why would you think any battle scene done by PJ would be 'kind of crappy' ? judging by the previous battle scenes he's done-- which is all you or anyone has to go by-- they will be fantastic

in the books, waaaaay bigger.... but then PJ made Helm's Deep bigger than it was in the books... still I'm thinking that would mean he'll make the other battles bigger as well

Well, i don't know about the pellenor fields, but in an interwiev 2001 PJ said there would be ALOT of orcs :) dunno what alot of orcs is in numbers, but it is alot :).
According to the book 4000 men from minas tirith finaly got to the black gate to challange mordor. but there were as much as 12 times more orcs then men, so i guess there has to be at least 48,000 orcs at the gates. compare that to the 10,000 there were at helms, and you realize how huge this will be ;)

uhh according to my brother, he says that 6,000 rohan guys come, 3,000 guys from this other place(not gondor) and that's it. except whatever happens with the dead people lol

well, thats how many that came to their aid and to defend the city. If im not misstaken 6000 came from rohan, 3000 cam from dol amroth and them 3000 more came from other places.
but when they challanged mordor they had to keep some defense at home. so they sent only 6000 men to mordor, and of those 6000 men only 4000 dared to march the whole way to the gates. the left stayed at cair andros.
