Christopher Lee: I'm sorry, I can't get up these goddam stairs properly! I'm sorry, Peter, I can't do it. You see, every time I go up this part, I step on the thing.

Orlando Bloom: Myself and Brett were in this, like, boat, and one of the guys filming grabbed the front of the boat, and stopped us, because we were going downstream, he stopped us to catch us. And I could see that we were, like, sinking, so I was saying, 'leggo man, leggo!' but he was holding on, trying to help us. And, y'know, it's kinda funny, but, Brett was in this, y'know, like, armour. He's in heavy armour, man. That's chainmail he's wearing. And he had this inflatable... thing on his back... lifejacket, thats it, which was meant to blow up if he sank. And I could see that it wasn't blowing up, so I just stuck my hand in there and pulled him out, and he was, like, 'fffwwgltfwb!'. So I was hanging on to this guy, who was going 'fffwwgltfwb!'. And he was like, freaked out man.

Dominic Monaghan: I've seen him (Elijah) go down three flights of stairs, you know, like dudundun, dudundun, dudundun, and then get up, like 'Whoo!'.

Ian Mckellen (in the commentory, at the point where Gandalf says 'Do not take me for' etc): Whooooaaaahhhh....

I must go with Billy Boyd saying "when I was getting ready to go out tehy said when you get to heathrow you'll be travling with this guy called Orlando Bloom" orlando says something and back to Billy " and I see this guy and I think he looks...... elflike"
and when Dom told about the time when John Rhys-Davies took them to a resturant and oredered food that would have fed 35-40 people and when he goes "we'll have nine lobster and fifteen shrimp and so on and so on ... do you have partridge? bring the partridge!" and the time they talked behind each other backs you know? and have you heard the audio commentary? when they tell about the fake name they made up to trick Elijha and they made up rules on the way so that EVERYTHING Elijha said were worng like "no, Elijha you can't double tig a tag and you have to do an elephant impression when you tag Billy...."

Love the impersonations. One of my favourites is Dom's 'BK' recounting the chess game between him(BK) and Sam:

" "I'd take his bishwop, and then he'd come and he'd try to take my king and I'd take his king!" and he'd run around and laugh and stuff"

Great stuff. As Dom say's brilliant! Yes, also liked Viggo's impersonation of, was it Kieran?, while paddling in the Canoes:
Viggo's Kieran:"Viggo, if the boat sinks, save yourself"
Viggo:'Why's that?'
Viggo's Kieran:"I can't swim"
(Or some such)

And Viggo talking about him and Kieran cooking fish together - Viggo impersonates Kieran by saying something like "i would have cooked it better....in a curry" and all that scene - its great lol

That was not so amusing!! It was rather heartbreaking!! But in a cute and loveable kind of way! But I must say, Dom is my favorite of all of them...."You have to get on your knees and take your trousers down...." Hahaha!! And Orlando when he sees the kids react to the fire works and story telling is too cute!! (in cast commentary);)

I love it when Orlando talks about the Kids... Plus when he talks about the Fireworks.. But my Altimate quote from Orlando is...

"Lembas, one small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown Man." As he calls it. It's his Lembas Comercial....lol

I'm just enthralled by Billy's accent. he's talking about Dom getting a splinter in his foot.

lol I know! All of those are just too funny! roflmao

I love when in the cast commentary the hobbits are talking about Orlando in the boat and how he is good at everything EXCEPT canoeing.
And they were saying how Orlando called them to look at this new cool move he'd figured out in the boat, then John Rhys Davies has moved and tipped the boat and you hear Elijah saying..."..the look on his face when he realized he was going down..." Brilliant stuff! lol

I'm not sure if it's in the commentary; I think it's in a program called 'Return to Middle Earth'. It will almost certainly be in the TTT DVD, whenever that comes out.

It is from the program "Return to Middle-Earth". I also hope it's on the DVD....

I haven't watched everything on the ex-DVD yet.....you're making me realize I need to listen to the commentaries!!

I have to say the funniest thing EVER is Dom describing John R-D at the restaurant...."nine lobsters, fifteen shrimp, twelve filet mignons...."lol roflmao lol roflmao roflmao roflmao roflmao ...surprised only one person (I think) has mentioned this one before!!

Loads of other favourites, but here's a few that don't seem to have come up yet:

- Dom and Billy talking about Billy's girlish scream with the fireworks
- Sean talking about how he'd harass Orlando in the boat and acting out the boat spinning around
- Elijah talking about BK beating Sean at chess....something about the way he says 'he kicked Sean's ***! he kicked his ***!' cracks me up

I was reading interviews on BBC online, and most of them were about who Liv Tyler(Arwen) thought was sexy. But Billy's and Dominics was so funny.

Billy : I liked the horses in the film
Dominic: But I thought that one of them kicked you in the bum
Billy: It hurt, but, I still liked the horses

BBC: We had a poll on our website, to see who our members thought were sexy. Orlando got the highest amount of voters. What do you say to that?

Dominic: Screw them!! I mean, in the movie, the last people the audience wants to see die is the hobbits. And I don't care what they think, I think I am VERY sexy.
Billy: Watch in the third movie....WHIZZ an arrow goes straight through Orlando's eye
Dominic: You wouldn't think he's that sexy after that? Would you?
Billy: And you should see him with out his wig
Dominic: Or his make up
Billy: And he smells like elderberries

lol lol lol lol

February 8th,2003, 03:18 AM
My favorite part is probably when they are talking about Dom's splinter. The story always changes. Once it's titanium and then another it's some other kind of metal. Very cute.

I also like the whole story about Tig. Poor 'Lij. But now I find myself quoting it...hiliarious.

Oh yes..and when they're telling about Billy screaming with the rocket....and when Orli's fussin' over the little kids. And..there's another one that I just had. But I can't remember it....[ponders]

oh yeah! And in "Return to Middle-Earth" I like when Billy and Dom are in the coffee house and Billy's like, "this is my second breakfast." and Dom says, "We're bringing movie and life..together!" "Billy and I are...together! But not in that way..."
ANd when Dom pulls the tape off of Billy's chest. That was great. Loved that.

Well, when I remember the other thing (that wasn't i t) I'll come back and let y'all know!

Toodles!

lol

In the extended DVD, 'A day in the life of a hobbit', when Dom and Billy are sitting down eating and Dom's conversation goes:
"The phone rang last night..and..and..there was somebody on..on the other...other end..." And Billy just laughs politely..it's hilarious lol

Saruman
February 9th,2003, 04:32 PM
In 'cameras in Middle Earth' (which is basically about filming), at Amon Hen, Richard Taylor (who is wearing a hilarious hat) says something like, 'you're killing machines, go forward with the intention to kill; be the best that you can'. Commenting on this is Viggo: 'Richard made this impassionate speech.'

I like it when just a few words later Viggo says something about hopeing the crew wouldn't mind if he turned and ran away from them......lol roflmao lol I could totally pictue it, and probably would have run too....lol roflmao roflmao

This is not something that they said, rather what they did. Sean Bean and Viggo were having a beer, and suddenly, they had a bright idea to kidnap Orlando from his room. So, at about one in the morning Lij hears a cry, and laughing, and he sees Orlando being carried down the stairs, by Sean and Viggo. Elijah laughed so hard. Orlando had a piece of tape loosely put on his mouth, and when Sean takes it off, he said "God, you scared the hell out of me, I couldn't see your faces." Soon enough though, he was laughing with the rest of them.

Adunauriel
February 11th,2003, 09:12 PM
I like it when Orlando talks about doing the Caradhras scene, and how nasty the fake snow was... Poor guy, he had to act like nothing was wrong... It's funny, but totally sucks at the same time...;) lol

Lady of the Rings
February 12th,2003, 12:31 PM
I like it in the cast commentary when the hobbits are talking about Elijah's "pressure gas" And either Dom or Billy (Can't remember which one) said that 'it blew a part in their hair' :elfeek: lol Poor lij

Also when Orlando was talking about in the mines of Moria and he had to keep saving Sean Bean from falling and he's like, 'I ended up with a really sore backside, but I gave him quite a few beatings for that ,you can be sure' lol Poor Orli..and Sean ;)

Adunauriel
February 12th,2003, 11:02 PM
I love that part, when Orlando is talking about catching Sean in Moria.. He says that Sean kept falling on him like he was a soft pillow, and how his backside and the backs of his legs were all bruised... Funny stuff....;) lol lol

"Oh God... not the dwarf..." Orli sounded so funny when he said that. lol

and when Dom and Billy were commenting abt Orli's archery skills. Elijah said Orli was great to ba able to do all that stuff. and the 2 hobbits were like 'No he didn't its CG' 'Just to make him look good' 'he already looks good' 'coudn't look better...'

And the lembas commecial, yes i saw it!!! He sounded so cute when he was doing it. 'I call it my lembas commercial'

Adunauriel
February 24th,2003, 02:50 AM
I loved Orlandos' Lembas Comercial, that's why I had to put it in my siggy... I also loved it when Sean A. said his jealousy of Orlando existed on many different Levels.. I so wanted to know what those levels were, and are....lol

Lady of the Rings
February 24th,2003, 12:24 PM
lol

I also loved when Elijah is talking about just after they first meet Aragorn and they are at Amon Sul. Frodo wakes up and goes "What are you doing?!", but Elijah talks about how he said it heaps American and the directors were like..'yes..that was good..but it kinda went "WHAT ARRRE YOOU DOOING!?" lol

Sean Astin said he wanted a bow for a weapon too. lol

Adunauriel
February 25th,2003, 10:34 PM
The best one for that is when Sean A., talks about saying "Get Down". I just loved that way he said it.. Too funny...lol

I have to say that my fav was in, i think "a day in the life of a hobbit" both when Dom and Billy run around in the canteen and touch the tables and when dom, billy and Elijah all do theyre little behind your back dissing thing...... very funny...as well as in "Return to middle earth" when billy is picking out a CD and says "Its icelandic music...I think they play the nose-flute...Very difficult instrument to master"....actually, the entire Fellowship of the CAst and Day in the life of a hobbit are hilarious!!
Hey legolasisawesome, where was the thing with orlando being "abducted" from his room?

This isn't off the extended version DVD, or anyhting, I found this on a web site:
Orlando: Vig used to call me 'elf boy', and I'd call him 'filthy human'. As an Elf, I never got a scratch on me, never got dirty. And Vig would come out with blood and sweat all over him. And he'd say to me, 'Oh, go manicure your nails.'
Well, I think it's funny!!!!!!!!! :)

Did you catch Dom and Elijah mimicking their scale double? Now what the heck was his name? I can't remember, sorry, but he's an Indian.
And the tig game too. Elijah took a year to figure out the game was non-existent! And also Sean Bean's phobia of taking helicopter. I can't believe he actually preferred to walk in the mountains. lol

Adunauriel
March 7th,2003, 08:43 PM
The little Indian scale doubles name is BK, or atleast that's what they all called him... And as for Sean B., hikeing throu the woods, it was beautiful forrestry.. Thou, I think I'd have continued braveing the helecopters...;)

I simply loved "a day in the Life of a Hobbit" cuz of those 4 clowns. lol
And I liked the part when the hobbits were asking the helicopter pilot to do a spin, roll around or something, and Sean Astin was saying that they were crazy.
btw, I had the captionings on so there'll be some kind of subtitle thing to show what they are saying, but it keeps jumping all over the place.

ImDaMom
March 8th,2003, 08:18 PM
Another great line from the commentaries...at the very end, as the credits wind down, Billy Boyd thanks everyone involved in making the commentary, and then asks "Why did we need to be naked for this? It's gettin quite cold"

I'm sure they'll have more things to say, being that the filming process of TTT seems more complicated. lol I think they'll have Viggo do the commentary by popular demand. lol

I love his story on the Cameras in Middle Earth (or Fellowship of the Cast) when he's describing Keiran on the boat ("I cant swim...I'm even afraid to take a bath). Viggo seems to really find that whole thing hilarious, and he has a great laugh (and smile)

This one isn't so much as funny as totally true....especially with the situation we're in now.....i love it....by far the best quote ever....It's Sam's little speech at the end of TT right before Faramir lets them go.
Sam:"It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness will pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't because they were holding onto something. "
Frodo: "What are we holding onto Sam?"
Sam: "That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

Well... to get back to topic...
These two quotes are regarding a landslide accident Orli and Sean B. were kinda involved in. It's not from the cast commentary... I thought the quotes were pretty funny and interesting lol

Orlando Bloom
'I took a car trip down towards the South Island with Sean Bean. We were filming down there, but Sean's not into flying. And as we were driving, torrential rain started pouring down. You've never seen so much rain. I was videoing it and thinking, 'This is insane.' It didn't stop for, like, 12 hours. And after nine hours of heavy rain, the roads just started to wash away. Then we saw a massive landslide coming right towards us. We spun the car around, but we ran straight into another one, further up the road. So we pulled into this petrol station where there was already a queue of people. And we managed to find a little cottage, where they let us stay. They had to carry us out in a helicopter, in all this torrential rain, which was kind of hairy. Sean was gutted. He'd done this whole drive just to avoid the flight.'

Sean Bean
'I'm not a very good flier, though I'm getting better. It's the turbulence which really gets me. Orlando and I decided to drive and take the ferry instead. The only problem was Orlando's propensity for shopping. He had to stop at every shop to get Christmas presents. It was pouring with rain, so I was saying: 'Look, we've got to get going or there's going to be a landslide'. And sure enough, there was. We turned back to find another one so we were stuck in the middle of nowhere. They sent a chopper to airlift us out - even worse than a Dakota! It was still raining and we were flying through mountain passes and the windscreen wipers were going like mad. I said: 'Can't you just drop us there in that field?', but they wouldn't. I was gripping Orlando's kneecap so hard I must have nearly broken it. He was saying: 'It's OK' but he still takes the p**s out of me for that.'

Where did you get that???? I listened to the cast commentary a few times, and missed that part (the landslide)

Lady of the Rings

i told ya its not in the commentary. Got it off from some website

I got these off the same website:

Viggo Mortensen
'Sean Bean and I made fun of the elves, and they made fun of us. They said we were dirty and smelly and less intelligent and graceful, all of which is probably true. We commented on their vanity: 'Well, when you are done with your nails, we are being attacked.'

Orlando Bloom
'Vig used to call me 'Elf boy', and I'd call him 'filthy human'. As an Elf, I never got a scratch on me, never got dirty. And Vig would come out with blood and sweat all over him. And he'd say to me, 'Oh, go manicure your nails.'

Liv Tyler
They glued the Elf ears on, but they never got all the glue off. So, we would be picking glue out of our ears constantly. I went home to New York, and a week later, I still had all this sticky stuff. I was at a party, picking my ears and going, 'Ooh, sorry.'

Elijah Wood
'I think we lived very Hobbit lifestyles. We were always going to the pub and having a bit of a drink and a meal. Hobbits love to eat, so Hobbits love to drink. We, in some ways, embodied the things that are Hobbity initially, and I think we just became more Hobbity as the project wore on. The Hobbits tended to spend their free time together, so the closest friends that I had on the movie were Billy and Dom and Sean. And Orlando the Elf, who happened to join us as well, much to our dismay. No, he's a good guy. The Hobbits went to Australia...we went to Sydney and checked out the Star Wars set. The Elf joined us. We went on surfing trips a lot. It was a close union of boys.'

Yes, its a great place to look at quotes. www.bagendinn.com has a link to that too. Anyway, we'd better get back to topic and start discussing quotes soon, or I'll get ticked off for starting this whole thing abt websites lol

Adunauriel
April 6th,2003, 01:54 AM

Winyaél Greenleaf
April 6th,2003, 07:52 AM
Hmm... this one isn't by any cast member, but it's abt them... I found it pretty funny lol

Miranda Rivers (casting director)
What was most interesting for me was that each character started to take on personality traits. People who were cast as hobbits were chatterboxes. You put 100 people who you've cast as hobbits together and getting them to be quiet is a major feat. You put a bunch of elves together and you find no one's eating and there's a lot of whinging [complaining] and there's a lot of hair and makeup required. It became a running joke with us. The people who played Uruk-hai, which are the mean 6-foot fighting machines—they actually had this rivalry on set with the elves. They'd call them cupcakes. Because I can guarantee you, if you put the Uruk-hai out there, they'll last all night with no complaining. You put the elves out there and within a couple of hours they'll be going, "I'm too tired! And I need more makeup!" Hobbits were cast by large round eyes and big rosy cheeks. Our favorite adjective became roundy. "Are they roundy?" Round tummies, round cheeks, round eyes.

Miranda Otto:

As soon as I saw him onscreen for the first time,
they showed me some of the rushes, and they said,
"That's Aragorn."
And I thought, I have to fall in love with him?
That's going to be very easy. No problem.
That one's solved.
And he's also a very wonderful person to work with.
He's a very sensitive, caring person and really
quite quiet and shy.

And another one:

I was constantly saying to Peter [Jackson],
'Couldn't I get up on a horse here and start fighting?
' And he'd say, 'No, no, no, you can't do that now.'
So I often felt like Eowyn.
Like, why don't I get to do anything —
the guys get to do everything.
But I think people will see how that changes in the third film.

Speaking of aragorn (and of what else, pray tell, would we be discussing if we had the choice? ;) ) I really liked the interview with Viggo on the Extended DVD where he was doing his impression of the Frodo's double in the boat scenes..." 'Viggo, If we tip over–' 'We're not going to tip over' '–Save yourself, I can't swim!' 'WHAT!!!' " roflmao God, that was funny....yeah, I also am volunteering my services for Eowyn's double...not only does she get to fall in love with aragorn (always a job perk :naughty: ), but she's also a very strong character...ahhh...that would truly be awesome! :hyper:

IDM, you would have to fight me out of the way to get near Aragorn!!

My favorite quote was by Viggo, when he said, "I was walking down the street, half in Strider clothes, half in my own, going back from a sword rehearsal, trying to remeber the combinations, swinging my sword. When all of a sudden these police cars came swarming around me. There had been some report..."

That cracked me up! lol
