Alright Recruit, welcome to Boot Camp. Dawn says loudly.

You step in here, and you'll never be the same! Lurch yells, Dawn shakes her head. She pulls him aside, and whispers to him.

"You're not supposed to tell them that!" She whispered angrily. She turns away from Lurch, and smiles sweetly.

"When you enter Boot Camp, you're a recruit. The highest rank is Commander. Only I will reach it. And I'm already there." She says, then turns to Lurch. Lurch continues.

"The highest rank recruits can reach is Lance Corporal (LnCrpl). You start a recruit, become a Private First Class (PFC), then a Experienced BCer (EBC). (:p)" Lurch stops, and looks at Dawn.

Dawn looks back at him. "What are we going to do until they show up?"

[Fairawen]

"Commander!" says a small, female hobbit in travel attire that quickly walks through the door, "I would like to join."

Attitude according to me: Suspicous of anyone when first met, but will be friend til the end if know well.

Attitude according to others: Lurks in the shadows and is hard to strike up a conversation with.

Bio: Has a grey cloak and a dark green dress along with a small sack of all of her belongings.

Record: Unknown, for not many people have the chance of talking to her, she either stays out of sight or kills the ones she sees not fit to live.

Motto: The heart goes where it wishs.

"Hmm..." says Lurch. "There's only one recruit here, I'm not sure what we can do, now that the others haven't shown up."

"Then we'll make the lil' hobbit do some push-ups!" The voice was from a 986 year old blond she-elf called Winyaél Greenleaf. She's a sergeant of the WOTR Boot Camp, which is just 2nd in position to Dawn.

"So soon?" said Dawn.

"Well, just hop to it! Fairawen! You don't look quite fit enough anyway, young hobbit! The training will do you good!" said Winyaél.

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn looked at her sergeant impatiently. "I'll make the desicions around here, and I say the hobbit hasn't even filled out her paperwork. We can't make her do push ups yet.'

Winyaél, you may be the sergeant, but I would have preferred that you asked me first. Thank you.

"Darn humbag." Winyaél grumbles. "I forgot that Lurch got promoted."

"So you'll settle the paperwork." Lurch shoves a pen and some documents into Winyaél's hands.

(Hey, am i supposed to sign up at some thread or something? I really dunno, cuz I've participated in other rpg threads and it's like we juz pop in, or they tell us to put down our bios. If there is some special requirement, eg.have to PM or reg in another thread, maybe you shoould post it at the very 1st post of this thread where you write the rules and regulations)

Dawn watches as Winya reluctantly takes the paperwork. Dawn arches an eyebrow and then takes the papers.

Winya, why don't you go start supper? I'll take care of the paperwork. Dawn half smiles and motions to Fairawen to follow her.

[Fairawen]

Fairawen follows, but, of course, has no idea where she is going. But, though she does not do this often, she trusted Dawn.

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn threw a look with frightening implications to Lurch and then pushed her office door open. Her office was somewhat spacious, and decorated in many shades of blue, green and brown.

Her desk was wood, painted a light greenish-blue. Dawn sat down in her chair behind her desk and motioned for Fairawen to sit in the wooden chair in front of it.

[Fairawen]

Though she wasn't sure were she was, she enjoyed the look of this spacious room and was obliged to sit down in in the, to her, beutiful wooden chair, even though it was a bit large for her.

[Dudeawen]

"Fairawen!!" shouts a ragged, tired looking young hobbit as she rushes through the doors to the office. "Do you have any idea how long I've been searching for you?!" The young hobbit shrieks while waving her slender arms (uncharacteristic of hobbits) about frantically. "How could you leave me back there in the Dead Marshes!!" She cries, her bright blue eyes staring spitefully into Fairawen's. "What is this place anyway?"

[Fairawen]

"I didn't leave you!" Fairawen said as she stood, totally forgeting where she was, "I told you to follow me, you just ignored me!"
She pointed an accusing finger at the new hobbit. "And this place," she said stretching her arms wide, "Is where I was going, I'm going to get some training!"

[Dudeawen]

"Good!!" The young hobbit screams. "Because if you can just leave your faithful companion in an awful place like that, you need training!!!" She shouts while shaking a fist at Fairawen. "Do you know how long it took me to get out of that place?! No, no . . . just leave me in the dust . . ." Dudeawen babbled on while shaking her head.

[Fairawen]

"I thought you were following me!" Fairawen screamed louder, "Personally, it was partly because of you I was coming here, I thought we could train together!" Fairawen threw her arms up in the air, "You really think I would leave my own sister in the Marshes on purpose?"

[Dudeawen]

"Hmm . . . I wouldn't put it past you." Dudeawen mumbled while glaring at Fairawen. "But . . ." The hobbit sighs, calming down a bit. " . . . I suppose, that since you're my sister, I'll give you another chance." Dudeawen shifted her gaze towards Dawn, who had a most peculiar expression on her face. The young hobbit squirmed uncomfortably, "So . . ." she squeeked "Where do I sign up?"

[Fairawen]

"HAHA!" belowed Fairawen as she held her stomach and slapped the floor, "A tight situation calls for unexpected responses, eh Dudeawen?"

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn had been watching the entire exchange with a slight hint of pleasure. 'Sisters.' She smiled slightly and then leaned back in her chair, patiently waiting for them to finish.

When Dudeawen turned to her and asked where to sign up Dawn reached into a desk drawer and pulled out a thick pile of papers.

'I'm going to need your complete family history, complete with birth and date dates. I'm also going to need your blood type and your thumbprint.' Dawn smiled sweetly and then pulled out a piece of paper. She handed it to Lurch and he disappeared.

[Fairawen]

"I suppose I should finish mine." Fairawen said, "I jumped a little TOO quickly at the chance to train."

[Dudeawen]

Dudeawen's face was now a hot red, she took the papers hesitantly and began to nervously scribble down the required information. She pushed the papers back to Dawn and pressed her thumb onto a nearby multicolored stamp pad, that had been sitting invitingly on Dawn's desk. Dudeawen jammed her thumb against the top sheet of the fresh stack and stood back. Her hands fiddled with her ankle length, dusty skirt as she peered curiously at her sister's papers.

[Fairawen]

"Hey, I didn't look at YOUR papers!" Fairwen said, yanking her papers out of Dudeawen's view as she finished. She followed as her sister had done and there were then two finished paperworks in front Dawn.
"And, by the way, how did your dress get so dirty? Look at mine," she stood and pushed aside her grey cloak to reveal her dark green dress, "Mine isn't half as dirty as yours! She pointed at Dudeaen's dress.

[Dudeawen]

"Well, it's the filth of experience, and if SOMEBODY hadn't taken off like a bolt of lightning and left me there to fend for myself, then maybe I wouldn't have had to experience so much of it!" Dudeawen shouted, her face growing redder by the moment. "And, " she added. "I'll look at any papers I want, you're still my sister and I'm still 5 years older than you."
"Immature little beast." she added under her breath.

[Fairawen]

"EXCUSE ME?!?" bellowed Fairawen, "I believe I'm the one who has been in many more a plight and escaped than you, Dudeawen, so I should be calling YOU the immature one!" She pointed at Dudeawen angrily, "And," she continued, "I believe that it does not matter my age, and that I DID NOT LEAVE YOU ON PURPOSE! Why, if you believe that I DID leave you on purpose, would I?"

[Dudeawen]

Dudeawen stomped angrily and towered over the place that Fairawen sat. "YOU escaped many a plight? Y- YOU?!" she stuttered angrily. "If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have even had to start on this impossible journey.!!" she screamed down at Fairawen, who was flinching ever so slightly at every word her sister spat. "It was I, who used some brains and brought along the tools that saved us from many perils and while you may be stronger and I admit, maybe even a tad more resillient than I, we would be nowhere without my foresight and social skills, which you so obviously lack!"
"And," she added with a snort. "It doesn't matter if you left me on purpose or not!! You still did leave me, and did not excercise enough patience or waryness to realize I wasn't there! SO, WHO'S THE IMMATURE ONE?"

[Fairawen]

"A tad?" she said, smiling up at her beloved sister, who she had arguded many a time with, so therefore was used to this, "I believe I am not only resillient, I am steltier, and better at handling the sword! And what tools would those be, my dear sister? Would it be perhaps most of the things that were soooo heavy we had to leave most of them on the way? And, maybe, those extra swords that our enemies took in the night? That they would have probably cut our very throat with if we had not come this way instead of anywhere else?"

[Dudeawen]

"Yes, but you do not have my skill with the bow! You also do not remember the food and supplies that saved our skins many a time! (I'm also a better speller! roflmao) I must admit that I might have gone teensy bit overboard, but at least I was prepared!!" Dawn, who had been sitting quietly for sometime now, suddenly rose.

[Fairawen]

Both of you Shut up! Fairawen and Dudeawen looked at her in awe.

With all respect, I think you should get on with your push-ups. Lurch added, handing Dawn a packet of papers. Dawn set them down on her desk and looked at the two hobbits.

You may go now. She sat down and began leafing through their paperwork.

[Fairawen]

"Excuse me Commander," asked Fairawen, "But, you mean go and do push-ups, yes?"

(I'm a little confused!)

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn smiles at at the hobbit and looks up from her papers.

Yes, go do 300 push-ups before supper. She watches as they leave and then turns to Lurch, looking at him expectantly.

They're on their way. He said criptically. Dawn nodded in pleasure and then turned to the paperwork.

I didn't expect them to take me seriously. She said, quickly reading through the list of ancestors the hobbits had written down. Lurch read over her shoulder and then laughed.

Hobbits will be hobbits. Dawn laughed with him.

[Fairawen]

Fairawen and Dudeawen continued doing push-ups, huffing and puffing all the while. "What kind of cruel person would enforce such punishment?" Dudeawen cried after falling to the floor, exhausted. Fairawen rolled her eyes in response. "Don't they seem just a little bit creepy to you?" Dudeawen implored.

Of course not. Welcome to boot camp. Lurch says quickly. Dawn nods.

'Win!' She calls loudly.

'Win! We've got another job for you to do!'

[Shieldmaiden]

Shieldmaiden: *blinks, looks around* Soo...what do you guys want me to do?

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

'Win! Oh, forget it. Lurch, take this recruit to my office and have her fill out her paperwork. On second thought, I'll do it. You go find Win.' Dawn said as she headed back into the building.

She turned around and looked at the new recruit.

'Are you coming?'

[Shieldmaiden]

*Shieldmaiden tries to look ready*

'Yes, Sir! I mean, ma'am.'
*Starts following Dawn to office*

*Aside to Dawn*
'Lurch is an Uruk-Hai? How did he get out of having to find those halflings?'

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

'Lurch is my personal assistant. And he's not a full Uruk, therefore Saruman didn't think he was strong enough for battle. So, Saruman gave him to me.' Dawn finishes as she pulls her office door open.

Shieldmaiden nodded slowly and sat down in the chair Dawn pointed to. Dawn pulled out a small pile of papers.

'I'm going to need to know your grandparents names, your parents names and your siblings names. If you have any, that is.' Dawn interjected before continuing.

'Also your blood type and fingerprints.' Dawn said, gesturing to a black stamp pad sitting on her wooden desk.

'I'll leave you to fill out the paperwork.' Dawn said as she stood and walked to the door.

[Halindir]

An elf casually walks through the door. It was Halindir one of the best swordsman and marksman ever to live in Arda. "Is this place in need of a weapons master" he asks.

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn looked at the Elf and was silent for but a moment.

'Not really. But I suppose you could stick around if you want.' Dawn said off-handedly as she disappeared into a small gray building.

[Halindir]

"I guess I'll stick around, but just as an obeserver," Halindir says, "Do you guys have an archery range around here?"

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn catches the last phrase as she closes the door behind her and locked it.

'Yes we have one. Can you use it? Let me think about that.' Dawn mumered to herself as she pulled a small leather bound book off her bookcase.

She thumbed through it and made several notes on a yellow piece of paper. She placed the paper in her bottom drawer and slammed the drawer shut.

[Shieldmaiden]

Meanwhile…

*Shieldmaiden picks up a pen and starts on the paperwork*

“Grandparents? Let's see...Grandpa Tanorod and Grandma Voranca are the parents of my father, Lostcollo. My mother's, Melyanna’s, parents are Grandma Seerefea and Grandpa Aragroth. Siblings…younger brother, Nildolion.”

*She thinks carefully about the next item on the paper*

“Blood type? Elven. Of course.”

*Shieldmaiden picks up the stamp pad and starts to apply her fingerprints to the paper*

“Huh. These people think that my name is actually Shieldmaiden. It's not. But everyone calls me that because I refuse to let anyone know my real name, lest those confounded water horses track me down and threaten to sweep me down a river again, just because I was teasing them...I wonder if Lord Elrond ever found out it was me who got them angry?”

[NOTE: No, I'm not talking to myself! All of this dialogue is actually thinking. Also, look at my bio in the recruitment office if you’re confused about the water horses.]

[Halindir]

Halindir strolls outside and looks around at the establishment. "Nice place you have here," he says aloud, "Where can I can I find a nice place to stay around here?"

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn looked around her office and then decided to check on Lurch.

'I left him where?' She said to herself. She was silent and then noticed him walking into the gym. She dodged Halindir and pushed the green door open.

'Lurch! Have you found Win yet?' Dawn called to him. The Uruk turned towards her.

'Nope. No sign of her anywhere.' Lurch reported. Dawn picked up a shotput and threw it into a nearby trash can.

'Wonder where she is...'

Still waiting in Dawn's office

Shieldmaiden looked around at the office. Bored, she put her head back to stare at the ceiling. It had holes in the tiles. Seeing the newly sharpened pencils on Dawn's desk, she formed an idea...

Wait...probably not a good idea. I wouldn't want the commander to be ticked at me on the first day...

But boredom overtook her and she grabbed a pencil, aimed it at the ceiling, and threw it like a dart into one of the holes.

"Score!"

A sudden noise outside, which sounded a lot like a heavy metal object being chucked into a trash can, startled Shieldmaiden.

"Oh crumbs!" She turned towards the window. Nothing else happened. Sigh "Okay. Now I guess I better get this pencil out of the ceiling before anyone catches me using it as a dartboard..."

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Lurch shrugs as he picks up a dart and throws it into a nearby Legolas dart board.

Dawn laughs and throws three at one time, all of them hitting Legolas' nose.

Lurch cringes and Dawn walks out.

'Well. If you do see her, please tell her I'm looking for her.'

Mostly we just have fun RPGing. I started this thread to help people become comfortable with RPGing with people that have hidden motives...

Dawn pushed her office door open and shot a glaring look at the back of Shieldmaiden's head.

'What are you doing here?' Dawn asked tersely as she threw out her hand and made the pencil fall into Shieldmaiden's lap.

Shieldmaiden scrambles out of the chair and stands up straight, soldier style

Um, you told me to fill out some paperwork and now I'm done, ma'am!

Dawn raises an eyebrow and narrows her eyes

Sigh I suppose I should drop and give you twenty?

'How about twenty thousand?' Dawn asked icily as she sat down at her desk and began booting her computer.

'Just get out.'

[Shieldmaiden]

Shieldmaiden saluted rather awkwardly

'Yes ma'am!'

She exited quickly, glad to be out of the office after sitting there for so long.

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn watched the recruit leave calmly and then turned back to her computer.

She pulled up a document named 'Untitled' and quietly read its contents.

Her eyes flashed red for a second and then she shut the document.

'We're behind. Where's Lurch?' Dawn stood from her chair and walked to the door of her office.

Laethe walks into Dawn's office
'Reporting for duty, Commander!'

Tora shouted and saluted Commander Dawn.

Dawn scanned the grounds for Lurch and sighed angrily as she walked back to her desk.

'Servants aren't...' She was interupted by two recruits walking into her office and saluting her.

Dawn raised an eyebrow quizzically and scanned the recruits faces.

'At ease.' She said quietly as she walked around her desk and gracefully sat in the chair.

'Fill out these forms.'

[Telumehtar]

Laethe turns to Tora, whispers, glancing over at Dawn to make sure she hasn't overheard
'More forms?!?'

Yes ma'am!
Whispers in Laethe's ear
I know what you mean, is this a paperwork
office or is this a boot camp.
The two grab the papers and walk away slowly.

Tora and Laethe walk down long hallway, clutching paperwork. Laethe whispers to Tora in an undertone, shuffling papers
'Lurch is the only one that gets any fun jobs...all I've done since I was recruited is paperwork! Speaking of Lurch, have you seen him?'

Dawn watched the recruits leave with a certain degree of hatred on her face.

'Only until I finish...only until I finish.' Dawn climbed onto her desk and slid a ceiling tile aside. She climbed into the ceiling and gently replaced the ceiling tile.

Dawn stomped once and the roof slid aside above her.

Dawn climbed onto the flat roof of the main office building and crawled to the edge of the tan roof.

She spied the recruits sitting on a bench not too far away and chuckled quietly as she saw Lurch walk towards them.

'Welcome to Boot Camp.' Dawn heard him say.

'I'm here to assign you your duties and training times.'

'Let's get to work.'

Telu (or Laethe, whichever) frowned, her brows furrowing. She brushed her hair back wondering what in Middle-Earth general duty was.

Laethe said joking around.
Oh very funny, your not so fun to be around

'I only speak when I have something important to say.'
Replied Laethe, without emotion.

Laethe asked, looking quizzically at Tora.
'Do you know what Lurch meant by general duty? I hope I don't have to deal with the Commander at all; she's a bit odd...'

'Hello.' Dawn replied icily.

'I've been called in to Head Quarters for a week-long conference. Lurch has been assigned to accompany me as well.' Dawn paused and turned on her heel.

'You'll be on your own for a week.'

*cat returned from the erm.....eating.....tent.....thing, whistling a tune, she passed a jeep, running her fingers along the bonnet and stopped, inspecting a scratch*

"Of course. She hates everyone,"
Laethe replied with a scowl.

Laethe said, with a wry smile, in response to Cat's arrival.

or the Commandar will stomp it off.
Tora said and looked at Cat.

'Uh, Tora? You okay? You seem a bit...put out... lately.'
Asked Laethe with concern, with an apologetic smile to Cat.

Put out? What the heck do you mean put out?
What the heck is wrong with you? Why are you questioning

Tora snarled

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

Dawn pushed the helicopter door open and leaned out, noticing boot camp in the distance.

'We'll drop here.' She yelled to Lurch as she stood and began adjusting her parachute. Lurch nodded uneasily and followed suit.

A moment later Dawn waved farewell to the Elf piloting the helicopter and stepped out the door. Lurch nodded farewell and slowly stepped to the edge of the door.

He took a deep breath and suddenly jumped from the chopper.

Ten minutes after Dawn had reached the moist ground Lurch landed and Dawn shook her head.

'Let's just get back to boot camp.' Dawn said as she watched Lurch try to refold his parachute.

'Oh.' Lurch said as he slowly released the chute and began following Dawn.

'Come on. Let's go see what the recruits did to the camp.' Dawn called over her shoulder as she walked into a small cave.

'I'm glad we put this in.' Lurch said as he walked to the four wheelers parked in the cave.

Dawn nodded tiredly and fired up her black and white wheeler.

'Quickly.'

*cat yawned and returned from the eating tent thing*

The young shieldmaiden wanders out of the mess hall...then she spots her fellow recruits. Her eyes widen when she realizes that they've all got their assignments. Making sure her fatigues aren't stained with stew, she rushes outdoors to talk to them.

'Uh...hi guys...um...I've missed out on assignments, huh? How's the commander's mood?' she asks as she approaches the others. 'I think I may have ticked her off earlier when she found me in her office, still waiting to turn in my paperwork. Would it be a good time to ask her or Lurch about my job?' The girl wonders why no one ever tells her anything. :(

Really? Well I got in trouble and they were going to lock me
up in there little jail, like I can't get out any person can. But really,
the point is I basically chosed to be here. It's kinda funny, I can

The young shieldmaiden watched as the other recruits went off to the mess hall.

'Well, no point in me going back for another meal...the cafeteria lady will probably clout me with her ladle,' she thought. 'Maybe I should ask the commander herself about my assignment...' About a second later, Dawn and Lurch rounded the corner of the mess hall. They looked preoccupied.

The girl sighed and surreptitiously slipped away to her bunk. She would wait until the commander's mood improved . [I]Or, she would just be caught not doing anything and be sent to work. That seemed more likely.

'What are we going to do Lurch? They want to come tour the camp next week! We haven't even assigned all of them duties yet!' Dawn said as they rounded the corner of the mess hall.

'Well, we have to get ready.' Lurch said as he shut his wheeler off and got off.

Dawn growled quietly and walked into her office.

'Get me a list of all our recruits.'

'Hello Tora! Hi Cat!'
Said Laethe as she caught up with them, smiling.
'What are we doing?'

cat giggled and brushed a stray hair behind her ear, the loudspeaker bleeped and screeched niosily, feedback causing everyone to put their fingers in their ears, cat followed suit, trying to look innocent, tora grinned "sounds like someone's been playing with the loudspeakers again!" she winked at cat, who grinned and rolled her eyes "If they try to play that 'happy song' one more time, I swear I'll kill the system entirely!" she dodged the electricians as they darted out of the mess hall and ran for the circuitboard in the general's tent

'Everybody listen up! I want the two-way speakers finished next week. Our client is getting anxious. I also want three of you to train the new recruits to do the more mudane aspects of keeping this camp running.' Dawn said as the technicians entered her office.

The technicians stared at her blankly and then several of them nodded.

'Get to it!'

cat smiled innocently at the general "got you, general..."she frowned "but what did you want me to do?"

The shieldmaiden walked out of her bunk to get some air. She spotted a strange-looking guy in a technician's jumpsuit. In no mood to talk to him, she tried to find a way to escape his sights, but it was too late. He saw her and started approaching her.

'Uh...hello? What do you want from me?' she asked, squinting against the sun's glare.

The guy looked at her blankly. 'The commander wants you and the other recruits to be trained to run this camp. Follow me,' he ordered. The girl shrugged and trudged after him reluctantly, dragging her boots in the dirt.

"Okay, Tora...start talking again so I can interrupt you..."
says Laethe with a grin

Cat bit her lip, she was aware that the general had either ignored or not heard her.....she sat down as the woman walked away and drew out a small leather bound book and began to read, tora spotted it, but cat hid it
"oh, it's nothing, just a book....my father used to make notes of his days in the army, I always keep it with me....it's his diary really."

Meanwhile...

The shieldmaiden followed the technician, who then pulled out a liablility form and handed it to her. She looked it over.
'Um, do I have to fill everything on this form?' she asked fearfully, eyeing the blank next to the word 'NAME.' She had a thing against giving strangers her name.

The technician rolled his eyes. 'Yes, you do. And you have to put your signature so that we can't be held responsible for any injuries you may receive during training.' The girl blinked. 'My name? I'm not at liberty to give that out...' The technician glared at her impatiently. 'Look, missy, you're holding us up here. Just fill out your form, give us your name, and get it over with! Or you'll be slapped right out of boot camp.' The girl narrowed her eyes at him and snatched up a pen. 'Okay, sheesh, you don't have to get your long johns all up in a bunch,' she muttered under her breath. Reluctantly she signed her name on the form: Hysewyn of Edoras.

Hysewyn thrust the form at the technician. For a hired worker, he sure fancied himself important...

Dawn smiled as she watched the technician deal with Shieldmaiden.

'Remind me to give Thomas a raise in pay.' Dawn commented to Lurch as he tried to hold back his laughter.

Dawn shoot him a serious look and he quit.

cat frowned you think? surely lopping someones ear off is something you'll have heard you'd done....they felt it.....or should do.....cat didged as another jeep came through Gees, traffic today!

"Stupid Jeeps. But it wasn't my fault, she started the whole thing...anyway, have you seen Shieldmaiden? I think she was dealing with the Commander, and you know how that goes..."

Dawn glanced out the window to see two new recruits. Lurch started toward the door but Dawn shook her head.

'No more paperwork.' She said quietly. Lurch nodded slowly and glanced out the window again.

'I think it's lunch time.' Dawn said as she glanced at the clock on her wall.

Cat frowned "err.....hello....and I have no idea, I'm still waiting for briefing"

Hysewyn watched the technician, who turned his back to her to put away her liability form, with her fists clenched at her sides. She imagined herself slapping him for being such a jerk, or better yet, giving him a good kick with her heavy boot. But she restrained herself. There would be other opportunities for that, she thought. For now, she would follow his orders.

Feigning calmness, the shieldmaiden of Rohan asked in a polite tone, 'So, what does the commander want me to learn first?'

The technician grunted and said, 'I'm going to go talk to her now. Stay in this tent!' He walked off.

Hysewyn ignored that last thing he said and went outside. She saw Cat and another recruit that she didn't recognize. Approaching them, she smiled and said, 'Hey guys, what's new?'

cat frowned "tannoy's on the blink again...more recruits..not much else"

"whoa, so many new recruits! anyone care to...well, you know...test their skills?"
Laethe asked, pulling out her sword and whipping it from hand to hand while lifting one eyebrow

Tiniwiel grinned.This was something she knew.

'Hmmmm... Well, Now I can see if my Uncle really did teach me well....'

She softly slid her blade from it's sheath, passing it from hand to hand, and widening her stance. The slender blade shone as it moved, and her smile widened.

'Not my favourite of weapons, but I do know how to wield him.'

cat stood back, keeping watch for the general, the tannoy sounded again, voice mingled with far too much feedback and awful screeching, the group winced in agony, cat bit her lip and shook her head "technicians have no idea what they're doing!"

[Shieldmaiden]

Hysewyn grinned and tried to ignore the tannoy. 'Got that right, Cat. Ooh, that Thomas character, the one that walked out of the tent before I came out, he's such a jerk! The way he talks, it's as if he's a freaking general or something.'

She stood back to watch Laethe and Tiniwiel practice their fencing skills, and was about to join in, when she noticed that jerk technician approaching in the distance. She sighed. 'Well, guys, I better go on back to that tent before that Thomas guy starts finding new reasons to scream at me,' she said, and reluctantly made her way back to the tent before he could see her.

Tora still chasing the jeep.
"I'm going to run my legs write out my sockets."
Tora told her self while trying to catch up
with the jeep with the frightened hobbit in it.
"CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING!"
Tora yelled at the hobbit
"I can't touch the peddles."
Said the hobbit who was pale as a ghost.
Tora finally got the back rale of the jeep and sung her body to the passenger seat.
"Alrighty you jump in the back."
Tora took the wheel and swirved around alot of screaming
recruits. By doing that she almost ran into Dawn.
"SORRY!!!!"
When she finally stopped the car it was write infront
of the wall of the mess hall. She waved to Cat and Laethe
who were sitting next to the window.
"We are going to get in so much trouble."
Tora said to the hobbit

cat nodded at shield maiden as she escaped and moved to a safer place to watch the two sword fight, chuckling at the narrow escape with the jeep, which had been entertaining to watch

"tora, what did you do to that poor hobbit?!?"
Cried Laethe over her shoulder, her sword hissing through the air, the sun glinting off the steel. With a quick flick of her wrist, she shifted her sword to her right hand and pulled a dagger from her boot with the left, her long hair flying...

"Nothing, I tuned the brakes on too high and then she was
assigned to drive. The jeep was a run away. I had to
chase after the darn thing."
Tora said as she hopped of the jeep and she got the poor
frightened hobbit down.

cat chuckled and cheered with the other watchers as the dagger was taken out "laethe, I demand a duel when you're done there!"

"I would like to try her first."
Tora said and grinned. She took out her sword
and got ready just like the japenese do.
Tora's sword was a unsual one
it was thin and could cut threw things like a knife threw
butter. It was made in a whole different world, Japan to be
exact.
"I would like to see you try to fight me with a regular sword."
Tora said and smiled devilishly.

[Telumehtar]

"Hey, i can take all three of ya at once! come on!"
Laethe said with a grin barely visible through her flying hair. Her sword and dagger sliced the air, trying to beat the recruit without hurting her too badly

Cat shook her head "I'm not good enough to try that, I'd loose horrifically, I'll wait"

Tora disappered in thin air. She was in air a
simaler position and she hit the requit in the head
when she landed and she fell down uncounsus.
"One person gone."
Tora said and slung the small blood on her sword off.
"Are you ready?"

"No jumping on people's heads Tora...from the air anyway!"
Laughed Laethe, replacing the dagger and lifting her sword into the air. Her hazel eyes were hard, her mouth set determinedly

cat watched, interested, gasping with the audience as the girl jumped

"Oh god an audience..."
Muttered Laethe under her breath, remembering her discomfort in front of large crowds.

as one of the two (hard to tell they move so fast!) landed the other a sharp blow on the arm with the hilt of her sword, cat again gasped with the crowd

"Can't you see me?"
Tora teased as she gave Laethe another hit from the air.
She hit Laethe right in the leg, Laethe fell down but quickly
got back up.
"Come on you can do better than that. I could go harder on you
but I don't want to."
Tora remarked, she landed on the ground and she stood
there side ways with her sword in front of her.
"I can tell the next attack your going to take. Your expression
on your face tells me, that's how your oppinet can read what your
going to do next. You have to hide your expressions when your
going up againts a person."
Tora said in a calm voice. She looked at Laethe with no
expression on her face.

Crow paused his half hearted attempts at cleaning his armour to watch the fight break out between two of the girls.
one seemed to be a fairly decent fighter, the other seemed to be floundering a bit. he grinned. it was all very well in the training ground, but it didn't prepare you for real war. not much did, except perhaps being a bit homocidal. he rolled his eyes at the thought and scrubbed at his plate again. eh, that was good enough. he swung it over his head and buckled it at either side, stepping up beside bell as he did so.
"so, whats all this about? a training dual or did one say something mean about the other's hair?" he asked her watching the one with the sword land a blow to the others leg.

"no.....I'm not sure really, but I do enjoy a good fight, I'm up next! I suppose the challenge was there really" She smiled lop-sidedly and shrugged

Tora put away her sword.
"You need to practice more. I could do more
damage but I think that's enough for your body for one day."
Tora said and she walked away. Laethe was
on the floor her leg was bleeding.
"Hey Cat, you must be one of the newest requits."
Tora said smiled a little.

Crow quirked an eyebrow as the fight finished. "your going to fight the amazoness? probably not a good idea." he watched as the victor approached and gave her a blank poker faced look. He brushed past her and stepped into the training ring and held out a hand to Laethe to help her up. "I take it your new at this

Tiniwiel woke up, having been hit on the head by something.

Cat returned with three sets of jeep keys on military fobs, she she walked toward the three spare parked jeeps, swinging the keys on her forefinger

Tora grabbed a set of keys and jumped into a jeep and
started it up and backed up almost over Laethe and Cat
"LOSERS!" Tora yelled playfully and raced off.

cat sighed and rolled her eyes, she tossed the other set of keys to laethe and climbed into the last jeep "well, crow, seems you'll have to share...though I'm beginning to reconsider allowing laethe the chance to drive...."she said as the girl sped out, almost crashing into a tree, but changing direction at the last moment

Dawn glanced out the windows and laughed.

'Let them have them. I was going to assign them those Jeeps...But, since they're destroying them already, I guess I'll just bide my time.' She said as she turned back to her book.

Lurch nodded and continued pacing.

" Woohoo! Jeep maiming....I want in!"

Tin jumped into the back of Cat's jeep (rephrase that : the jeep that Cat was currently driving), practically bouncing up and down with eagerness.

Tora and Laethe laughed as they used the jeeps as bumper
cars slash racing cars.
"WHOOOHOOO!"
Tora yelled as they were flying by everyone else.

Tin stuck her head out of the jeep, but quickly retreated. She didn't much fancy getting it .knocked off by Tora and Laethe with their bumper slash racing jeeps

"Wow! I never knew an off-road vehicle could be so much fun!"

Cat grinned and turned sharply"we're off to the course, I fancy using the slopes"

The girl hung on tightly to anything fixed down as the vehicle ran over some rutty ground.

"Wh-y h-a-ve I n-neve-r d-d-done th-is bef-f-or-re?"

"WHOOHOO! I'm gonna get your Jeep Tora!"
shouted Laethe gleefully over the noise of the Jeeps

the course loomed ahead, a set up of various gradients of slopes, each heavily indented with tyre marks, and general off-road fun, cat took her foot off the accelerator (as bell's mum does :grin: ) and let the jeep take itself down the first slope, mildest of the lot, Tin set her teeth as the vehicle pitched suddenly to the left, as if to roll....but it didnt, cat slowly accelerated up the other side, both she and crow were obviously utterly relaxed "you ok back there tin, you look a little queasy"

" Me? Queasy? I've had rougher rides than this on my lillte sister's pony!"

"really? well, that's ok, but the minute you think you're gonna hurl, yell ok?" the jeep pitched again, to the right this time, then accelerated up a steep incline, but stuck halfway, cat took her feet off all the pedals and they rolled back down, cat turning sharply again so as not to loose the track

Tora laugehd and she raced up ahead jumping the slopes
and going so fast that a tiny bit of movement would make the
jeep go nuts. Tora laughed and screamed in excitement.




(I've ridden in a hummer but it was a OLD one. I rode it with
my friend church's group! It was up a mountain and down a
mountain! IT WAS SOOOOOO FUN!)

Meanwhile, back in the tent...

Argh! Where's that stupid jerk technician gone off to?

Tiniwiel hung on tight, whooping loudly as the jeep soared over a bump, in mid-air.

" I do not hurl in jeeps, ok? And if you keep saying that I'll hurl down the back of your neck! With CARROTS!"

cat cringed "ok, ok, I get it...noo, no, far too graphic!" she shuddered

Screeched Laethe, sailing over some rough turf

Cat put her foot down, the jeep charged forward, taking to the air as it flew over a large hump "that do?" she asked, grinning

cat chuckled "guess that's a yes!"

Tiniwiel hung on tight, thoroughly enjoying the exhilerating ride.

" Uhuh, Cat, that's definitely a yes! Yippeeeeeee!"

Cat grinned and took a sharp turn, launching the jeep into the air as they leapt over a large hump

"Whoa!"Tin gasped, her breath catching in her throat. She inched her way forward, and tapped Cat on the shoulder. "Can i drive? Pleeeeaaaaassssseeeee?"She looked at her pleadingly.

cat frowned and brought the jeep to a skidding halt, swapping seats with tin, ignoring crow's pleas to have the wheel

Tin smirked at Crow, settling into the driver's seat.
"Hey, nice...I could get used to this!"
She took off the handbrake, and they sped to full speed in a matter of seconds, flying through the air every time Tin hit a pothole. She hummed thoughtfully, steering the jeep towards the ford, where the nearby stream was shallowest. However, instead of crossing the water, she turned right and headed upstream, whooping as the water splashed the mudguards and found it's way in through the jeep's open windows.

Cat whooped and giggled, being thrown across the jeep as it turned, she scooted back over and put her seatbelt on

[Pippin]

A young hobbit enters the camp, his pack slung over his shoulder, his sword hung from his belt. He pauses in the centre compound, looking around him, trying to decide which building he should report to. He's about to head for the door marked office when he spots a sign saying "mess hall". He makes straight for it.

Tora hushed and went off the track to loose the others. She
took a short cut threw the trees and headed back to the tent.
"I wanna see there faces when the come back."
Tora said and laughed to herself

The jeep lurched again, but this time cat wasnt thrown, she was pelted forward against the strap instead

muttered Laethe as she watched the young hobbit head toward the mess hall. She swerved to the left, narrowly avoiding Cat's Jeep

Tired of waiting for Thomas the technician, Hysewyn left the tent to relieve her boredom. No sooner had she stepped outside than she noticed a young hobbit on the grounds. He was definitely new, she thought. She smoothed an imaginary wrinkle in her fatigues and made her way over to the mess hall, to see what the new recruit was like. Taking her place behind him in the lunch line, she sized him up and decided to strike up a conversation.

'Hey! You must be new around here,' she greeted him. 'I'm Hysewyn, but everyone around here calls me Shieldmaiden. What brings you to boot camp?'

[Pippin]

Pippin jumped at the sound of a voice directly behind (and above) him, his hand going directly to his sword. He turned, and seeing a friendly face waiting, relaxed.

You startled me! Shieldmaiden, is it? Hmmm...yes, suits you.
My name's Peregrin Took, but most call me Pippin. I'm here to run the hobbit sword-fighting training. At least, that's what they told me.

He stands on tiptoes to inspect one of the offerings on the menu. Wrinkling his nose, he takes some anyway.

It's entirely possible this is some practical joke a friend is playing on me. Tell me, is there a hobbit sword-fighting course?

Cat was jolted forward again as tin put her foot down on the brakes hurriedly, she grimaced but waved the apology away, calling a warning "watch out, laethe! I shall be held responsible for any incidents, I'm initialed top on the rota!"

"Ahhh, I was getting bored anyway."
She unclipped the seatbelt and vaulted from the vehicle, splattering Cat with mud.

Shieldmaiden accepted some of the 'potato' salad and sat down with Pippin at a table. 'Well, I can't say I've heard of one-' she noted the mixture of disappointment on his face '-but I've been stuck in a tent waiting for some jerk technician for so long that I'm sure I've missed something. Actually, now that I think of it, I haven't seen much activity around here...the other recruits have been so bored they've taken to jacking the jeeps and holding impromptu destruction derbies.' She paused to sniff at the food on her tray. 'Have you talked to Commander Dawn? She could tell you whether or not there's a hobbit swordfighting course. I actually need to talk to her, too. I'll go with you to find her after we finish lunch, if you want,' she offered.

Laethe abandoned her Jeep in a huge ditch and walked over to the mess hall. Spotting Shieldmaiden and the young hobbit sitting in a corner table, she walked up and plunked down beside them with her tray. She acknowledged them with a slight raise of her eyebrows, completely oblivious to their conversation and the fact that her Balrog Eregian was trying to nibble on her carrots.

Cat groaned and followed the others back in her jeep, making a mental note to collect the other two, she parked it up and joined the rest of the recruits in the mess hall, taking up the rear of the que for the "surprise meat", though she turned it down on sight, taking a bowl of the slightly less dodgy looking cauliflower cheese, she looked around for a spare seat, ignoring one by "big bonni" who has the hygeine and eating habits of an elderly sloth, including the general personal aroma. surprisingly, she still maintained a crowd of friends and was not sat alone in the first place.

"Eurgh! Cauliflower Cheese for me too, I think. And, uh, Cat? You might want to go and wash, you have mud splattered all over your face..."

She takes her plate and tails the girl closely, sitting down opposite her.

Cat had taken a seat at an empty table in the corner when she spotted tin enter, she welcomed the girl in. at the mud comment she checked her reflection in her pocket mirror and grimaced

"Uh, that would be my fault...sorry!"

cat raised a brow "in what way? this does look rather suspect doesnt it? methinks we need to look for another cook" she picked up her fork and dug it into the rather goopy dish, contemplating the mouthful with a sour look on her face

"Uhh..."She looked away, and swiftly changed the subject. "Nah, it's not as bad as some of the things I had at my Uncle's. He's the worst cook in the world, and he won't let anyone help him. Pride like an iron bar!"

cat frowned "that's difficult...probably crush him to know the truth...ugh! she gave up on the meal and pushed it away, spitting the mouthful into the napkin "that's inedible!"

Laethe's obliviousness continued as all her concentration was being spent on the shoveling of what she prayed was some type of meat.
"Hey, Eregian, take your nose out of my slop!"
she said loudly, drawing the attention of several recruits.

Pippin sighs. I should have known there was no course. It's Merry again. Another windup. I really will kill him this time--no, better yet, I'll send him to visit Gimli again. Those dwarves drive him nuts with their armour and forging and "ooh, look at the pretty stone!" That'll fix him.
He continues to shovel food into his mouth in between sentences. Noticing Shieldmaiden doesn't seem enthralled with her meal, he starts picking things off her tray. You don't mind do you? Good. He doesn't actually give her a chance to respond--an old hobbit trick when it comes to 'acquiring' additional food.
Yes, perhaps when we're done eating--He ignores the eyebrow raised in his direction. --you could show me where we could find this Commander Dawn. Perhaps a conversation with her might sort this out! Apparently I'm available now, if she needs any help with any of the hobbit recruits!

Laethe continued to eat her "meal", now watching the hobbit attempt to flirt with Shieldmaiden.
"Poor sucker....those hairy feet have got to be such an obstacle getting girls,"
she thought with a wry smile.

I haven't been on WOTR in a while :) )

As Tora walked in and sat by the group she looked at their
food and frowned.
"Blimey, are those chaps tryin to poisen ya?"
She poked at Cat's food with her spoon. Tora looked like she
was going to throw up.
"I have lembas if any body wants one after this slop."
Tora said and kept on poking Cat's food with the spoon.

Shieldmaiden tried to ignore the hobbit's 'flirting' and gladly pushed her tray closer to him. 'Here, take it- all of it, she said, though it was really too late as he was already picking at her 'food'. 'I'm not sure where we'll find the commander. She's always lurking around somewhere, but she's kind of hard to find. If you see a really tall Uruk-hai...that's Lurch, and he usually knows where she is.'

[Pippin]

Pippin looks up sharply.

Uruk-hai? What the--what on middle-earth are Uruk-hai doing here?

[Telumehtar]

"Target practice."
grunted Laethe, glancing up from the practically inedible mess on her plate. She quickly lowered her head once more as Shieldmaiden and Pippin turned surprised eyes on her, her wavy hair obscuring her face.

Dawn glanced at her wall clock and nodded to Lurch. Lurch smiled and stood as Dawn opened the door and glanced around the camp.

'Time for the enterance.' Lurch said as he glanced at Dawn as she released the door and looked at the mess hall.

Tora rolled her eyes.
"Lurch is half Uruk-hai, he's Dawn's assitant, NOT
target practice."
Tora siad in a regular tone of voice causing people to look at
her. She just smiled and waved at them all. Dawn came
into the mess hall and every one got silent.

Laethe glanced at Tora, shrugging, before pulling out a dagger and beginnin to toss it up into the air before catching it. She completely ignored the Commander's entrance, as she felt that Dawn's coincidental status made her no more worthy of attention than anyone else.

Dawn glanced around the mess hall and shook her head slightly as she walked down the center aisle of the mess hall.

'Is everyone enjoying themselves?' She asked, her eyes on the group of recruits that had taken the joy ride.

Shieldmaiden glanced at Pippin and nodded towards Dawn. 'That's the commander...' she trailed off as Dawn strode closer to their table. The girl sat up straight and pretended to be very interested in the dirty tabletop.

Dawn glanced at Shieldmaiden and smiled a twisted smile.

'Think that's interesting?' Dawn asked, as she walked to behind Shiledmaiden's chair and leaned over her shoulder.

'You get to wash it.' She whispered into the female's ear quietly.

[Shieldmaiden]

I knew it! she thought. I walked right into that one, didn't I? She threw Pippin a glance that said, 'Good luck, pal,' stood up, and headed toward the kitchen's cleaning closet. Might as well get it over with... she thought, but then she remembered something and stopped, turning to face Dawn. 'Wait, where'd that technician go?she asked. He told me to wait for him while he went to talk to you, and he never came back...'

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

'I sent him on to more important things.' Dawn replied harshly as she nodded to the camp cooks and walked to her table.

Laethe glanced up at the Commander for a moment, before shrugging and standing up with Eregian behind her. She walked to the mess hall's dingy and splintered door, the Balrog behind her and causing several people to stare.

As Tora tried not to burst out laughing. At the way the
Commandor was looking at them.
"I have a question, what is the food made of? Because I saw
some elves run out earlier throwing the meal up. I personaly
think that is not a good sign since you basically just opened this
place."
Tora said in a calm and easy voice.

[Dawnnamira Nerwen]

'If you can't handle the food, then you can't handle anything, and I suggest you leave.' Dawn said icily to the recruit as she Laethe leave.

'And you can wash the doors, since you complained about the food.'

[Telumehtar]

Laethe heard Dawn's rebuke to Tora just as she reached the door. She turned, glaring at the Commander for a few seconds. Shaking her head, she turned again and continued through the doors.

[Shieldmaiden]

Shieldmaiden stood perfectly still with her hands clenched at her sides. After letting out a shaky, frustrated sigh she turned and went on to the supply closet to search for cleaning stuff. On the way back, she caught Tora's eye and grinned at her. 'That was a good question, mate,' she said in a low tone. 'I've been wondering what's in that stuff for a while now.' She tossed Tora a sponge and lugged a bucket of soapy water to the table.

[Pippin]

Pippin finished the last bit of food from both his and Shieldmaiden's trays. He crossed to where she was scrubbing the table. What did you do to be put on cleaning duty? Anyway, thanks for your help--I'm off to discuss my situation with your commander. Good luck!

Pippin glanced at Tora and her sponge as he passed, offering her a polite nod of the head. He stopped by Commander Dawn's table, came to attention, and waited for permission to speak.

Tora laughed her head off.
"Oooooohhhh If you can't handle the food you can't handle
anything. That girl has thorns, I'm glaid you thought so
Shieldmaiden. She better not treat me like skum like
that or she's going to get a wild wakeup call."
Tora remarked and grinned
