OK, Everyone knows Legolas is hot. But did you all know he does his own stunts? Which Legolas stunt was the best from TTT?

Kidding aside, I liked the truly amazing stunt of him carrying on an actual conversation in Helm's Deep rather than one line here and there, AND it was in Elvish! Wow! :elfeek: :p ;)

O.K., all kidding aside, the horse thing was quite nifty despite the physics thingie. After all, he is an Elf so I will let that one slide :grin:

as i have said before in another thread, i do think the horse mounting trip is the DEFINITIVE horse flip hah...

while we can go on dissing about how unrealistic it was, it is after all a FANTASY film, and he IS an Elf, so there you go...

Well, I read the thing on how they got him on the horse, and it scared me. As a stuntman semi-retired, I sometimes see CGI as a threat to an art that I love. If the CGI gets too good, will stuntmen be replaced? It's a question that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end....and the hairs on the necks of some of my fellows in the craft.:o

But, I do have to admit, they did a good job with it.

Yeah, I think stunt people do a good job. CGI is cool and everything, but I think it'd be neat if they kept everything as real as possible. ;)

I agree. I hadn't realised (until I read the artical) that Orli hadn't done the horse flip thing. However I do know that he did the shield surfing for real. Apparently they only used the stunt guy for anything OB really couldn't do. But for most things the stunt guy showd him how to do the stuff safely, so that he was able to do the stuff himself.

The CG stuff isn't nearly as good as the real thing. Leggy'sarm looked slightly blurry when he flipped on the horse so you could tell it wasn't real.

Besides, its much cooler seeing him do the stunts himself! :hooray:

also it's a digital leggs when he jumps from a small cliff and runs down the hill shooting arrows at the wargs. it's really obvious that it's a CG leggs too, which is quite annoying.

I agree, it's stupid and fake and annoying. I was rather shocked to read this on the main page Legolas mounting his horse from the front drew the most audience cheers for a single moment in a movie last year, according to Steve Head at FilmForce. He recently chose a top ten list of movie action sequences, and placed the battle at Helm's Deep first. But his favorite moment in the film was Legolas' leap onto his horse. He got to ask Richard Taylor, one of the producers of The Two Towers about this surprising move.

Tho one thing that I noticed in the movie that I just loved was when they were all talking about what they were going to do about the orcs with Theoden and Ara is like soming a pipe Gimli is eating and Leggy is standing there, and when Theoden says 'Last I checked it was Theoden that not Aragorn who was king of Rohan, and Legolas unfolds his hands and kinda makes his little motion while he was standing there, he kinda leans forward to show that "dude you mess with him you mess with me," AND I LOVED THAT!!!!!!!

well there's been pirate copies of ttt circulating here in ol' blighty and they're supposed to be excellent copies 'cos they've been copied off of the dvds the oscar voters use when deciding which categories ttt gets nominated in, so some ppl already have ttt on dvd!!!!! personally, i'd rather wait until the official one is released 'cos you'll get all those lovely extras and maybe a documentary on leggy's stunts???? hope hope!

i certainly think his role being beefed up in ttt was for the better, both verbally and physically. leggs was given much more to say and do and this enhanced his presence in the trilogy - yay!!! i loved his stunts and, personally, i found them to be some of the most thrilling and stimulating action sequences i've ever seen. :)

The boarding thing was his own idea, and he did it himself as well. And for those of you who are totally clueless, everybody who had common sense (which normally doesn't include me hehe) knows Legolas didn't do the horse stunt on his own. It's too dangerous for most stunt doubles to do. I ride, and it's bad enough doing flying dismounts from a canter, let alone flip up from in front of the horse at a gallop.

That stunt was obviously CG. His arm looked slightly fuzzy also, apart froom the fact that it is pretty impossible to actually acomplish that maneuver.

y'know he never actually fired ANY arrows? it was a health-and-safety issue and none of the actors were allowed to fire any arrows incase they accidentally hit one another... it's on the fotr dvd commentary and lij, dom, billy and sean are explaining it and it's soooo funny! lol

yes, i've seen him practising archery on a documentary on the theatrical fotr dvd, but on the extended version, during the hobbits' commentary, they admit that orli and vig e.t.c. never fired any arrows. my friend also read a report on the internet that said the same thing. he probably learnt archery to ensure he knew how to hold a bow and arrow correctly, and just to get a feel of firing some arrows on a target board...

I think Elves have some kind of arrow-growing thing in their back so they never run out of arrows (well that is my theroy at least) lol :) lol no, they had scences when 'lando pulled arrows out of dead bodies but I dont think it will make it into the movies. lol
y would he spend 2 months practicing shooting arrows if he wasnt allowed to shoot them?! Orlando had an interview question (in a magazine, cant remember which one) and it was like:
Q. Was it really you shooting the arrows and if so how did you shoot them so fast?
A. Yes it was me shooting them. The C.G. added stuff but I did most of the shooting. I got so good that someone would throw a paper plate up and I could send an arrow through it.

so y would the mag lie about something petty like that? I am sure they wouldnt have the cast in the same clip. They prob had him in front of a blue screen and then stuck him back in with everybody else later. lol

well, according to lij, dom, billy and sean, neither orli or any other cast member fired an arrow; if you have the dvd, you'll hear them specifically saying so. i personally am rather baffled as to why he WOULD train for 6 weeks and then not have to even fire any arrows at all... he's gotta have fired at least SOME, right? i reckon he did...

It is quite a waste if he never fires any arrows. Learning how to hold a bow properly might take a little practice but it couldn't take 6 weeks! He was shooting at a mark or something and actually hitting the center. If he could do that they should have shown him shooting arrows.

I watched TRL and Orlando showed Carson Daly (the host) a clip of him shooting an arrow at a plate......so he does know how but he shot maybe two arrows in TTT.....he shot one at the Uruk-Hai when he was doing he shield boarding thing......they showed in the WB special that he was holding an arrow and he shot it at the Uruk-Hai....so i think he did shot at LEAST one arrow.....and that is cool ;).....and the CG's were all the other ones......so yea :thumbs:.....thats what i think and i know he did shot at least one arrow......;) and with that arrow he did an awesome stunt ;) heehee

During TTT I am pretty sure he DID shoot some arrows during the filming.............cuz I have some clips from the movie and I watched very closely to the arrows and when he pulled them out and fitted them to his string to see if there was like somewhere where it looked like an arrow was edited in or something, but I could be wrong, cuz you might not be able to tell :huh:
