I guess I can't say that I was disappointed. All the hype indicated that "Chicago" and "The Hours" were going to win. Certainly, as a LOTR fans - of both the books and the movies - I would have liked to see TTT win - something. As far as the Golden Globes are concerned, it's best to bear in mind that the Globes are a strong barometer for Oscars. So, TTT has a hard road to place.

But, winning awards isn't everything. People are too hung up on winning this or that, of saying "I am the best." But winning isn't everything. The fact is that PJ's LOTR is a beautiful film. It doesn't matter if it wins this or that. And, if anything, LOTR is a huge winner is a category that leaves the others far, far behind - the box office.

Yeah, I was a little dissapointed as well. Even more mad that watching the Golden Globes makes me want to see Chicago a lot...

I hope TTT gets as many Oscar nominations as FotR... *crosses fingers*

Well......I was under the impression that the only reason TTT was not up for these awards was something to do with the release date>? Am I mistaken? I had heard that it would have had to have been FotR And not TTT in contention. hmmmm

I don't think the release date had much to do with it. "Chicago" and "The Hours" were released - in limited theaters - after TTT.

I was dissapointed when I heard the LoTR didn't get anywhere, but no matter ......
I honestly believe that in the long run It will be the LoTR films that will be remembered in the future !!
Awards or no awards

I was not surprised that TTT didn't win anything - I honestly think that the people who judge these films have a prejudice against fantasy and sci-fi films. they are not "serious" films. Usually, it is the most depressing film of the year that wins the GGs, or the Oscars.

At least the British BAFTAS have "People's Choice" film award, where the public can vote for what they think is the best film of the year. A shame that the Oscars didn't have something like that - it would be interesting to see how the results contrasted with the judges of the Academies.

i think that it is usually sad/profound/serious films with no humour in that generally win too....but they gave an award to U2 for the music for 'gangs of new york' so they can't have that bad taste lol lol lol roflmao

Well, at least TTT did get nomintated... But as far as the British having a "People's Choice film award" ~ we have that in America too. It's actually called the "People's Choice Awards" and is set up very much like the Golden Globes except the people vote. The FotR was nominated this year for I think Best Motion Picture (Drama) and for another category (i forget what it was for now) and they won in BOTH of the categories. Since they weren't there, they filmed Sean Astin accepting the award. He had his daughter with him (who will be seen in RotK, or so i hear). They are personally, my favorite awards to watch because I think the "people" matter most  after all, we are who watch these films and pay for them! ;)
