Hey guys, just wanted to let y'all know about a movie that is getting very limited play, but a huge amout of buzz. starring one of the most consistent actors in hollywood, Ray Liotta, and the most underrated, Jason Patric, in a cop genre following the investigation of the death of an undercover narcotics cop. hence the name Narc.
be warned, not for the faint of heart. some ingenious camera work from the very beginning, think Gladiator, on heroin. the depth of human emotion and the human psychosis is...breathtaking, hard to imagine one can really go this deep without coming back out unscathed.
wonderful movie...wonderfully tragic.

mmm there has been a buzz about this one.........i wanted to see it actually if only to see if Patric actually lives up to his potential this time.........and from the sounds of it he does.....so this is another one to add to the list ;) lol so many movies......so little time.......and even less money :o lol.......its great tho ;)
he has, as you say Ronin, always been both underrated and sadly missused.....nice to hear hes finally in something that lets him shine........and Ray Liotta starring is something of a reccomendation in itself......sounds like this one is a keeper lol now all i have to do is wait til it gets here ;)

Read a bit about this in Empire recently... sounds excellent... and i've always liked Ray Liotta as an actor... ever since "Field of Dreams", "Goodfellas" etc..
Jason Patric... hmm... don't know why he ended up making some of the movies he did... but yes.. he's underrated.
Looks like this is another i'll have to wait to see at the local film theatre ;) lol Thanks for the rec. tho hon!

I loved Ray Liotta's performance in Goodfellas. One of my favourite films

if nothing else, this film should be seen for Jason Patric. sure, the film is a little tired and riddled with some cliches...but the performances, espeically Patric's, are worth the effort. brilliant job by him....and Liotta, but all kudos to Patric

Read the Empire mag here...it says that its Liotta's film, and that he gives the best performance of his career... and that he deserves a nod in the Oscar race this year. Strange. Realised potential... really makes it all worth the wait tho ;)

yeah......they do often differ tho........particularly in review, which are so very subjective.........same mag........totally different teams.......i get both the Aussie and the English edition when i can afford it and its an interesting exercise comparing them. The Aussie mag didnt say Liottas performance was bad tho.......just that Patric finally had his chance to shine

this movie is, by far, a vehicle for Jason Patric (if u can call it a vehicle) with Liotta as an amazing supporting actor. Patric unfortunately won't get anywhere near a nod for best actor, but in all likelihood, Liotta will get a nod for best supporting. which is amazingly deserved.

Amazing how opinions differ... but that's the variety of life. Would love to see a copy of the Aussie Empire to compare. Interesting.
