Yet another day calendar poem! The picture is of Frodo and Sam walking home from the Green Dragon in the twilight.

"Shire Nights"

Summer nights in the Shire are warm and carefree,
Crickets sing in the grass;
Their chirpping by the road is a sweet melody;
Shire nights are blessed.

Streams flow, sparkling in the moonlight,
On their banks grow lilies and water cress.
Stars shine, and everything is right;
Shire nights are best.

The sun sets over the distant hill,
A bird settles down in her nest,
A Hobbit walks home from his work at the mill;
Shire nights are blessed.

Summer nights in the Shire are for fun and good times,
Drinking ale at the inn, or entertaining guests;
Laughing and talking or quoting a rhyme;
Shire nights are best.

Or perhaps there's a party in the cool evening air,
Everyone comes gayly dressed;
And every Hobbit dances with a Hobbit lass fair;
Shire nights are blessed.

Shire days are sunny and full of delight,
I enjoy them very much, nonetheless,
As I walk with my good friend in the starry twilight
I know Shire nights are best.

Thank you very much Tar! It was kind of hard trying to find all those words to rhyme with "blessed"!

I can imagine it was.
It's beautiful Wil. It just has that 'Shire-type' feel to it. I love your images, I can almost see and hear them.
