I read this book years ago... few times actually... loved it then... then kinda forgot about it... well can you *really* forget about a walking plant named triffid? ;) Anyway I had forgotten a lot about it so I enjoyed it as much (or maybe even more... age is an advantage) as the first time :)
The book in a few words (without spoiling it, if any of you decide to read it)... One night theres a light show in the sky... the next morning people wake up blind... with a few exceptions who have missed the light show...
The world is not the same.. the few survivours had to find a way to survive, build a new society, find that most of their moral cant answer this hard time... With this theres the great danger of a walking plants, who are useful for the mankind, but can easily kill humans as well...
Theres not much action in the book (well compared to others on the end of the world theme)... there are more ideas... but its good nevertheless (or maybe because of that?)... reads smoothly too...
Ah yes it was written in the middle of the last century, but I dont think it sounds out of date
Well thats one of my favourite books ever... havent read anything else by John Wyndham tho... maybe I should check whether the library has anything...
Any opinion on "The Day of the Triffids"? Or any other good books by John Wyndham?
