have you read the books?
k, ill answer your q anyway ... aragorn gimli and legolas are in rohan, and they need to get to gondor as quickly as possible, short way to get down to the south are the paths of the dead... paths, basically, with dead spirits of oathbreakers (people who didnt keep their vow to serve one of aragorn's ancestors)... aragorn summons the dead and they follow him down to the south through the paths... but more would be giving away the whole plot lol... is that enough?

No worries Roca........
Take your time....sometimes Tolkien can be a lot to digest! lol
Keep asking those questions though, there's a lot of folks here who have read them and will be more than happy to help you along. ;)

there is something else that puzzles me. in the sieze of gondor, it says rohan had arrived at last. but in the next chapter, rohan didn't get there yet. lol wtf

Tolkien oftens goes back in time to get the view of the other charaters, like when Pippin gets to gondor, Merry is riding with Theoden.
