yes! minority report was awesome! i loved the part where Tom's character was talking to the lady who made the pre-cogs and he was asking her which was the strongest or something, and she was like "the female, of course"

Without a doubt this is one of my favourite movies. Better than Blade Runner in my opinion.

I think there will be a sequel. If you think about it Tom Cusise used the drugs and then had a kid so when that happens you produce another telepath person.

I don't know if there will be a sequel, because it was based on a short story, but it was nonetheless a great movie!!!

eeeeeew

i HATED it!! pfbbt

eeeww so much gratutitous violence... thirty minutes into the movie, I was like, ok, gonna walk out of this one and go see star wars next door  i didnt but i wanted to....

tom cruise is hot but it was horribly done.

sure, the ending was happy so to speak, but c'mon, it was just... predictable

:elfeek: waaaaaaay too much unnecessary violence. i mean, how many times do we need to see a guy stab a gal's eyes out with a pair of sissors???

*sheesh* only if you like waay too much violence and tasteless effects (like what was with the eyeball change?? did that have to be so horrible??) should you see it

Minority Report is definetly one of the best movies I've seen! It's got a great plot, very imaginative, but at the same time the scenario is believable in some not so distant furture. The actors are wonderful, and Spielberg/Cruise did a swell job on making this film. The special effects are just awsome! I don't know about you guys, but of all the films that are made, I don't feel the urge to own an watch many of them repetedly. This is, however, one of them!!!:stomper:

ok Tar, that was both condemnatory of both the film itself and those who enjoyed it. u didn't like it, granted...but come on, they are just ur tastes. which...lol...aren't that fantastic ;) joke!!!

personally, enjoyed the hell out of this one. had a great story, amazing thematic and symbolistic machinations. admittedly it was a little slick, but to be honest...didn't truly hurt the movie all that much. and quite agree Cuiel...the FX were spectacular.

Tar...u considered MR too have too much violence, then honestly u don't get too see too many movies. the violence inherent within the movie was quite justified and followed the explicitness of the plot. now granted, the sound was amplified during the fight scenes...much like in Air Force One...too make everything seem all that more, effective.

lol...guess i like tasteless effects eh? lol

Tar-Ancalimė
October 27th,2002, 02:47 PM
it wasnt either justified, and when i go see a horror movie with tons of violence, i go to see it for the violence, not the plot or anything. MR was not supposed to be a violent movie, i expected nothing like that sickness from it. i had higher hopes for such a great idea, director, and actors.

about the condemnatoriness ( im aware of the fact that this is not a word) of those who enjoyed it.... lets practice what we preach here man... and stop calling us silly gits who like aKT... ;)

lol i guess you do lol joke!!!

I'm not into violence, not at all! And it seems rather terrible to say this, but some stories are told because of the violent things that happen to people; I mean, if everybody in this world were kind and happy, that would be just great, but their stories would never have come to written in that case. You wouldn't have Lord of the rings if it wasn't for Sauron, eh? I don't like excessive violence, but I didn't think MR had that. (Actually I felt a little nauseous with all the sick sticks, but that hardly qualifies as hard violence.) But I also thought it was funny at times, I laughed so I nearly fell off the chair when Tom Cruise ran down that hall, trying to catch his eyeballs! And that's quite important, making it a little morbidly funny inbetween all the serious stuff that was going on!

I wouldn't say the ending was that predictable and it was clever how he was set up at the end. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but it totally made sense. This is, in my opinion anyway Tar, an amzing furture noir film and if anyone likes Speilberg, Cruise or the genre, then you should see it.

well said Cuiel...some sense of reason i think ;)

but thats just it Tar...while we were certainly not going into a horror flick, i think any knoweledge of what MR was all about was that it was an adult, very adult film. about the loss of a man's son to the unkown, his wife because of himself, his own descention into drugs....and the job that consumed him. honestly, if u were expecting a g-rated family film....u deluded urself highly.

and honestly, sickness? that is a really, really harsh word.

lol....i never used the word gits...u did tho ;) lol

ahhhh children ;)
Ronin stop winding up Tar...and Tar, you didnt like the movie, thats cool....but just cos you didnt like doesnt make it a bad movie ok?
and no polls lol....what he means is hes the only smart *** here lol lol.....play nicely Ronin
actually i quite liked it, but i thought it was a bit simplistic....the ending was pretty much telegraphed....and really i didnt like the "happy ending" much....i think a society that had condoned what had been done to the empaths would certainly not have let them go so easily.....BUT....the girl who played Agatha......worth the ticket just to see her performance....she did so much with so little...and the film was paced well and was very slick....maybe a little too slick, but what id expect....i didnt think it was too gory....hell there were opportunities galore for gore fests, but they werent taken....the gore was there to undescore the desperation of the situation and did that well i feel.

:o children?!

j/k

I agree with you, it was worth it to see Agatha... she was good, and that scene in the mall...superb...I give you that ;)

and hey, to someone who doesn't like it, yes it is a bad movie... not to everyone, but to me

Cuiel Rilwen

I'm cool with that, and I like a good disgussion. What a boring world this would be if we all agreed on everything!

Ronin
October 28th,2002, 10:48 PM
sad that some people can't carry on eh? ;) lol

ok, ok...*grumbles, gritting his teeth*...u know, u always take away my fun! should try and become mod again just to spite u :batty: roflmao
and why no poll? afraid of the truth? hehe

at least we can agree...Samantha Morton (Agatha) was amazingly brilliant in this flick...so much the opposite of Tom Cruise and while i liked both, Report was far the superior film simply because of her performance. and btw, one of the best one-sheets of the year!

Catz
October 28th,2002, 11:52 PM
never mind mate....theres always someone to argue with.....nicely ;) lol
and hey, if you take back modding that means i get to act up and you can follow me around the board soothing the ruffled feathers, stead of me having to do it:naughty: :p lol roflmao lol
and i know the truth;) lol

lol nothing like being able to argue..nicely lol roflmao .... and if you do take up modding again... you'll have plently of us girlies to follow around... smoothing ruffled feathers. We'll all make sure of that;) ... gotta give u something to do;) lol lol

i loved minoriyt report....how can anyone say that it was predictable or there was too much violence? it was a really clever film.....and the girl agatha was the girl in U2's eletrical storm video.

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 01:58 AM
bloody hell, i think for that reason alone...i'll avoid modding again like the plague! argue nicely eh? this...i must admit...is a new concept to me ;)

know the truth do u? lol...perhaps we both do.

right on BG, and Agatha was played by Samantha Morton...gorgeously expressive lady

heheh perhaps we do indeed;) lol
and you used to argue nicely with me.......course if you didnt i shredded you......but thats beside the point:rolleyes: ;) lol
and i say it was predictable cos to me it was....tho ive read SF extensively...so it wasnt that new a plot to me really......elements of it were, but others werent.....tho thats ok, cos i didnt really see it as a whodunnit, but more a study of Cruises character, as he descends into desperation.....that i think it did quite well, and Cruise surprised me with his performance...hes not a favourite actor of mine usually.....overall i think it succeeded.....

well...having four razor-sharp claws pointed to the base of my neck...hell, it'd inspire anyone to talk all purty! lol
well, predictable in that sense...most plots of today, and even 600 years ago are woefully predictable. that which makes them interesting and even original is indeed character studies, the dynamics of certain personalities, the depth of critcism, and the application of technology. While MR combined most of these....have to agree, Spielberg's latest was essentially a character study of Cruise's character. Cruise, while not my favorite actor, earns a lot of my respect from previous movies....and does so again here. the scene with his "child's abductor"...was heartbreaking...and all too realistically showed the depth of Cruise's character's madness...or depression, whatever u like to call it ;)

Catz
October 30th,2002, 03:11 PM
yeah agreed.....heheheh and dont you jes talk purty alright....specially under duress:naughty: ;) lol
i think MR worked well for the most part too....i mean for a moment there i was wondering just what the truth was....or whether Cruises character was just psychotic...perhaps not as confused about it as the director would have hoped, but still enough to reinforce the web of truths the character found himself in....so i think it succeeded in what it attempted

so tom cruise is hot  that doesnt make a movie. charcter studies are fine, if they'd left it at that.

and no, just in case anyone is wondering, i DONT know what im talking about...i never do :p

well this was an interesting discussion, and no, I wasn't just playing the devil's advocate, I really don't like it much. but i see i am like the only person in the world who thinks that... except my father, but what kind of recommendation is that :rolleyes:lol

yeah, have to agree...myself, was confused by the logical progression of events in MR, which i always relish...being intellectually challenged - well, not so much...just, well...being led down a path to which the right answer doth not lay ;)

and argue on Tar...we love those who challenge
