I know he's not sci fi but he's brilliant and his characters are always in tumultous situations of the heart. Whether it's first loves, lost loves, childhood intolerance, or growing up with crazy relatives, he never fails to bring a new aspect to a life we may never get to live. My favorites are: A Prayer for Owen Meany and The Hotel New Hampshire. Setting Free the Bears and A Widow for One Year are also excellent books. Cider House Rules is brilliant and the movie does a better job of telling the story then some of the others that have been made into movies (e.g. Simon Birch :whoohoo: and Hotel New Hampshire pfbbt )I highly recommend him but I haven't found anyone who feels the same. I am just hoping some of you might have heard of him.....and how do you like him? :)

It's one of his latest ones and it's kind of a mix of love story / murder mystery. Although, they seem the lesser of the story then anything. The character is a journalist and sort of at an empass in her 30-something life. She takes a trip to Amsterdam to do some research on a new book and witness's a murder. It's a brilliant story and I highly recommend it. It's been a couple years since I read it so I hope I am not confusing you....I'll make sure I got the story right and let you know....;)

Ender's Game? Do tell what is that?....(You're welcome, and i was mistaken....it's about a boy and a girl!! I don't remember which is the one about her witnessing a murder, but this one is a great novel about a guy who slept with the "widow's"mother when she (the widow) was 4 years old....I looked it up on Amazon if you're interested....I'll let you know about the other one
;)
