Who's your favorite hobbit? I looove Pippin. He is so funny and lovable, but brave. :p He is an important part of the story. Merry comes next. I like Frodo and Sam, but their roles are serious. roflmao

Hobbits are the most important characters in the story! I wonder why PJ's making men so important in the films!pfbbt pfbbt pfbbt

Hobbits are the best of the free people in Middle Earth (aside from elves!).

well men are important, part of the whole plot was Aragorns return to gondor.

as to hobbits, my fav is Merry; he gave the witchking a wound which helped Eowyn defeat him, next would be Pippin.

i dislike how you cast pj in a bad light for making men 'prominant'... for one, tolkien did so as well, for two, they are worthy of it. more worthy than hobbits, hobbit play a role in this one small period of middle earth... even elves play a bigger role in the whole picture... men are inheriting ME, every other race's time is closing... and this isnt the topic anyway so ill shut up about men for now.

hobbits are adorable and cute and sweet and i love them as well :loveyou: my fav is frodo, ofc

Pippin!! I've always had a soft spot for Pippin, ever since I first read the books. I suppose I identified with him more (me being the 'baby' of my family lol ).
I love the way he grows as a person throughout the books, to the point where he is given responsiblity and becomes a knight.

Frodo, because I admire his way of getting through the journey in the book. I found the way he talks fascinating. He doesn't talk like other hobbits, and uses a fair choice for words. He's wise-I love him. (Talking more about book Frodo, but movie Frodo may be included)

:loveyou:

(Notice I used present tense because -FRODO LIVES!) :whoohoo:

Sam is my favorite Hobbit because of his undying bravery, and his is a loyal and true friend throughout the entire series.

I was just about to write that Sindarin! lol

Sam always has been my favourite! I'm mean Frodo is great and all, he means to do his job to protect the Shire and Middle Earth, but Sam does everying for one reason and one reason only.......

Because he loves his friend!

How kewl is that!

Well, Illu and Sindarin both beat me - Sam is my favourite too - he has the qualities that everyone wants in a friend - to be there always, no matter how difficult life can get - thats a measure of a true friend. I know one or two people who think Sam does what he does because thats his job, but how many people would be willing to do something for an employer that could mean facing death? I know I wouldn't for sure. Its as Illu says, he does it because he loves his friend. And yep thats pretty

I always have to go with Merry - not just for his bravery when facing the Witchking, but for his role in the scouring of the Shire.

Meriadoc the Magnificent - can't really argue with that!

My favourite hobbit is Merry. For the reasons stated, the Witchking and the Scouring, but not only and not mainly.

The reason I like him is his personality, or at least what Tolkien decided to show from it.
And the fact I think was maybe most important – he was the one who prepared the leaving of the Shire, without him the whole thing would have failed before starting…. Frodo could have never left without the preparations and there was no time for them.
I like that he was the one to take the walk in Bree, the one who looked at maps and so on in Rivendell… I can find tones of quotes to illustrate what I mean by personality… but I guess you’d get bored… and I’m too lazy lol
And btw I can’t help saying that I think PJ ruined Merry in FotR…

Frodo, of course !
Whatever he is: in the book, or in the film.
Frodo for his kindness,
for his way of feeling concerned with others,
(also for his way of feeling different from others)
for the way he loves his friends,
for the way he talks (a lot of wise)
for his courage
and a lot of things more...

Frodo conquered my heart immediately... why?
A lot of things are already mentioned here, just as his wisdom and kindness, the way he manages to carry his heavy burden, the friendship with Sam that is not to be broken and their loyalty to each other.
I love his purity and his vulnerability...:loveyou:

I've been away from this thread for too long! It's good to be back! :) Oh, and sorry if I offended anyone by exalting hobbits when I made this thread. I wasn't myself, you see. I was shocked to see my own words when I came back to this thread. I was quite upset about the changes made in the TTT movie, and what's worse, I can't see it till March! mecry mecry Anyway, so sorry if I offended you, Tar-Ancalimë! ;)

I agree with you, Iarfirithwen. It took me some time before I decided Pippin as my favorite hobbit! roflmao Each of them are so different with many qualities! I love them all!
