it, there were other hotties besides Leggy if you know what I mean. :naughty:

I stress this again, there's nothing wrong with liking Legolas but I think we should keep the lusting to a healthy dosage.
