There is a whole section devoted to the Silmarillion in the Library Of Minus Tirith.
Probably not that much detail of what the story is about there.. but lots of detailed arguing over interpretation!
Basically the Silmarillion is the prequal to both the Hobbit and LOTR. It tells of the beginning of Middle Earth, how it was formed, how it was populated and what happened to the eldar peoples of middle earth . Basically it is the History of Middle Earth and will introduce you to all the characters and ideals of what has gone on before. It is for me Tolkiens greatest book.
Now I will leave this here for a time..However the mods for this section may move this topic if it starts to gather momentum!
All I can finish with is READ THE SILMARILLION!!
