Algamesh

My name is James Edwards, but, you guys know me by my life-long roleplaying name of Algamesh. I am currently 30 years old and I live in Kentucky. I work for MSN Broadband technical support as a team supervisor. Basically, when a customer who has MSN DSL calls in for technical support, they have a good chance of talking to one of my agents. I have worked in this field for about 3 years and I really enjoy it. I never would have imagined myself here though, my educational background is in chemistry ... to be more specific forensic chemistry. Prior to this job, I worked in a few research laboratories and I headed a toxicology department for a chain of hospitals. Heck of a career move, eh?
The name Algamesh comes from my 6th-grade summer. I discovered Dungeons and Dragons and was hooked. This has been a hobby throughout my life of which I continue to participate and I now actually have a whole world setting built (politics, inhabitants, etc. - look for the book). My very first character was named Algamesh, a name I derived from the great hero of Middle Eastern literature Gilgamesh. If I had to associate my fantasy persona with the Tolkien world, I would imagine him to be a Ranger of the Northlands. This has long been my internet name and it strikes terror in the heart of many online gamers . I'm a "lefty" and true to the handiness - the liberal arts have always been natural to me. I ravenously consume literature, especially that of the fantasy/adventure genre. Other hobbies that occupy my time are softball, motorcycling, Aikido, writing, blade collecting, fishin' and huntin' ( a Renaissance Country Boy).
I am married (sorry all you Arwens out there ) to a beautiful red-headed gal who lets me waste most of my time. She's great !!! I'm also father to two mean little boys (from a previous marriage) who would give Sauron problems in a free-for-all (Interesting trivia : I tried to name my 10 year old Aragorn at birth, this didn't fly too well with my former spouse... hehehe. Oh yeah, I did secure rights to the name Arwen if there are any little girls in the future !!!).
Finally, I would just like to say that I'm glad to be able to participate in these discussions. I have been a Tolkien fan all my life and I expect I will be till the day I pass into the Grey Havens. But, while I'm here ... it's nice to know there are others who share my passion and that we have found our own "Fellowship" to exchange ideas and experiences and sometimes, a place and a group with which to just pass the time.
Algamesh
He rides from the North like swift wind upon the grass ...
