Member of the Month Announced!- Member of the Month

Ok well it has been a while coming, so apologies.

You can now nominate other users as member of the month. Each month we will take a look at the nominations combined with staff input and make the selected person member of the month.

Really it is a way for us to recognise those who put a lot of work or time into the community or those who post amusing or good comments. Also a way for you to express your opinion on who you think has contributed most over that month.

In recognition they get an additional avatar for the month indicating their status and they get to choose their own main avatar which they can then keep instead of the incremental ones built into the site.

Don't take it to heart if you are not nominated it is subjective to a point and with more and more members it is often to overlook someone who is a real boon to the community.

Anyway on with the announcement. The first member of the month is Adunauriel (http://www.warofthering.net/forums/vbulletin225/upload/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=484) who has contributed lots of great posts across the breadth of the forum.

So congratulations and thanks to her.

And no, moderators and staff should be excluded from nominations. While they do an outstanding job, they are already afforded the benefits (custom title, avatar, etc.), with the exception of the MoM award symbol.

MoM was designed to recognise the members of the community outside of staff.

But thanks for the thought! We are very proud of the efforts that our moderator staff put into the community.

Okay folks........

This thread was started to introduce the MoM program, announce the winners, and congradulate them. This is also a place to ask questions in regards to the program itself.

Whilst I did say "rule wisely", the intent of this program is to express our gratitude for members who contribute to the community discusions, and posts in a manner that engages other membrs into thought provolking conversations in regards to Tolkien and his works.

This is not about dictatorships, battles, popularity contests or anything of that sort. Being nominated Member of the Month, while it has it's privileges, there are certain responsibilities that come along with the award as well. Like continuing to set the example of what type of posting and member interaction warrents nomination.

There...........with all that said.......can we get back somewhat on topic? I'm sure there are folks that would like to say a congrat or two to Gatsby........this month's Member of the Month.
