A cloaked figure made her way through the trees surronding a large and grand fortress. The figure climbs the hill the dark fortress is located on, and walks to the fortified gate.

The gate is pulled open, and the figure quickly enters. The gate closes with a faint thud, and all is still.

Or so it appears...

Inside the fortress men, orcs, Uruks, and even a few Elves were silently preparing for war. The archers were honing their already superb skills, the swordsmen sharpening their deadly, poisoned swords.

The figure made her way through the crowd, nodding to several warriors. She walked to a building near the center of the fort, and quietly knocked. The door opened, and the figure melted into the darkness.

She grabbed the torch from the doorwarden, and began walking through the dark corridors. The torch flickered several times, revealing blackness on all sides.

Still the figure walked on, carefully listening for his voice. She heard it, and turned down a damp corridor.

'How close are they Dawn?' Asked a piping male voice. The figure knelt. 'Twelve days my lord.' The male nodded, his curly brown hair flashing in the torchlight.

The cloaked figure stood, and threw back her hood, revealing long and glossy black hair, a scarred face, and intelligent eyes.

'Are they ready?' Asked the brown haired, short figure. Dawn nodded. 'We've trained them well Bandoras. But who can tell if they'll hold. Warfare is much tougher then training.' She said quietly, her mid-pitched voice echoing off the black stone walls.

Across the vale, a cloaked Elf hid in the shadows of a nearby oak tree. Silently, he watched the imposing fortress far-off in the distance.

The Elven Knight had observed the shrouded figure enter the fortress upon the hill. He secretly questioned her identity...and was uncertain as to what she and her friends had planned.

Laewethë rode faster. So fast, in fact, that it seemed as though her horse Morgaine was flying. In reality the mare was not, but she had the gift of quiet hooves. This dark fortress intimidated Laewethë, and the horse gave a shudder underneath her. Upon reaching a grove of trees a twenty-five meters away from the walls, she dismounted.

The elf saw a figure in the trees. She regretted that she lacked the keen eyesight of most elves. Thinking thus, she quietly unsheathed her sword, slipping into the darkest shadows. Silently, swiftly, she drew closer. . .

*The grey Knight captured a glimpse of the she-Elf approaching through the silence of the illustrious trees, her sword held unyieldingly at the ready.

The Elven Knight reached for one of the daggers hidden beneath his cloak for typical self-security against this unknown immortal.

Yet this fair creature who quietly approached was an Elf.

"Although fair you are", he thought to himself, "you could be quite lethal if engaged in armed combat...and it would be wise of me not to attack first."*

As Laewethë drew nearer, it became clear that the Being beneath the trees was of her kindred: he was an Elf as well. This, however, did not stop her suspicions. Many were the times that she heard tales of evil cloaked in a veil of beauty. She stopped a few feet in front of him, her palms sweating from the tight grip on her sword.

"Do not come closer! Are you friend or foe? State your purpose or you shall face the wrath of my sword!" As she looked upon him, Laewethë could sense a darkening in the surroundings. Evil was near. Her horse stirred in the background, but she did not heed.

*The grey Knight gazed upon the natural beauty of the she-elf before him...he could sense the firey passion within her soul.*

"I am Feanaro, mistress Elf...I am a knight in service to the Lord Elrond of Rivendell."

*The grey elf spoke in a calm, untroubled voice*

"I have travelled far from my homeland with immense suspicions about this place...Do not worry, my friend. It is not my intention to cause you harm."

*The Elven soldier sensed the presence of an unseen foe moving silently and secretively about the forest*

"Something evil draws near amongst these trees, she-elf...It is as if it were a shroud of darkness. Can you feel its power surround you like a veil of night?"

Arwen Elf
February 11th,2003, 02:30 AM
"Yes," she whispered. "Indeed I do feel it, and it chills me with terror." She put her sword back into its sheath, and saw the other elf make a similar movement. She stood for a moment in awkward silence.

"I have not introduced myself. And I think that since it seems as though we will be fighting together, I must. I am Laewethë, and I am glad that you have come, for my mind is greatly distressed." She gestured toward the dark fortress.

A cloaked figure approaches the grove of trees keeping out of sight from prying eyes. Upon seeing moving forms in the tress he stops. Cautiously he proceeds forward keeping in the shadows.
"Who are you two and what is your purpose. I do not strike for I see that you are one of the Eldar and I shall not strike one of my kin."

Dawn paced around the dark room, Bandoras watched her carefully. He leaned back in his chair.

'I'm waiting.' He said quietly. Dawn contiued pacing, her forehead furrowed in concentration.

'I can feel Elves.' She said slowly. Bandoras shrugged.

'We have Elves in our service.' He said off-handedly. Dawn shook her head. 'No, these are strangers to me.' She said forcefully.

Bandoras slid out of his chair. 'We'll go ask the guards to tighten partols, We'll add more guards.' He began pacing as well.

Dawn leaned against the wall, her dark brown, almost black eyes watching Bandoras.

'If they are watching, we should give no indication we know their there.'

Arwen Elf
February 11th,2003, 08:39 PM
"We have come to fight this new evil," replied Laewethë. "I know not what it is, but it is of a new and strange breed. Are you also of the same mission?" With this, she stirred a bit, for she was worried for her mare, Morgaine. She had not heard the horse move for a while. Laewethë whistled for the horse to come, and sighed a sigh of relief when the dark steed trotted over towards the trio. She turned her attention back on the new stranger.

'Why not?' Bandoras asked angrily. Dawn shook her head.

'They're here to fight us.' She said slowly. Bandoras' eyes grew wide. He sank to the floor, and looked up at the almost six-foot half-elf.

'So it begins.'

Dawnnamira Nerwen
February 12th,2003, 01:49 AM
'Indeed it does.' Dawn answered. Bandoras shivered. Dawn smiled. 'He always did hate blood, that's why he got me.' She thought to herself.

She left the room Bandoras was in, and walked back into the courtyard of the imposing fortress. The Elves had finished, and they were conversing amongst themsleves. Dawn walked over to them, and watched as they all knelt.

She lifted her hand, and they all stood. 'Celegrimor, are they ready?' She asked, pointedly ignoring the rest of the group.

The silver-haired Elf walked to her side. 'Yes they are Mistress.' He whispered. She nodded, her eyes a ring of white surounding the pupil, and then black, creating an surreal look.

*Sindarin once again turned his attention toward the dark fortress upon the hill...

...He sensed the firery, formidable spirit of the warrior she-elf that resided within its cold, grey stones.*

"This Elf is something of a enigma," Sindarin thought to himself. "Indeed, her soul is quite mystifying...She is very powerful, and I would very much like to meet with her under peaceful circumstances."

I might have known. Here's one of your warriorsEriol leaves the wounded elven warrior he was carrying gently on the floor I only could save him the others died...just like two of my army. You have to stop this now. There's no use in having brother fighting again brother and I will not stand to see elven blood spilled by the hand of their own keen. Where's the little one,Lady Dawnnamira? Take me to Bandoras.

Dawnnamira Nerwen
February 12th,2003, 09:06 PM
Very well. Dawn said icily. She turned to the other Elves. 'Take care of him.'

She looked at Eriol, and walked into the building. She took a torch from a bracket on the wall, and led Eriol to Bandoras' room.

She knocked on the wood door quietly, and then pushes it open. 'Eriol wants to talk to you Bandoras.'

The hobbit kept staring at the man until...
Eriol,my old friend, what business brought you here, friend of the elves? I understand you want to talk with me?
-I don't know what you are trying to do,but whatever it is I don't like it.Stop this madness, Bandoras, you will have no victory...
- Unless, of course I have The Healer on my side...
-Don't even think about that. I'll return to my people and you will let me. My place is with the elves...
- You can see elves right here...
- Sorrounded by orcs and Uruks! Listen to me, they will destroy you. It's a powerful army coming for you. I don't want to fight and kill elves...
- But you CAN'T fight elves, my friend. It's in your blood, your weakness.I'll take care of your "army". You are afraid.
- It is you who should be afraid.
silence and tension began to grow between this two singular characters. It was like they knew what was going to happen
-So...hobbit
- Get away from me.If you change your mind....
- I won't.
Eriol walked away and looked at Dawn
-You should know better...

Dawnnamira Nerwen
February 12th,2003, 09:40 PM
Dawn looked at Eirol, her eyes still the mixture of black and white.

Indeed I should, and I do. Dawn said as she followed him out.

I fight against my 'kin', although many of them have disowned me since birth, because I cannot go against Bandoras. He needs me.

She finished slowly.

Cuthalion

soft footfalls are heard behind them and soon an elf maiden appears, carrying a bow. She speaks quietly but clearly
Greetings, I presume you are the Lady Laewethë? I am known as Elwen and I have travelled far to join you. Eriol climbed up a small hill as fast as he could. Then he walked slowly towards the forests until the voices of the three (now four) figures could be heared clearly .

Now, Eriol knew he was no longer unnoticed. Alerted but unarmed he took a step out of the covering shadows.A chill ran through his back as he approached the elves.Bandoras was right. No matter what would happen,he couldn't kill elves
-You shouldn't be here if you don't belong to the black fortress. There is evil all around and that can't be good for an elf.

Arwen Elf
February 15th,2003, 12:51 AM
"Yes, Elwen," Laewethë said before she sensed the man, then suddenly, "He is coming!" With this she unsheathed her sword. When he spoke, she hesitated.

"And what would you know of that?" she asked, sarcasm dripping at every word. She strode in front of the others, meeting him as he approached. She stared at him with cold gray (grey) eyes, keeping her sword in hand. "I know it is but a halfling who leads this force. He should not be hard to crush."

With this, Laewethë smiled, rather malevolently, showing a gesture with the word "crush". A shiver ran up her spine, as though she were changing. She felt very bellicose and warlike. She almost wished for the stranger to attack.

Dawn had returned to the control center of the fortress, and she was pacing again. Bandoras watched her, his eyes following her as she walked back and forth.

'You're making me nervous.' He said. Dawn whirled around to face him, her eyes bright red.

'I'm sorry. But if I don't pace, I'll have to kill someone to release my hatred.' She said, her hand resting near one of her swords. Bandoras cringed.

'Pace to your heart's content.' He said. Dawn began pacing again. 'Thank you, I shall.'

February 16th,2003, 02:58 AM
Renell sat quietly on her horse in the shadow of the trees, watching the elves from a short distance. Her elvish cloak kept her from being seen, even by elvish eyes, but she felt sure all must know she was there. Something told her to keep still. She was not elven, and it was likely that no one here would care to talk to her. She might even be considered an enemy. A rare feeling or regret for leaving her home so many years ago swept over her, but she shook her head silently to clear her thoughts, and it vanished. Then she asked herself whether it was her home in Rohan she truly missed, or did she now miss the woods of Lorien where she had been living fopr the past half year.

Forcing herself to take her mind of those thoughts, she watched the others closely again. Renell wished for sleep that she could not have. At least while she slept her mind did not trouble her with stupid thoughts and questions.

"You are a woman of Rohan, and that's all you'll ever be, with or without Lady Galadriel's favor. You are beneath the elves, Renell, what are you doing here?"

She spoke out loud, not realizing it until to late. She knew in an instant that it would probably attract at least one person's attention. She both wanted and did not want to be discovered. Now her fate was out of her hands.

Arwen Elf
February 16th,2003, 03:18 AM
Laewethë's sword dropped with a soft thud on the mossy ground. She had not the faintest clue why she had acted in such a manner. She turned. Her horse Morgaine sniffed the air and let a soft whinny of greeting. She heard a soft voice in the brush. Distracted ,she picked up her sword, glared at the stranger, then left the council.

The new person, a woman apparently of Rohan, stared at her from her horse. Laewethë was not sure if this was friend or foe, but she would not act as she had with that other one. She drew her arm to her side, not trying to be threatening.

"You come at an awkward and inopportune moment, Lady of Rohan. You wear the cloak of Lothlorien and the Lady Galadriel. You are here to join us in our quest?" With this, she turned her head, glaring at the other stranger. She turned back to the task at hand, and put her piercing gaze on the woman.

*Sindarin watched the Horse Mistress alongside Laewethe, secretly questioning the young maiden's presence here*

"Who are you...Lady of Rohan?"

Elven Daughter
February 16th,2003, 06:50 PM
Renell was silent for a moment. Her nerves seemed to have scattered. She felt as if she would turn and flee when suddenly her necklace shifted slightly against her skin as her horse shook an insect off. Taking the tiny mithril horse in her fingers, she remembered who she was. "You are no coward, Renell." she thought swiftly. Quickly, she recalled the elvish phrases she had been taught recently.

"Mae govannen, friends. Saesa omentien lle. Indeed, I have come to join you. My name is Renell daughter of Rehina, and indeed, I am maiden of Rohan, though of late my home has been in Lorien with the Lady of the Golden Wood, but there is little time for the story explaining that. May I ask for your names? "

She dismounted and stepped out of the shadows, revealing herself fully to their eyes. Nervously, she brushed a loose strand of hair out of her green eyes. Instead of looking at the elves in front of her, she gazed at the large fortress. A shiver went through her. An odd thought crossed her mind. Had her father been one of them? Had he been on "the wrong side," as her mother had always called it? Without being aware of it, her hand went directly to her bracelet, which made only a slight jangling sound that shook her from her thoughts. Something told her to conceal the bracelet again, even though she could see no reason. She quietly pushed it back beneath the small bell of her sleeve.

Arwen Elf
February 16th,2003, 08:08 PM
"I am Laewethë, a lady of Mirkwood. If the others don't mind, I shall introduce them, as we do have little time. Here is Feanaro." She gestured to her right. "Will you keep an eye on that other stranger?" she whispered aside to him. "This is Elwen, and Halindir. You come, as I have said, at an inopprtune moment, as a certain stranger has approached from the Dark Fortress. Perhaps with your skill as sword maiden you may be able to get him to confess why he comes hither from thither."

The elf no longer looked at the Lady with suspicion. For an instant she gave her a smile of welcome, but it was time for business. She again turned her attention to the stranger who had said nothing the entire time. She could not quel her suspicions.

Elven Daughter
February 16th,2003, 09:02 PM
Renell felt more at ease, but the presence of the stranger would not let her totally relax. Instead, her hand went to the hilt of her sword.

"Give me your name. By what means are you here?" she said just loud enough for the stranger to hear.

Elbereth
February 16th,2003, 09:36 PM
Elwen watched the introductions silently, bowing slightly when she herself was introduced. Silently she slipped behind the stranger Eriol, her hand reaching for one of the long daggers she carried
I would answer Renell with a civil tounge, stranger, unless you wish to find out just how deep a blade of Lorien can bite.

Elven Daughter
February 16th,2003, 09:54 PM
Renell's eyes widened the slightest bit when she heard Elwen. She gazed at the stranger for a split second before she released the grip she had on her sword. She knew hostility would not help. Instead, she showed her hands, empty of all weapons. She sensed no evil around this stranger. Still, she knew at the back of her mind that one could not be too careful, and was glad the elves still held their weapons.

"Will you speak stranger? Your name is all I ask. Come, I am no enemy if you be friend."

Cuthalion
February 17th,2003, 03:08 PM
Eriol looked at the woman but he couldn't stare at her for long. For the first time in his life,Eriol Elfwine,The Healer of Mirkwood hesitated
I am Eriol Elfwine. Do not be afraid of me, ladies. I came here from Mirkwood under the protection of King Thranduil. I guess we are all in the right side... when he said that,he would bet a spark passed through the eyes of the woman. Who was she? so doubtful and so fair and strong enough to bring hesitation to his heart .I think our friend elf here could have tell you something about me. You knew who I was before I came here, didn't you? ...and you know who I just met with in the black fortress...

Elven Daughter
February 17th,2003, 03:35 PM
Renell studied him carefully. "I am right in saying that you are not elven, Eriol? How is it that you come to us under protection of King Thranduil of Mirkwood? We are in similar circumstances, I believe."

She paused, glancing him up and down once more, clearly to be certain that he was not a deciever and liar. Once more she spoke.

"As you have heard, my name is Renell, but under the care of the elves I was given a second name, Naethwen. You may call me as you wish."

Dawnnamira Nerwen
February 17th,2003, 03:44 PM
Dawn's head snapped up. She clenched her hands together and started for the door. Bandoras stood up and hurriedly followed her.

That weak hearted 'healer' is betraying us. She answered, obvious disgust and hatred in her voice. Bandoras paused.

Renell nodded and started forward, but stopped abruptly.

"Oh, wait, I have to do something first." She returned to where her horse stood patiently. First, she drew an elvish bow from it's place, attached to the saddle. Then, taking the saddlebag and placing it over her shoulder, she murmered a few words to her horse.

"Vanya sulie. Kela, Vanima, rima." The horse trotted off, away from the fortress, apparantly glad to be going. Renell turned and hurried back to the others.

"I think it will be safer to travel on foot. They know were here, or at least they will soon enough. A horse is too easy to track."

Elbereth
February 18th,2003, 05:47 PM
Indeed, I too would feel safer if we left this place and found shelter elsewhere. We may have reason to fight against what is in that fortress, but prevoking an attack at the moment would be foolish.

Cuthalion
February 18th,2003, 09:58 PM
Not just foolish but suicidal. You don't know what you're up against. It is not just a hobbit concealed in that fortress. Quick! we have to reach that hill in the western side of the forest. We will find shelter there...

Dawnnamira Nerwen
February 18th,2003, 10:09 PM
Dawn flew out of the command center and began climging the outside wall of it. When she had reached the top she looked down and began speaking.

Hear me all loyal warriors. One whom many of us trusted has betrayed us. Many of you know Eriol, and I want to tell you of his treachery before one of you are killed by him.

She looked around the courtyard, looking every bit a wounded Mistress.

Any warriors in our service that are found with him will be killed.

The elven lady was loathe to part with her horse, but did so begrudgingly. It was even more begrudgingly that she followed this man whom she still did not trust. Perhaps he wasn't the malevolent antagonist he seemed in her eyes, but she had developed a certain disdain for the male of the species of men. She knew them to be easily corrupted and quick to change sides.

As she followed the group in the rear, she kept her penetrating gaze on the man's back. So strong was her gaze, in fact, that in a moment of childishness she almost thought she would burn a hole into his back with her eyes. Laewethë could not help but smile at this lack of maturity, but soon resumed her mission.

A hobbit, she thought. The world controlled by a hobbit. Ha!

Elwen walked silently with the others, watching. It had been a day like this one when they killed her brother. Unthinkingly she ran a finger over the scar on her left palm, it was a day like this when she vowed she would never trust another unquestioningly again. Unconsiously her hand wandered to the hilt of her dagger and stayed there. 'We shall see' she thought, 'we shall see'.

Eriol knew they had to get to the hill as soon as possible. There was no time to explain. Maybe later, maybe not at all.He knew he was bringing danger over those innocent beings, but he was on the run now and they were too.He was sure he would have to leave them at some point but the girl...that woman was confusing his thoughts. What to do now?

"Are you troubled, my friend? the grey Knight asked.

Cuthalion
February 19th,2003, 10:11 PM
Eriol didn't look at the elf
There's no time for words now. We are getting closer....though you didn't answer my question before. You know who is looking at us from that fortress, don't you? You know this is not about "just a hobbit".

Elven Daughter
February 20th,2003, 01:53 AM
Renell, who had been following silently, suddenly spoke quietly. Her words had an odd quality, like to wind in the trees, but she was clear.

"I have seen a good few evils in my small numbers of years, but there is something about that fortress that is greater than anything I have ever known before, good or evil. I feel the eyes of a woman, of all things, and her eyes burn all things in their path, it seems. Alas, if these are the bad dreams of men I have no wish to see those of an elf... "

She fell silent, her head dropped towards the ground, and she did not look up for a time. Her face showed little emotion.

"If I have been silent, it is only because the dark fortress could have spies in its service...spies who might very well be patrolling these same woods we now walk through...and to answer your question, I know not who is watching us from within the fortress...I only sense the power of their spirits which pierce the cold stone surrounding them."

*Feanaro continued, speaking silently*

"As for the Hobbit...I was hoping you would tell me who he is, for mere suspicion has drawn me to this forsaken place...far from my homeland, far from safety...and furthermore, if there is something else to this situation, I would like to know exactly what it is."

There it is. Can you see that cave on the left? That's where we are going to spend the night. Follow me, I will tell you all I know about this menace. Feanaro and I will go first and make sure the cave is clear if you agree, my friend. The rest of you take cover in those trees over there.Suddenly he realized that Renell wasn't there with them. Where is the woman? Where is Renell? He started to run back the path they were following before Wait for me! He didn't have to go far. A few meters from there, Renell was laying on the ground. Renell, we cannot stay here, let's go.

"My father... Who is my father? Where is he?"

She suddenly was pulled out of her sleep, she became more alert. Here eyes opened suddenly, and before anyone could touch her, she lept to her feet, catlike. She backed away, and avoided their eyes while she brushed herself off.

"We mustn't linger here..." was all she would say.

"Do you know, when I came to stay with the elves, they gave me the name Naethwen. I was told that it meant "Woman of Sorrow" or "sorrow maiden." I thought that they were crazy at first for naming me such. Everything the elves did just interested me in a way I had not been before. They were so different from people at home. I thought about it for a while, and I realized they were right to give me such a name. I don't believe I've smiled, really smiled, since she died. You know..."

Laewethe gradually snuck away from the others. It was easy, since the commotion with the woman of Rohan had left the others' minds on her. Indeed the Elf did not wish harm on the girl, but ever since she heard they were to go to a cave, she knew she would not join them. And thus she left the party.

Silently, she walked the woods, hand on the hilt of her sword. She would not be induced to follow the party into a cave of all places. No. She vividly remembered the last time she was in a cave and it would not happen again. Besides, Laewethe had to get to that hobbit and tear out his throat.

Wait, she thought. What am I thinking? Perhaps the air affects my senses and drives me mad. Perhaps I don't belong here. But what would theythink? But I must get to that Halfling. He has perverted the entire race! And then. . .

At this, she stopped, not wanting to think of her other reasons for joining such a mission. For surely, though of a kind race, she had not only her kindness as a motive for this mission.

It's taking me." With this, she slipped down under a tree, dead leaves crunching softly under her weight. Her white gown billowed around her, as though she were surrounded by clouds. She stared up at Feanaro, and sighed, keeping her thoughts to herself.

Her pride would not allow her to ask for help, and besides, she knew not how anyone could help her.

The sun began to go down prematurely. Laewethë could feel the natural shadow of the night sky passing over. A faint breeze stirred the leaves. She closed her eyes and thought of many years she had spent under trees listening to the melodies of the leaves. Trees could tell so much.

Oddly enough, I begin to feel at peace, though I know war draws near." She turned her head back to face him, searching his eyes. "We may not make it. I am supposing you know this. "There are so many reasons, I do not think I can count them all. It has been said that the hobbit has my sister, and my love. I don't want to. . . "she cut herself off. However, with an encouraging look from Feanaro, she continued.

"I did love him, Quandel, but his heart belonged to my sister. For a while I felt bitter, yes, I drank of that hateful cup. But my love for him blinded me. And my love for her. For she was my sister, and we were always so close, Maewanë and I. But one day, they left together, fleeing into the forest of my homeland. I know, for I saw them go. Oh, with such bitterness I saw them go.

"I know not if you know the feeling, but it tormented me. Oh, they were probably frolicing under the trees, dancing in the meadow, and I hated it.

"I awaited their return, with anger and malice in my heart. I thought that as soon as Qaundel and Maewanë came back, I would chastise them both, making up some excuse that Maewanë was needed at home, then I would part the two. But they did not return.

"A messenger, a man of a nearby village came to say that he saw the two go into a cave and that they did not return. But that was not his purpose. No, he said a vast host of orcs and elves had come to that village and ransacked it. They did not kill all, oh no. They would have as many prisoners as was within reason. Of course, there were some who fought back, and you can guess their fate. But I doubt my sister and Quandel had a chance to fight back.

"And so, my family sent me, knowing me to be both the strongest and the closest to my sister. . . and Quandel. Of course they did not know of my affections. And so, I was driven here with a guilty conscience and a broken heart, spurred on by internal blame. And so, here I am." The elf sighed and looked down at her gown. She knew not Feanaro's response, and she wished she hadn't told him, but from the first (besides the incident when she thought him a villain), she felt a certain comfort and safety with him near. She clasped her hands together and let one stray tear drop down her pale cheek.

In the cave Elwen got Renell to sit down and began to make the cave a comfortable a shelter as possible. Too long had she lived in rough caves to forsake what little comfort could be gained. It was a relief to drop her pack and sit for a while. Elwen sat leaning against the rough stone and gazing out. Occasionally she glanced at the others before reurning to her habit of running her finger over the scar on her palm and thinking. Suddenly she noticed the missing people Where are Feanaro and Laewethe? They have gone? she asked, and shivered as she remembered saying almost those exact words once before. Not the cave, not the cave! thought Laewethë frantically.Anywhere but the cave! Please don't take me to the cave! I can't. . . I can't.

Her breast heaved as they ran. He was taking her against her will, but she could neither do nor say anything to stop him. Her already poor vision was getting blurry. The light and darkness were intermingling. Uh-oh! It's coming soon. I know I'm not going to last long!

She felt her legs give way underneath her, and all light faded into a black void. . .

"Why have you done this to me? It was your fault we were caught and killed! What have I done to you? I only cared for you. You were my sister. Now you are no better than the Noldor of old. Kinslayer!" It was her sister. Decked in a black hood, her pale face shown in the moonlight. "I know that you 'loved' him. How could any love come from your foul heart? You left us to die. Don't deny it, you know you did. Do you know what happened to him? Do you?"

Laewethë stared at her sister, Maewanë, for she could do nothing else. The scene was shrouded in darkness. No.

"Yes. Come here Quandel. Show her your face. Show the one who really loves you what she has done to you." Another figure approached, covered in a dark cloak similar to Maewanë's. He came so close, about two inches away from her face. And yet she could not make out his features.

"Laewethë," the figure whispered in a harsh hiss. "See what has become of your 'Beloved'." With this, the figure lifted his hood, and Laewethë felt a scream rise in her throat. Before her was a horror she had never seen. What she supposed was Quandel had a face riddled with scars and burns to such an extent that it was blackened. The once green eyes were now such a deep shade of black jet and red veins could be seen like a map of rivers. The once beautiful dark hair was now a horrible shade of blood red and cut to his chin. Such a sight she had never seen or even heard of in all her life.

"I know you have never seen such, but this is what you have done," said Quandel.

"And you shall pay," added Maewanë.

She looked around her and locked eyes with a dark blue figure. Dawn trembled, yet the figure held her gaze. It stepped closer and Dawn gasped in recognition. Suddenly she was thrown into the normal world.

She looked around and beckoned for Bandoras to lean close to her. She breathed deeply and then whispered something into his ear.

'Pallando.' She whispered. Bandoras gasped and looked into her eyes. She nodded and motioned for a piece of paper and pen. Bandoras retrieved one and handed them to her. She quickly sketched a rough drawing of the wizard she had seen.
