View Full Version : Elijah Interview (slightly depressing)

Ok, I don't know how to contact any news posters to put on the front page... (if only I were one), so I made a thread for it, even though I doubt people are going to comment much.

ELIJAH ON LIFE AFTER LORD OF THE RINGS (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/page.cfm?objectid=12442216&method=full&siteid=50143)

The interview made me sad for Elijah - (I wanted to hug him and make it all go away lol) I can imagine the pressure and feeling like he will never experience the wonderful things he had gone through those 18 months. But he obviously had a rough time in result of LotR.... as he says in the interview. :(

I hope it doesn't happen again.

whoops, sorry I meant to put it in 'The Two Towers' section

Hey...for future reference, on the left side of the site home page is a line that says "Send Us News." When you click on that link, an email pops up...post your news bit in it, send it, and one of our trusty Errand Riders will be able to post it on the Main Page.

Just thought I'd let you know!!

What the heck?! What's he wanting to buy cigarrettes for. No wonder no girls want to kiss him!

I hope his mom keeps influencing him to hold out for good roles. It's true that he has too pretty a face to be a character actor, so it may be tough for him.

I just saw the Biography last night of Shirley Temple, and it was sad how cruelly Hollywood treated her after she grew up and lost her 'cute' looks. They are heartless. But she found other fullfilling life pursuits and also said something to the effect: "You can sit around on your laurels and look at your awards and spend your money, but it's very lonely. I would rather work." By then, she was already doing ambassador work for the government.

Now is the time for him to take a break from film and go to college. Good place to meet people, open up to new experiences, and not have to live up to anyone else's vision for himself.

He's *been* buying cigarettes ever since he could. Apparently he started up at 17 on the set of The Faculty (so rumor says). I just wish he he hadn't even tried a cigarette. I've grown a hate for them on account of my father, but what's worse is that I'm used to the smell and can't tell when a smoker is around! I just don't what him to get hurt on account of a habit. verymad

Your right Miruvor. :(

The article seems to be overdramatizing a bit...... nothing he ever said by quote seemed that terribly serious.......

I suppose it would be natural to feel a little down after completeing what is most likely the greatest accomplishment of one's career at such a young age. Probably felt that he has little to look forward to after this is all over...

As for the possibility of college as opposed to continuing his career (or smoking, for that matter), I don't think anyone else has the right to make choices for him. He's an adult after all.

Hey, I still live with my mom and I'm 24! Why leave if you've got a good life there? I probably won't leave until I get married.

Does anyone know if that Mirror paper/mag is reputable? Maybe it's like the National Inquirer here in the states - you know, "My mother was an Alien" type headlines?

Nessa, who says anyone is making choices for him. Though at 17, I don't know how much of an 'informed' choice he was making to decide to start smoking.

Personnally, as an observer, I view smoking by a lovely young person as diminishing their beauty by 50%. In old people - well who cares, their youthful beauty is long gone. But for young people, it's a tragic waste. IMO!!!

yup smoking is bad, stinks and you suffer from horrible diseases and then die! (well you increase your chances!)

Miruvor, I certainly did not mean to offend you, though I see how my comment could very easily be seen that way. If I could, I would edit it. I was not targeting you or anyone else, it just seems that people become a bit too concerned with the lives of others (once again, I'm not saying that anyone here has). And who am I to talk about that anyway? I read the article too.

The 'interview' doesn't seem all that trustworthy anyway, in all the televised interviews I' ve seen he has never once mentioned being depressed. It seems that the press is always trying to make the lives of the famous sound so tramatic..........

I think I read somewhere in an interview that it was Josh Hartnet that encouraged him to smoke pfbbt bad boy. His choice though. I think he said somewhere he lives in a grannyflat type thing attached to his mums house. He and his mum are apparently very close. Again I assume its his choice if he wants to live there or move out.. I meanif your comfortable and happy and have a degree of independence  Nothing wrong with living with your parent(s) (and no I don't ;) ).

Have to agree Elbereth. Makes you want to be there for him :cuddles:, and I hope he had friends that were (and it seems like he did). He comes across so well in his interviews ...

Nessa, it's Ok. I know I come across as bossy sometimes so was just pulling back on my reigns and trying to impress these things as opinions.

Anyway, he is still a very bright person, and am trusting he will make the right decision for himself.

Although, He did say something similar, but with more detail in the 'Starlog' magazine. (That is one expensive magazine, too!) lol

Oh well, not even my hope would do any difference, so I say we all give him three cheers for making a great Frodo. entdraught

The Mirror's probably not that bad - its a gossip rag - if you want serious news go elsewhere, but its not in the lines of the National Inquirer. And most gossip rags have a habit of sensationalising stuff .

I admit -- I was kind of disappointed to hear that he was smoking. It could well be that he's just a cute young guy with a baby face trying to make himself look older and more mature. Too bad. Taking up a habit, for those reasons especially, is a big mistake.

As for him living at home, that's just the way he was brought up. He's close to his mom, and she's worked hard to keep him down to earth, it seems. He did say on The Tonight Show that he's planning to move out soon.

I'm 21, and still live at home, and chances are I will still be living at home till I am 26 - through necessity, definately not personal choice lol, but I am a penniless student until then :(. But if you've got a good relationship with your parent(s) as I have, and sounds like EW has, then whats the rush to move out?
