Yeah, Monsters Inc. is Disney and Pixar.
Oh yeah, I like the Emperor's New Groove, too! The Little Mermaid is a good one. I don't really like the second one very much tho. I love to sing the songs from Disney, too.

My all time favorite is and will always be, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I do have to agree with Teddy though, Beauty and the Beast is one of the best. Last night I saw Lilo and Stitch for the first time.... Splendid and it made me cry mecry....As did Tarzan's beginning and Monsters Inc's ending (and when Sully makes Boo cry mecry) I love all of them...And if you're looking for the Disney movie that has it all......Boxing, dancing, romance, buddies, father son relationships, even murder pfbbt.....Lion King!!! (Bambi too for the nostalgic Disney lovers...);) :) lol roflmao

I absolutly love The Lion King one and two. I wonder if they will make a Lion King 3?
One movie that doesn't get noticed for Disney very much is The Great Mouse Detective. That's a good movie, but I haven't watched it in a long time. That sounds like a good idea, too.

Yep. it's Disney and one of the good ones too. Swamp Fox is a great one with Leslie Neilsen, he's grand in it. My favorite of the historical series is Johnny Tremain. Oh and also the cartoon Me and Ben, with Sterling Holloway as the mouse. I love Sterling...he's the Pooh man!! And Ka, Stork in Dumbo, several other roles and he's wonderful in all of them...best of all in Pooh!!!lol lol ;) lol lol

I haven't seen my top three mentioned yet. Jungle Book, Fox and the Hound("I'm a hound dog!"), and of course my favorite. . . Robin Hood. Shoot, now I'm gonna hafta go watch all three right now.

December 19th,2002, 03:29 PM
I loved Monsters inc! Little Devil is right - Boo is so cute when she says "MIke Wasowski!"
But then, i am a mad Disney fan... i have all the animated ones, except, for some bizarre reason, Dumbo. And i love Dumbo! Must have words with someone...
My all time faves include Hercules (James Woods rocks as Hades!!) and Beauty and the Beast (have got special edition DVD - it's fantastic!) I've seen the stage show of Beauty and the Beast - it is REALLY good! Have the soundtrack, and the new songs are great.
I also loved stage show of the Lion King - the music and the costumes were just SO good!
I also like the Hunchback oif Notre Dame, although that doesn't seem to be a popular one. Maybe it's coz i love Paris, or maybe it's the music - i really like that.

The Emperor's New Groove is the best! I laugh every time I see it. Yzma and Kronk are hilarious.

December 29th,2002, 05:37 AM
Oh, I used to love Disney as a kid! I loved all of them...except these newer ones. Some I've seen, some I have, but don't own.
I loved the early ones. Let me see...The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Aladdin were my faves of all time, though all the others I loved nearly as much. But those...good gracious! lol The best for me!
I only saw Mulan once, that was good, Tarzan was interesting (it made me read the books...very...interesting...). Monsters Inc. was hilarious and Toy Story was cute. I think we stopped buying them about 1997 I think...we partispated in the crazy Baptist Boycott...I was young and impressionable. I didn't like Disney for so long because they supported gay people...no offense to anyone here who might be that...but alas, that's what happened. But I grew up and got over it.
And found that I still love Disney movies. They helped forge me into who I am, I think. Expanded my imagination. I still have MANY of the originals...a couple dozen, I think. Haven't watched one in ages, tho.

i can't decide on one favourite disney film, so i'll pick my top three, which are:
1. lion king
2. toy story 1 & 2
3. a bug's life
it's a shame recent disney films have gone downhill, but hopefully disney will pick themselves up again v. soon!

January 9th,2003, 11:56 PM
ok i have to come clean and admit that the only Disney movie i have ever liked was Fantasia.......but that was pretty cool............specially the devil sequence.........that had me openmouthed as a kid..........and still does now.......the drama of it and the way they intergrated the music........a great piece of animation........a pity they never matched it, before or since......
:catz:
Ronin
January 10th,2003, 11:08 PM
u're right...no Disney movie has ever matched Fantasia...but, i did enjoy some of their "earlier" classics...just nothing out recently has ever compared to one's only out a few years ago, and thats pathetic
Catz
January 10th,2003, 11:24 PM
ahh well.......theyre trying to appeal to too wide a market and be too "hip" i think.........and have lost their soul.........the whole Disney thing was always a little retro..........being self conciously "modern" kind of screws that up, but they have nothing to take its place

 No surprise there then... You don't think that classics like Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping beauty and such match Fantasia? Sure, Fantasia is one of the best, but i think its unfair to say no other Disney has matched it pfbbt :naughty: lol
Catz
January 11th,2003, 10:06 AM
totally different levels actually......Fantasia was an exercise in the most advanced techniques of animation as well as being incredibly daring for the time.......Lady and the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty are pleasant movies yes.......but they arent groundbreakers......so no.........IMO i DONT think that any Disney movie has matched it.....and thats a pity.

January 11th,2003, 10:32 AM
I like Disney movies, especially Beauty and the Beast. I also love Fantasia (the old one). :p Disney these days, however, makes too many "2" movies. There are so many of them I can't count! Little Mermaid 2, Peter Pan 2, 101 Dalmatians 2, Lion King 2, Bells of Notredame 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, and there's Jungle Book 2 coming out! The quality and plot of these films aren't good at all!
Ilmarė
January 11th,2003, 10:35 AM
Was replying to Ronin's quote ... but other input is always welcome. Yes, i agree Fantasia was advanced... a groundbreaker ...but i don't necessarily think that is enough of a reason to make it superior to the others. Technically, yes, but as a viewing experience... i don't agree.
It is a pity that modern Disney movies are so disappointing tho... and they really DON'T match the ones Disney himself had a hand in.
Catz
January 11th,2003, 10:43 AM
yes i know....but he was agreeing with something i said.......and as a viewing experience taken with its soundtrack i think Fantasia takes you far further than any of their kiddie movies could, since there are no limits placed on the imagination....it was in short a far more adult piece.
i would agree however that the quality of Disney movies has gone downhill over the years tho...the heart is no longer there and a certain cynicism seems to have crept in......there is a place for irony in movies.......but i dont think that place is a disney movie
:catz:
Ilmarė
January 11th,2003, 02:15 PM
Maybe it is more adult.. but IMO that doesn't make it superior. Ech... we all have our own opinions... which is a good thing:thumbs:
To me Disney just isn't Disney anymore... not in the true sense... it lacks the heart that the older Disney films do.
Little Devil
January 11th,2003, 03:35 PM
Same here, the one that doesn't seem to have changed that much and I still love is Winnie the Pooh. ;)
Ronin
January 11th,2003, 04:31 PM
i love Winnie too!! coolest gift, or one of them, i ever got was the original Pooh tale translated into Latin!!
ach, Fantasia is in a class by itself....and Disney, just another corporate giant right now...why do u think Disney VHS and DVD are only sold for certain amounts of time?

Lintefaniel
January 18th,2003, 06:41 AM
No she means Fantasia 2000 but yes Finding Nemo is Pixar and will have whales too....I am in love with Lilo and Stitch!!
Like Ilmarė said most of the recent Disney things lack the heart of the older films. But truly, the cinematic releases fair better and compare closer to true Disney soul then the unusual and IMO unneccesary sequels. They seem to have been popping up since the creators of Land Before Time decided to go "sequelized". Whatever prompted Disney to go into this craze one cannot say but I would prefer they improve upon the daily cable cartoons and series they put out then to attempt to duplicate upon grounded masterpieces. Disney was about educating people while giving them entertainment. Somehow the Disney of today has lost that!
Also IMO the Hunchback of Notre Dame faired close to the core of what Disney was getting at with Sleeping Beauty and Black Cauldron. Closer still was Fantasia and Snow White. In my opinion, he is the one of the pioneers of Arts and Entertainment of the 20th Century. And you don't have to agree...;) I don't mind at all....(just don't be mean ok ;) )
Catz
January 18th,2003, 09:07 AM
lol im never nasty just cos someone disagrees ;) disagreement is what makes discussion so interesting
when i said more adult i meant less in the sense of themes more in the sense of not being quite so linear and with less chance of falling into the sickly sweetness trap.......now i know some people feel that Disney was sweet and innocent tho i cant help thinking that a lot of that comes from fond memories ot their own youth......i dont necessarily think that childrens film or literature has to be all sweetness......even as a child i preferred Roald Dahl to Disney......but then.......i was an odd child ;)
whatever floats your boat really lol.........tho i think we are all in agreement that the latest offerings from the Disney studios smack of assembly line production..........lol or maybe were not heheheh

:catz: I have to agree with you there.
I was thinking about what I meant when I said Disney was a pioneer (as I watched Lilo and Stitch for the second night in a row...:wiggle: ) and I realized exactly what I meant! He was revolutionary! He was inovative with the art of Animated Cinema! No matter what the story was, it was how he brought it to the screen. Like I said, he was teaching us something while he entertained us. In that aspect Disney is still holding true... to a degree. But there are simply some things that don't need improving.
Ronin
January 19th,2003, 05:55 PM
Lilo and Stitch...perfect example of a cute film, but one that failed utterly to capture any magic or warmth. but Disney was a visionary, that much is absolutely true...and to a degree the company maintained that.....Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia (loooove it), Sword in the Stone, Fox and the Hound, Snow White. but now....its just marketing....there's nothing there for me now.
Pixar on the other hand...is really just amazing. Disney's lil' gift.
Roald Dahl...love that man, wish more of his books were turned to true cinematic adaptations
