I don't know if this should go in Games or Humor......Mods, you can decided, and move it if you have to.

Anyway, I have been making LotR MadLibs and I wanted to try some of them here. So, you guys tell me some words when I ask for them, and I am going to take a little section of one of the books and then replace key words in it with the words you give me. When it is all done I will post the whole thing here for you to read. They are really funny!

OK, so my first one is going to be called "Encounter With Faramir".

Someone think of an emotion, any emotion will do.

Great idea Wil lol
I think that this is better of in Humour though.
If Orc or Catz disagree then I will soon see it it back again lol
Over she goes....

Oh and BTW

Emotion: happy

Wilwarin
February 1st,2003, 07:20 PM

I still need the name of one person.

Illuvatar

Last person: Courtney Love

Tári Celebrindal
February 8th,2003, 10:04 AM

Wilwarin
February 9th,2003, 07:41 PM
OK, here it is! I hope it's funny!

This is taken from TTT book.

"Sam Meets Faramir"

"Patience!" said Farmair, but without happiness. "Do not scream before your master, who's egg is bigger than yours. And I do not need anyone to teach me of our dinosaur. Even so I sneeze a funny book, in order to judge efficiently in pretty matter. Were I as deranged as you, I might have sliced you long ago. For I am commanded to slice all whom I find on this beach with the Stick of Gondor. But I do not slice birds or fish needlessly, and not noisily even when it is noisy. Neither do I gasp in meadows. So be comforted. Hop by your master and be silent!"
Sam hopped heavily with a chrunchy rock. Faramir turned to Frodo again. "You asked how the child of Amelia Earhart is slippery. Mooses of slipperiness have manny ropes. Courtney Love oft brings snow to near kindred 'tis said. Bill Clinton was my brother."

OK that's all. Was that funny? I know some parts of it don't make any sense. But oh well.
Would you like me to do another one? Or would someone else like to try?

HobbitFriend
February 9th,2003, 09:48 PM

Ithielnor

Bill Clinton?!!! What a suprise. lol

That is good Wil. Do another.

Wilwarin
February 10th,2003, 11:21 PM
Well, I can. Since I happen to have one all ready to go. But someone else can do one if they feel up to the challenge.

If no one else want's to go, then I'll just start:

Give me 2 verbs, one noun, and a verb that describes a sound (yell, cry etc.)

You know? I think I'll just ask for all of the words I need all at once, that way it will save time and posts. So, including those posted above give me the following:

3 verbs
3 things
2 verbs that describe a sound
2 places with names (in M.E. or not)
5 adj.
1 person from M.E.
2 people (in M.E. or not)
a number between 10 and 100
1 adverb.

OK, after I have all these I will be able o post the finished MadLib  Then some else can try.

Ithielnor
February 10th,2003, 11:32 PM
A place: Narnia (Ok different writer ;) )
number: 37

Galadriel
February 11th,2003, 12:11 AM
M.E person: Legolas

Tári Celebrindal
February 11th,2003, 03:26 AM
thing: skateboard
adj #1: petrified

SindarinGirl
February 11th,2003, 02:59 PM
Things: blender, toothbrush
Adjectives: sweaty, green

"Hop by your master" - that was great! lol

Thanks Wilwarin! notworthy

Elbereth
February 11th,2003, 06:41 PM
To describe a sound
um
caterwaul (please check spelling!)
screech

Daughter of Gondor
February 11th,2003, 08:38 PM
Adj. discordant
Thing butcher knife

Wilwarin
February 11th,2003, 11:42 PM
These are great guys! Almost done, here is what I still need:

4 verbs
1 place name (in M.E. or not)
1 adverb
2 people (in M.E. or not)
1 adj.

Tári Celebrindal
February 12th,2003, 04:40 AM
adj: spine-tingling
verb: splutter

SindarinGirl
February 12th,2003, 04:40 PM
Place Name: Bora Bora
People: Thor Heyerdahl, Carmen Miranda

Daughter of Gondor
February 12th,2003, 09:58 PM
Verb: liquify, detangle

Wilwarin
February 12th,2003, 10:36 PM
OK, most of those were good, but I need a different verb besides "detangle" that one just won't make any sense in this MadLib, and they're not as funny if they don't make a LITTLE sense!

Also, can I have a different name other than Thor Heyerdahl? That one's kind of hard. Preferably only a first name. Actually, one from M.E. would work better here.

Tári Celebrindal
February 12th,2003, 10:48 PM
ME name: Groin

HobbitFriend
February 13th,2003, 01:21 AM
verb: skip, chase

SindarinGirl
February 13th,2003, 09:44 PM

HobbitFriend
February 13th,2003, 09:54 PM
lol i don't think he did; as far as i know, there's only a "Gloin" (with accent on the 'O' ;) )

Wilwarin
February 13th,2003, 10:41 PM
Perhaps that was just a typo? I'll use Gloin anyway.

OK, I still 3 words before it's done:

1 adv.
1 sound verb
1 adj.

This one I think is funnier than the first one so far! lol

Daughter of Gondor
February 13th,2003, 11:24 PM
adj: resilient
sound verb: *not sure what you mean but* snorted ?

Galadriel
February 13th,2003, 11:55 PM
Adv. Lightly

Tári Celebrindal
February 14th,2003, 02:30 AM
Wait :o !!! It's not a typo! There IS an ME person named Gróin! I swearsssss on precioussss...

*takes deep breath* He has two kids, Óin and Glóin, and Glóin was Gimli's father which makes Gimli Gróin's grandson! :whoohoo: roflmao

well anyway, here's an adverb: splendidly

SindarinGirl
February 14th,2003, 04:36 PM
Groin! Oh dear, how unfortunate. lol

In the Silmarillion, I keep reading about the hill of Tuna, and I can't help but laugh. lol

Oh! On topic: Let's hear the MadLib! And who's doing the next one? :whoohoo:

Tári Celebrindal
February 14th,2003, 04:54 PM
Yes, I know! I wonder if Groin's parents weren't glad when he was born roflmao
No wonder Gimli's that way...lol

Well, Wilmarin? Let's get it on!

Daughter of Gondor
February 14th,2003, 09:25 PM
Where did you come accross the name of Groin?

Tári Celebrindal
February 15th,2003, 02:52 PM
I can't remember where exactly...:( Maybe in the hobbit...or lotr...oh no...i'll have to look for it... :read:)

Wilwarin
February 15th,2003, 09:34 PM
OK, sorry! I wasn't able to get online yesterday. Is it alright if I just keep the name Gloin? Since it is funnier with that name, and since most people have never heard of Groin. But you can read it Groin if you want.

OK, here is MadLib # 2!:

"Frodo Confronts the Nazgûl at the Ford of Bruinen"

Suddenly the Rider spurred his horse foward. It skipped at the water and reared up. With a great effort Frodo spluttered and brandished his skateboard.
"Go back!" he screeched. "Go back to the land of Narnia, and liquify me no more!" His voice sounded green and petrified in his own ears. The Riders halted, but Frodo had not the toothbrush of Legolas. His enemies laughed at him with discordant and resilient luaghter. "Come back! Come back!" they called. "To Bora Bora we will take you!"
"Go back!" he caterwauled.
"The Blender! The Blender!" they snorted with spine-tingling voices; and immediately their leader chased his horse forward into the watter, followed lightly by 37 others.
"By Carmen Miranda and Gloin the sweaty," said Frodo with a last effort, lifting up his skateboard, "you shall have neither the Blender nor me!"

lol there you go guys! Now someone else do one!

Ithielnor
February 15th,2003, 10:46 PM
"followed my 37 others" omg that's some big odds. lol

Galadriel
February 15th,2003, 11:08 PM
lol

HobbitFriend
February 15th,2003, 11:21 PM
roflmao Frodo's got a skateboard?! :elfeek: hahaha i liked "The Blender! The Blender!" lol "you shall have neither the Blender nor me!!" *jeesh... with 37 people running after Frodo (with his skateboard ;) ) you'd think he'd just give them the blender ;) lol roflmao lol

Galadriel
February 16th,2003, 12:47 AM
Well you never know he may have become pretty attached it it. lol

Tári Celebrindal
February 16th,2003, 05:49 AM

Winyaél Greenleaf
February 21st,2003, 09:42 AM
Yoz! Sorry ppl, been caught up with sch work, so i couldn't come online for 2 days. Anyway heres madlib #3. Those words in red are your contributions (some are slightly modified to fit the text), i think you guys can pick them out. The paragraph was originally extracted from Flotsam and Jetsam (Pg. 549).

'Now let us take our computer here for a little!' said Aragorn. 'We will sit on the penguin and do yoga according to that 'Yoga for Idiots' CD-rom, as Gandalf says, while he is skydiving elsewhere. I feel an itchiness such as I have seldom felt before.' He wrapped his grey tights about his butt and smote his hairy legs. Then he burped and sent from his lips a dribble of saliva.

' Gadzookssssss ' said Gollum, 'Strider the baby , we wantssss to go fishingssss...'

'We shall not go fishingssss... I mean, fishing. We shall continue with our yoga.' said Aragorn. 'And I am not a baby. I am Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, and I belong both to Moria and New Zealand.

Ok, that was it. Hoped you enjoyed it. Thanks for your contributions, pple, but i couldn't used some of them cuz they didn't quite fit in. The 'burped' was contributed by myself in the end, and FireKnight6, though you meant to contribute smite for the 1st one, i used it anyway. (changed it to smote).
btw, why was Gollum with Aragorn?

lol

Glarawen
February 21st,2003, 12:28 PM

lol it might have been one of those flashback scenes where Gandalf (i think) was explaining how he had searched everywhere for Gollum and how he had sent Aragorn to find him. That's when they found out that Gollum had been to Mordor. ;)
btw... nice mad-lib! lol

Galadriel

HobbitFriend
February 25th,2003, 02:00 AM
i think it's supposed to be an exerpt from the book. Would you like to try the next one, Glarawen?

Glarawen
February 25th,2003, 02:14 AM
oh no you will have to give me some time before i try to do one..... ;)

HobbitFriend
February 25th,2003, 08:39 PM
haha okay... i don't really have time right now to do one either... anyone else up for it??

Wilwarin
February 26th,2003, 12:17 AM
I'll do one, since I have one ready.

OK I need:

- one type of clothing (the more specific the better)
- 14 adjectives (yes, you read right!)
- 2 general things
- Object # 1
- part of Object # 1
- Object # 2 (something that can move or has moving parts)
- part of Object #2 (something that can move)
- verb discribing the movement of the part of Object #2 (confused yet?)
- one piece of furniture
- one room in a house
- a race of people (fictional)
- one color
- 3 verbs
- one hat or other thing you wear on your head
- one body part (be nice)
- one verb having to do with eyes
- one name of a group of things (cookie crumbs, chunks of ice, etc.)

OK that's all, that's a lot really! Maybe I shouldn't have listed them all at once. Oh well! Have at it guys!

Wilwarin
February 26th,2003, 12:30 AM
Oops! I forgot one!

- one person, animal or occupation (one or the other, not all three)

Glarawen
February 26th,2003, 02:43 AM
how bout:
one verb having to do with eyes: see
a race of people (fictional): elves [i hope this isnt ratting on them]
- one person, animal or occupation: snake
one color: um how bout green

that is quite alot there but u have a lot of things!!!

Winyaél Greenleaf
February 26th,2003, 10:50 AM
Object 2: Hamster (Do you consider it an object?)
Part of Object 2: Whiskers
Verb for object 2: Twitching
Thing you wear on your head: Bonnet
One body part: Toenail
Object 1: sneakers
Part of object 1: shoelaces

one name of a group: (spark plug) wires
piece of furniture: footstool

Tári Celebrindal
February 26th,2003, 02:59 PM
Adj 2 & 3: sparkling, horrible

could you tell us the remaining words we have to mention, Wil?

Kwijibo
February 26th,2003, 04:50 PM
Ooh! I know these! I did one once that came with something about Gollum leaping like a slug - if you're interested, I'll post it!

Type of clothing - Odd spotty sock :)

BTW - Can I try the next one?!?

Wilwarin
February 28th,2003, 11:51 PM
Yes, Kwijibo, you can do the next one after this one is finished. I think we should just keep this thread for the making of new MadLibs. I have two dozen other MadLibs I've made that I could post here, but that would get kind of confusing I think. That's just my opinion though. Maybe we could create a thread just for completed MadLibs?

Here's what I still need guys:

- 11 adj.
- 2 things (one of them MUST be smaller than a cat)
- I need a different body part. toenail won't work.
- I need something else for Object # 1 (could also be a large animal, but doesn't have to be)
- 2 parts of Object # 1

I think that's all.

Galadriel
March 1st,2003, 12:47 AM

Here are some adjectives for you Wilwarin:
secretive
irresistible
colorful
bogus

Wilwarin
March 2nd,2003, 12:56 AM
OK, good, I have more than enough adj! I still need 2 objects.

Also "tongue" won't work either. I need a body part that's not so....I don't know...obscure? (you'll see why when the MadLib is finished.)

Wilwarin
March 2nd,2003, 12:58 AM
Oh, almost forgot. I also need something that is on a polar bear's face.

Wilwarin
March 2nd,2003, 01:04 AM
OK, I also need a different verb. One of them doesn't work. Since verbs are so hard to fit in right give me few different types to choose from.

Glarawen
March 2nd,2003, 03:59 AM
somin of a polor bears face: his nose
a verb: huh i aint sure by what ya want so how about the different kinds by hey i will try: skip, sleep, run, or jump??!? will any of those work?

Glarawen
March 2nd,2003, 11:23 PM
what else do you need to finish it?

Wilwarin
March 5th,2003, 12:13 AM
OK.......some of those verbs work, but I still need two more, I'll be more specific: I need a verb that is something a newspaper can do (but not something that you can do to a newspaper).
Also a verb that is something wires can do.

Plus I need two more adj. Then I will be done!

Glarawen
March 5th,2003, 01:03 AM
elecotrocute (wires can do)
fishy
and smelly (adj)

Wilwarin
March 5th,2003, 09:11 PM
OK! Wow that was a hard one! I hope it pays off! Here it is, MadLib # 4! (your contributions are in red)

"Meeting King Théoden"

Now the four companions went forward, past the smelly microwave burning upon the long footstool in the midst of the hall. Then they halted. At the far end of the house, beyond the footstool, facing north towards the toilet, was a polar bear with three paws; and in the middle of the polar bear's face was a stupid, dirty nose. Upon it sat a man so mad with age that he seemed almost an Elf; but his green hair was huge and colorful and fell like electrocuting wires from beneath a smelly comical bonnet set upon his brow. In the centre upon his forhead flapped a single fishy newspaper. His beard was twitching like hamster's wiskers at his elbows; but his eyes still saw with a greedy light, glinting as he gazed at the strangers. Behind his polar bear stood a woman clad in an odd spotty sock. At his feet, belching at the polar bear sat an irresistible figure of a snake, with a horrible suave face and strangely lidded eyes.

OK, next! I don't want to do one for a while!

Jee, this thread is in serious need of a MadLib! (All of you thought Sindarin was a girl! lol That's funny, I never thought that.)

OK, since it's been a few days and no one has started a MadLib I will! Just to keep this thread busy!

I need:

- 8 adj.
- 2 adj. discribing the looks of someone
- 1 number blow 10
- 1color
- 1 emotion
- 1 adverb
- 1 body of water
- 2 body parts (external)
- 1 object (small enough to hold in your hand)

That's all for now. There will be more later.

OK, now it's time to make MadLib...... # 5 is it?

Elleth
March 19th,2003, 12:50 AM
Thank you Wilwarin! We needed a Madlib badly. This thread was getting way off topic! lol Here are some words for you:
Color: turquoise
Number below ten: seven
2 body parts: elbow, chin
Hope these help you out.

Galadriel
March 19th,2003, 01:12 AM
Emotion: Excited
Body Of Water: English Channel

Winyaél Greenleaf
March 19th,2003, 08:24 AM

March 19th,2003, 12:07 PM
A new MadLib! A new MadLib!!! :hooray: :hooray: :hooray:

2 adj describing someone: horrifying, disturbing
1 adverb: graciously

Wilwarin
March 19th,2003, 10:31 PM
That was 2 adj that discribe the look of someone—like........specific. Their facial features or whatever. I'll keep those other two though and use them somewhere else.

What I need still:

- 2 different races of people
- something that can go fast (make is as long as you want. The lnger the funnier)
- 2 verbs
- 1 verb that is something you can do to someone else
- 1 verb that has to do with sight
- 1 thing small enough to hold in your hand (something that is roughly round would work best. heart-shaped keychain won't work, sorry!)
- 8 adj.
- I also need a different body part besides chin. Something that we have more than one of.

OK, that's all for now.

YayBoromir!
March 19th,2003, 10:37 PM
1 verb that is something you can do to someone else - whack
body part - arm
1 thing small enough to hold in your hand - hazelnut

Statch
March 20th,2003, 11:35 PM
2 verbs: drip and ooze

Narisunell
March 21st,2003, 01:47 AM
2 different races of ppl: how bout... dwarf and hobbit

8 adjectives: chubby, horrific, horrendous, fuzzy, wet, scary, smelly, and purplish!!

finally another madlib! what do you mean by

something that can go fast. (make it as long as you want. the longer the better)
?
i don't understand

Winyaél Greenleaf
March 21st,2003, 01:55 AM
Well, here's a tongue twister:
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper
A peck of pickled pepper Peter Piper picked
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper
Where is the peck of Pickled Pepper Peter Piper picked

Would that be something you had in mind about the something that can go fast??

Narisunell
March 21st,2003, 03:51 AM
oh, i'm all tongue tied now..

i verb that has to do with sight: scanned

Tári Celebrindal
March 22nd,2003, 02:23 PM
Weel, if you still need 2 adjectives to describe a specific look:
pock-marked, oily

Wilwarin
March 22nd,2003, 07:37 PM
OK, sorry I wasn't specific enough about the thing that can go fast. I meant something that can move fast, has moved fast at one time, or something like that. For instance, the first time I did this Madlib with a friend he picked "The wolf that ate the Silmarill from Beren's hand". So pick something like that.

OK, what I need still:

- a type of fish
- two verbs (sorry Statch, those ones won't work! They have be something that a person can do)
- I also need a few more adj. Some of those ones won't work. Some that aren't so long, and some that are a little more friendly)

I think that may be all after that.

Elleth
March 22nd,2003, 10:27 PM
Type of fish: clownfish
Verbs: sing, backflip

HobbitFriend
March 22nd,2003, 10:31 PM
adj: friendly ;)

Glarawen
March 22nd,2003, 11:56 PM
what do we need now?

Winyaél Greenleaf
March 23rd,2003, 03:16 AM
adj: esctatic

Wilwarin
March 23rd,2003, 07:42 PM
OK, I just need a few more adj. One that describes the physical look or texture of something. Then I need three or so adj. that don't have anything to do with emotions (ie. "disturbing", "scary", "sad", etc.)

I still need something that can move fast. I know, make it something in Middle-earth. But make it long, like don't just say something like "a warg", say "The wargs that attacked Bilbo and the Dwarves in the forest". Do you get what I mean now? Or am I hoping for too much?

After I have those things then I will be done I think.

Tári Celebrindal
March 24th,2003, 12:35 AM
Pippin when he saw mushrooms in the forest.

Will that do?

Elleth
March 24th,2003, 01:38 AM
Here are some adj: gigantic, fluffy, and sparkly

Winyaél Greenleaf
March 24th,2003, 03:47 PM
Texture: Slimey

Wilwarin
March 24th,2003, 10:54 PM
OK......guess what?...........It's finished! *Yay!*

Here it is. This is from the Hobbit, and it is when we first read about Gollum. (Your contributions are in red)

MadLib # 6

"Deep down here by the smelly water lived scary Gollum, a pock-marked oily creature. I don't know where he came from, nor what he was. He was Gollum—as horrifying as horror, except for seven turquoise, round, estatic eyes in his horrendous face. He had a slimey boat, and he rowed about quite graciously on the English Channel, for English Channel it was, wet and gigantic and purplish and sparkling. He paddled it with chubby elbows dangling over the side, but never a ripple did make. Not he. He was scanning out of his excited hazelnut-like eyes for clownfish, which he grabbed with his Dwarvish arms as quick as Pippin when he sees mushrooms in the forest. He liked meat too. Hobbit he thought good, when he could get it; but he took care they never found him out. He just whacks them from behind, if they ever do backflips alone anywhere near the edge of the water, while he was singing about.

There it is, I hope it was worth all this wating! Now someone else do one!!!!! PLEASE! ;)

March 24th,2003, 10:57 PM

Winyaél Greenleaf

Narisunell
March 27th,2003, 03:15 AM
okay, i g2g edit this so i can put in the colors.... gimme a sec...

yea, Win, there IS such a thing.

this might not be great, but i tried, so forgive me if u don't like it!!

Hardly had Pippin hidden the light of the fish when she came. A little way ahead and to his left he saw suddenly, issuing from a red stone of shadow under the cliff, the most loathly shape he had ever beheld, horrible beyond the horror of a fork . Most like a necklace she was, but huger than the great hunting beasts, and more terrible than they because of the evil purpose in her priceless eyes. Those same eyes that he had thought daunted and defeated, there they were lit with an infinitesimal light again, clustering in her out-thrust head. Great horns she had, and behind her short stalk-like neck was her huge swollen hand , a vast bloated bag, flying and sagging between her legs; its great bulk was yellow blotched with livid marks, but the belly underneath was pale and luminous and gave forth a stench. Her legs were bent, with great knobbed blue roses high above her back, and hairs that stuck out like chocolate that looked like dung , and at each leg's end there was a Mr. Potato Head.

how was that? did ya like it? i liked the end.... that was from 'Shelob's Lair' in TTT. hope ya enjoyed it!

Winyaél Greenleaf
March 27th,2003, 03:29 AM
you're supposed to post this at the completed madlib thread! lol post it there now.

Anyone?

Winyaél Greenleaf
April 8th,2003, 09:03 AM
Ok, I'll be brave and do one more. lol In the meantime, someone had better be preparing for a madlib too. lol

I need:
2 ME characters
2 nouns (objects)
3 verbs
2 types of clothing
1 noun (feeling)
2 adjectives

Here's where it gets complicated:
1 simile containing a verb and an object
('verb' like 'object') [can be just anything you think up, no need to be of the standard similes that we use. The verb CANNOT be an action verb!]

1 noun and a related simile
('noun' 'verb' like 'noun') [meaning that we need 2 nouns and 1 verb]

1 phrase that describes a type of sound [don't have to tell me what the sound is]

that's about all!

Glarawen
April 8th,2003, 01:11 PM
3 verbs

Bob
Blink

April 8th,2003, 07:47 PM
2 ME characters

Wilwarin
April 8th,2003, 09:56 PM

2 types of clothing: hoop skirt, jockey shorts (are those too goofy?)

Elleth
April 8th,2003, 10:07 PM
I'll try your similes.
Verb and object:
was like sunshine
Noun and related simile:
pigs smell like wood

Winyaél Greenleaf

1 phrase that describes a type of sound [don't have to tell me what the sound is]

1 noun (feeling)
2 adjectives

1 phrase that describes a type of sound [don't have to tell me what the sound is] (Elbereth, you have to alter yours by stating the noun, or someone can help her too)

By the way, I've decided that 'Pigs smell like wood' wouldn't work. Ok, here's how the exact phrase goes: 'verb' before his eyes like 'noun'.

Now c'mon, you guys can do it! Who's going to do the next madlib by the way?

Glarawen
April 13th,2003, 01:35 AM
I am still trying to do one i was going to do one about Shelobs lair after someone went and that was part of the madlib i was going to do! so i got to find something.....
