What is it that you really really want PJ to include in the movie?

There are still a few mysteries as to what PJ will include and what he will be forced to leave out. pfbbt

What are your expectations?

If i had to choose ONE thing...i couldn't!!! lol So here's my top three MUST HAVES!!!

1. The bit in the Battle of the pelennor fields with merry.
2. The scouring of the shire.
3. The whole thing with Faramir in Ithilien.

But wait! This is the two towers thread...damn! Um...I don't care all that much about what he includes in TTT (as long as Liv gets a minimal role! LIV:battle: ) ROTK i have more issues with! :)

I agree Catz...i'd love it ALL to be included but that can't be. I trust PJ enough to do TTT justice. Can't wait to see what he's come up with...and no doubt there will be a collectors edition with extra footage released.:whoohoo:

Personally, I hope that PJ is faithful in adapting the destruction of the ring at Mordor in ROTK - not to mention the certain events that briefly preceed the ring's demise with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum while on Mount Doom.

You know what I mean.

What do I want to see...
Haldir roasting over a fire like a marshmallow with Gimli holding the stick.
Seriously, I don't really care beause after seeing FOTR (8 times, which equals aboot 24 hours) I trust that PJ will make it just right and I will have minimal complaints about the final turnout.

I AGREE!!! VERY VITAL...MUST SEE ELIJAH NAKED... :gaga:

OK, ok... soz! Aaaaaanyway! It IS very important for sam and frodo to be dressed as orcs so that they can pass through mordor a bit easier. But with the way the story's going APPARENTLY frodo isn't captured at all!!!!! verymad

A! Elbereth
July 2nd,2002, 09:44 PM
They will probably just show the back side of Elijah naked and then the rest will be shot from his chest up I'm sure.... then wouldnt dare show anything else! Something like that! Frodo is going to seem mentally Ill from all that smacking-of-the air stuff while they're traveling ( .............. )

A! Elbereth
July 10th,2002, 06:09 PM
Thats what I mention in another post, Nessa, I'm glad it was mentioned again! I absolutely agree... but if we got back to the bloody scene conversation.... why dont you watch some of the horror movies I've seen.... heh heh heh heh:elfeek: :evilcool: :o

I'm not sick or anything(at least I hope not), but I think some amount of goriness is neccesary to bring the battles across as serious, dramatic events. I'm not talking about Black Hawk Down level goriness, though! :0

Well folks....since there appears to be a wee bit of confusion as to what the topic is:p

Let me re-state....hehehe

Well, let me continue he conversation WHILST linking it back to the topic... (is this a new side of pil we see? lol)

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE....

3. SOME MORE OF THAT ARAGORN LURTZ ACTION (but obviously not with lurtz cos he's dead!) :embarras:

Nessa

I recently read a passage from The Two Towers that I would love to see in the movie, though I'm not sure it will be included as Shelob has been postponed.:(

"Sting flashed out, and the sharp elven-blade sparkled in the silver light, but at its edges a blue fire flicked. Then holding the star aloft and the bright sword advanced, Frodo, hobbit of the Shire, walked steadily down to meet the eyes."

Its when the things in Cirith Ungol are pursuing them, I think it will add to the bravery in Frodo's character, even if we have to wait till ROTK to see it.mecry

Bonos-Girl

i liked the whole Shelob scene... i don't wanna have to wait till RotK to see it! mecry it really shows the "transformation" of the Hobbits... timid little hobbits of the Shire overtaking a monster like Shelob! Both Frodo and Sam showed bravery at that part. :whoohoo:

A! Elbereth
July 12th,2002, 12:50 AM
I know... I think FOTR is going to be the best done out of the 3 movies... with the arguments about Arwen and the elves at Helms deep in TTT, and the Saruman and scouring deal in the ROTK.... FOTR will be the best out of the three unless some things are taken care of... unless...

Nessa
July 12th,2002, 12:58 AM
Did anyone mention the body count contest between Gimli and Legolas at Helm's Deep? Some people would think it takes away some of the seriousness, but I don't. Besides being just plain entertaining it would show some bond between the two.

Pil
July 12th,2002, 08:48 AM
If they don't have that then the helm's deep thing could be too overpowering. we'll be holding on to our cinema seats for dear life for 45 minutes without ANY light relief! :p

Algamesh
July 16th,2002, 04:17 AM
Something I really want to see is a decent part for Faramir. Aprat from Aragorn, Faramir is my favorite character I believe. You could really sense the old Numenorean blood in his character and I've always been pleased by the concept of a philosopher king. I don't have an immediate knowledge of who is playing the part but I hope the actor is convincing.

Nessa
July 16th,2002, 04:21 AM
David Wenham!

I haven't seen him in anything except of few seconds in the trailer, but I will say he looks an awful lot like Boromir, its very believable that they're brothers. I hope he portrays Faramir well.

Oh wait! David Wenham had a part in Moulin Rouge, I believe the characters name was Audrey?? But I've never seen it.

Algamesh
July 16th,2002, 05:34 AM
Thank you Nessa! I will now scan the web for information on this actor who will be so crucial to my cinematic Tolkien opinion ... hehehe!

Tinuviel
July 16th,2002, 07:36 AM
I would like to see the scene where Frodo meets Faramir and all his men surround them and Faramir sits, to be on eye-level with our hobbits....... Might be inconsequential, but i think it would visually convey the vulnerability of our hobbits, while accentuating their stout hearted-ness; and also the chivalry and innate kindness of Faramir..
:stomper:

Catz
July 16th,2002, 03:51 PM
mmmmm, that would be a great scene Tinuviel....it would also set up Faramir as a totally different character from his brother....

So was he good, or just laughable?;)

(Forward: I usually avoid even going in this forum to avoid spoilers but I would like to share my hopes for the Two Towers. Please please don't tell me if what I want is or isn't in the film, I like knowing nothing! lol)

Well as much as a naked Frodo would be... interesting, I'm wishing for well... different things in the upcoming film. :)

First things first, a believable Gollum. There really is only one way to do Gollum and PJ knew this, and that's CGI. However, as a 3D Animation major, I realize the challenges he as a director and his team have to overcome to achieve a realistic sense so the viewer believes the character. The animators have to get the lighting, placement, and idiosyncricies just right. This is difficult to say the least. Then you have to figure in clothing movement, muscular tensions and relaxations, even gravity's effect on the character. Whoa boy, this should be interesting to see. Bottom line, I hope they do Gollum justice. The same goes for Shelob, same challenges, same hopes.

I've seen the trailor once, and Helm's Deep looks amazing so I'm pleased with that. I however have only seen Treebeard's eye so I'm not sure how he will look, but here's hoping for the best.

The Ent-moot. If that's in there, and done well, I will have to marry PJ. :p

The Glittering Caves would be cool to see, but I won't raise nine tons of sand if it's not in there.

Basically from what I've seen in the viewing of the trailor, I'm happy with all PJ has done, and look forward to more.

Pil
July 17th,2002, 07:10 PM
Orofacion! You'll have a tough time avoiding spoilers! Run! Run away while you still have the chance! :stomper: :wiggle: roflmao

Gollum is THE ultimate challenge. I mean, we get ACTUAL DESCRIPTIONS of Gandalf and there are many different opinions of how HE looks. Imagine all the different opinions of the looks of Gollum that have HAD to be created in our minds because of the lack of description on Tolkien's behalf! Poor PJ.... :( :p

I agree Oro. A convincing Gollum is something i hope we recieve. :read:

(In answer to Nessa.... HE WAS EXTREMELY LAUGHABLE! lol V.small part though...only three or four lines or summut right at the beginning. Everyone should watch it, great film! )

(To kinda answer summut melkor sed AGES ago, but kinda got cut off... Don't worry about the ents storming isengard. I got annoyed when we didn't actually get that much of a detailed narrative in the book...hoped that maybe PJ would do something with it...but never mind! There are many other things (as can be seen from this thread) that the fans and probably HE, wanted to included ABOVE that particular event. It would have been good though.) :dragon:

A! Elbereth
July 17th,2002, 10:37 PM
First of all... we all have a small idea of what Gollum will look like, since we saw at least his back in the TTT trailer...

And well.... Audrey was a cross dresser... yes he played a she-male lol lol

Nessa
July 18th,2002, 01:41 AM
Ah-ha.... well I'm sure he'll be fine in the part. I really want Faramir to be like I imagined him in the book... I'm kind of glad I didn't see that film, I wouldn't want that image when I looked at Faramir. lol

Catz
July 18th,2002, 04:34 AM
well....i have to say i love what weve seen of Gollum so far.....V  ....and yeah Oro, he was one of my worries.....as a CG'd character, it would be vital they got him right...and a herculanean task to do so....but i think theyve cracked it...hehehe so do we get invites to the Wedding????:naughty: lol lol

I really liked Gollum, but that one still I've seen of Treebeard.... I'm just not sure. I really can't be too harsh, as I've never even had a clear picture in my head as to what he would look like....
and its really not fair to judge based on that tiny snippit, so I'll keep my mouth shut....

First I'll say he kind of looks like those freaky trees form the Wizard of Ozz, and then I'll keep my mouth shut. ;)

Catz
July 19th,2002, 04:20 AM
yeah....i think there'll be heaps of controversy over the Ents....there cant help but be, as they are very popular characters and everyone sees them differently....so i'll just be happy if its somewhere close....im not expecting my vision of the Ents to be on screen.....
:catz:

Pil
July 19th,2002, 08:39 AM
OMG NESSA THAT'S SOOO FUNNY! roflmao lol :p

I agree though, i found it hard to get my own vision of what they look like...first it was more 'tree' based, but then more human based. I will actually probably appreciate having something given to me to picture when i read about them. I CAN however picture the 'hasty' ent...what's his name...quickbeam or summut? Funny that! :wiggle:

A! Elbereth
July 19th,2002, 06:39 PM
I've already posted this before on another thread, but I will say it again:

I am very worried about the ents in TTT... I'm afraid they are going to make them look ridiculous! I pictured them way differently than the pictures on this site... I pictures them WAY more human looking than tree looking... They look liked... kinda like Trolls in my imagination... hehe lol

Pil
July 19th,2002, 06:51 PM
Yup...i think i was going for a whithered old man look...rather than a humanoid tree... lol  :p

Hail Miruvor and Well Met!!

I'm glad your here and hope that you enjoy yourself!

I think PJ has played up the relationships so far, so I think we can expect my boy Sam to give Gollum PLENTY of grief!

Hi Muruvor!

I completely agree with you. Most of my favorate bits form Fotr are quoted pretty closely to the book and I would love to hear direct dialog in TT, especially the Frodo/Sam/Gollum interacton.

Catz
July 21st,2002, 12:13 AM
i really cant see any reason why that wouldnt be in......after all, what script writer doesnt love just being able to use stuff thats already written?;)

I'd like to see how Frodo has to trick Gollum, and how sorry he feels about it.

Pil
July 23rd,2002, 08:13 PM
I always got annoyed how he was so nice to gollum and saved him...but did the little prune care.......NO, NO! verymad

Nessa
July 25th,2002, 12:33 AM
Not to go OT or anything....;)

But ultimately you have to feel sorry for Gollum. I won't go into why I think so deeply because I'd be typing for days.

Afterall, Frodo felt sorry for the wretched creature. ;) We'll definately see that in the film....its one of the main themes of the books I think, pity and so on. Gandalf already began it in fotr, I'm sure PJ intends on following through with it.

Catz
July 25th,2002, 12:52 AM
me too Nessa....after all he really is pathetic, poor thing....and probably the hardest thing he ever did was spend time with Frodo and Sam, being reminded of all he'd lost.....very sad mecry ....i loved the fact that, however unwilling, gollum saved ME......"even the smallest person can change the course of the future"....it doesnt only apply to those small of stature, or those we can root for as "good" guys.....

Nessa
July 25th,2002, 01:03 AM
Oh dear, :catz:, I'm getting all teary....

I must admit that while reading the books I have such a range of emotion for the one character, disgust, amusement, hatred, but ultimately pity. I want to feel all that and more while watching these next two films.

Am I asking a bit much? ;)

Catz
July 25th,2002, 01:14 AM
no.....at least i dont think so...tho i do imagine there will be some simplification, mainly cos its hard to show motivation on film:where in a book you can go into a characters thoughts in depth...on film, that all has to be shown, which can be difficult with complex characters....but im sure that it'll be worthy of the character
:catz:

Pil
July 25th,2002, 07:55 PM

I also hope to see:

1. Merry and Pippin's surprising greeting of King Theoden at the gate of Isengard. That would be exciting comic relief.

2. Pippin stealing the palintir out from under Gandalf's arm and sneaking off to gaze in it. I expect it will be there, but I still look forward to it.

3. I wanted very much to see Saruman's many-colored robe, and am very disappointed that it won't be in (as I have ranted about in another thread.) Boo hoo hoo! mecry pfbbt

4. I hope to see Sam cooking herbs and rabbit.

Nessa

Merry and Pippin at the gate! I'd forgotten that! I don't think Jackson would pass up that comical situation.... or at least I hope not. Probably a few more giggles in the audience over all that weed... lol

I'd like to see the Window on the West be very beautiful.... although I suppose they kind of have to work with what New Zealand has to offer, not that its not beautiful, of course.
