As you will know if you recieved the email we sent WOTR is thinking about a non-compulsory subscription. Really a way for folsk to help with the escalating costs of the site.

Currently the idea is for a two part subscription. One for non-forum members which would just give access to the downloads archive and the fanfic database (where you will be able to manage and edit your fanfics, note that forum members will be able to do this anyway) the other is the supporters membership in the forum. It will give an addtional avatar indicating your support, a custom title, special competitions, access to the archive, longer tags, etc.

Really it just a way for you to help us run the site. Though we are trying to find extra things we can give in return.

Ideas are something like $5 a month, and a reduced quarterly or yearly rate for those who want to pay by chq or money order. Though folks can donate more if they like.

It will not effect your current status in any way. Apart from the fact that all downloads will now be archived after one week. This is too save bandwidth and so reduce the costs. As will the addtition of the new server, which will run in tandem with the current one but under a different bandwidth type.

Furthermore you will be supporting other sites that we host and run files for. Indeed we will be able to expand that capacity perhaps.

We will publish accounts so that people can view them. Indeed we already keep them, though as this idea proves they are very much in the red.

As mentioned earlier it not something we are keen on implimenting but we have to be pragmatic and $900 a month cannot be bourne by a few people indefinetly.

If you have any concerns or questions please ask away.

Regards

I subscribed a while ago (I hope more people do!) and I was wondering about benefits and such. Is there any way to get a email address from warofthering? I don't know if this can be made availible, but I'd be willing to pay a bit more....;) just a thought

Funny you would bring this up! :p

We are currently working on exactly that! We've got our host working on installing a system that will function either as webmail client or as a normal POP3 server so that it can be used via Outlook as well.

We've yet to sort out how to roll it out.. hehe...but keep an eye...or two if you can spare them..hehe........right here for more news sooneth!
