Brandy Hall ~ An Inn

[Dark Queen]

:) Welcome to Brandy Hall! :)

The description of this inn is like that of The Last Homely House.

Frodo was now safe in the Last Homely House east of the Sea. That house was, as Bilbo had long ago reported, 'a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all'. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear, and sadness.

There is just one thing I need to add to that - just talking to people with your favourite drink in your hand. You can talk about whatever you like in here.

So sit down, order any refreshments you require, and have fun!entdraught

As you enter Brandy Hall you are immediately struck by the friendliness of the place. You look around the inn, taking in the scene. On your left is the bar, serving any drinks you could desire. Further in on the left are the kitchens, serving all foods. To your right are many tables of different shapes and sizes. In each corner are lower tables surrounded by comfy armchairs. There are lanterns hanging at regular intervals down the walls and around the bar and kitchens. Even so, the light is soft, not harsh. The far wall opposite you is lined with bookshelves and cupboards crammed full of books and other things. If it is music you want, you will find it in those cupboards. The door to the cellar (should you wish to know) is located to the back of the bar. The stairs to the first floor are in the far right hand corner, as you look at the inn from the door. On the first floor you may have friendly fights, should you wish.

[Sauron's Secret Agent]

A horse rides up to the inn, with a weary rider on its back. The lady dismounts, tethers her horse, and enters the inn.

Looking around, she finds this a most welcoming place. She makes her way into the bar, and orders a pint of ale. Then takes it to a nearby table, and looks around for stimulating company.

[Dark Queen]

The owner of this establishment pours herself a glass of fine wine and moves over to sit with the newly arrived rider.

Welcome to Brandy Hall! May I join you?

[Dark Queen]

The inn is very quiet. Will no one else join us?

She rises, taking the glasses with her and returns with them both full.

Thought you could do with a refill.

/me strolls in off the street....

After a hard days work, and feeling very tired, he wanders over to the far end of the bar(as is habit with him), and politly awaits the barkeep.

Looking around he finds the new tavern nice and hospitable, but with only a couple of young ladies at one table, he wonders where all the townsfolk may be. Do they not know of this place yet? Hmmmm

[Mirkgirl]

*Mirky approaches the bar under the mild moonlight.. the rubble under her boots made the only sound of the night, except for the ocasional wolf's howl*
*At the door suddenly her trained ear hears a sound almost undistinguishing sound, Mirky looks around, but notices something which evidently calms her and enters the bar*
*The insufficient light and the hat made it impossible for anyone to see her face but the two eyes glowing like hell's fire... she walked to the bar got a pint and went to the corner, where she was almost invisible in the thick smoke*

[Orofacion of the Vanyar]

The large wooden door opened with a heavy squeek of the hinges. A figure in a light gray cloak and hood walks in and the room fell silent. Beneath the cloak there was a soft shimmer of white that seemed to almost glow beneath the well worn outter clothing. Strands of golden hair fell down out of the hood which concealed the travellers face.

He walked over to the book case to take a look at the selections. After browsing for awhile, the stranger made his way over to the ladies and gentleman, and one god, sitting at a table off to the side. As he approached the group, namely Sauron's Secret Agent, he pulled back his hood to reveal his fair rament.

"Hullo my friend, good to see you here," the elf said with a warm smile. "May I join you fine ladies and gentleman?"

[Dark Queen]

With an stifled gasp, DQ leaps up to attend to bonos-girl, Illuvatar, Mirkgirl and Orofacion of the Vanyar.

You are all very welcome here. :wave: I hope that we shall all have a very pleasant and cheerful time talking about many things, but not exams...

DQ looks around the inn, and is pleased to see that people seem to be enjoying themselves.

Having attended to all customers, she pours herself a drink and rejoins SSA at a large table, inviting others to join her as she goes.

[Nessa]

*Nessa enters and looks around shyly*

"Mind if I join in the conversation? And more importantly, the Ale?"

[Gandalf the Grey]

* Walking in the bustling street past the Inn, Gandalf happens to glance in through the window and see two familiar faces ... Orofacion of the Vanyar and Sauron's Secret Agent. Leaning on his staff, the old wizard smiles and waves a greeting. Perhaps his friend Bethberry too will soon appear, to make an even merrier meeting. At the moment, having business to attend to, Gandalf makes his way up the street, turns a corner, and is gone for now. *

[Bethberry]

A large, brown and grey merlin falcon, known by the name of Wyrd, swoops into the open window of Brandy Hall. He deposits a scroll from his beak on the book shelf, picks at the ribbon holding it until the ribbon unwinds, and then flies out quickly.

The scroll reads:

Dark Queen,

Brandy Hall is a most attractive establishment. Having often spied its denizens sneaking into the Old Forest, I suspect I will enjoy their company here!

Mae Gouvernnan, Sauron's Secret Agent and Orofacion of the Vanyar. There is so much foraging to do today in the Old Forest that I cannot stop by now. I will look for you and my friend Gandalf the Grey, however, later this evening.

I wonder if dinner of fresh bread and butter, cold carrot soup, and a salad of 'shrooms and greens would be on the menu, with a nice, crisp cider perhaps?

[Orofacion of the Vanyar]

Orofacion waves at his passing friend just as a familiar hawk flies in with a scroll. The elf left his chair at the table and walked over to read the message.

Smiling, he nodded to himself in acknowledgement. While at the book case, he noticed a dusty, weathered book wedged between two other grander volumes of some lore yet to be read by he. Looking at the rough leather cover, "The Hobbit," Orofacion read outloud, "Now what could this be about?" (:p) Putting the book back on the case and walking back to the table, he sat down and made himself comfortable.

Looking around for the hostess, "Excuse me, but could I possibly have a pint of the dark stuff?" Orofacion said as he noticed The Dark-Queen coming over.

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

Loravarnion strode in, wafting the pleasant heat and smell of blossoms with him. Before the denizens of Brandy hall stood a tall figure with shoulder length brown hair, and ruddy good looks, not something often associated with elves, though his light, effortlessly graceful stride and the timeless glint in his eye gave his origins away. Though they did not know it, Loravarnion, Darkstone to his people was already familiar with several of the occupants of the inn. Sauron's Secret Agent and Orofacion of the Vanyar, knew the elf by the name of Gollum the Great. Drak Queen, however was already familiar with Darkstones' new name and handsome visage.
casually approaching the large table, Loravarnion curteously bowed his head to his old friends.
"Greetings my friends" then looking towards the denizens he has not met before, "and you. Do you think you might find room at the table for a travel-weary elf?"

[Dark Queen]

"Welcome Nessa. Take a seat while I get your ale."

"Welcome Gandalf the Grey. May I get you anything?"

"Welcome Bethberry. That would most certainly be on the menu. We serve anything that you could possibly desire. And many thanks for your kind words regarding my inn."

"Why, of course Orofacion. I will fetch it at once."

"Welcome Loravarnion. I am indeed already familiar with your name. May I get you anything?"

DQ rushed off to the bar and kitchens to fetch the refreshments requested by the customers of her inn.
She returned and took up her place at the large table after delivering all the goods to the relevant people.

Edited to add more "wave"s. One is not adequate to welcome so many people.

[Sauron's Secret Agent]

SSA looks up from her doze, and realises that old friends are present in the neighbourhood.

Delightedly she greets Orofacion, Gandalf the Grey and Bethberry!

"Well met indeed, my friends! When I set out on my journey I did not dare to hope that I would meet with you all again so soon. This is truly a time of merry meetings. My heart sings with pleasure to see some of my favourite people here - and in an inn run by our own Dark Queen!

Barkeep: drinks for my dear 'old' friends please, and for all your customers, who will shortly be friends too I am sure.

What news from Middle-earth? I have been busy (and then dozing in a corner) and am quite out of touch with the doings of the world."

Happily, SSA takes a hearty swig of her ale, and lights her pipe as she looks around at the assembled company.

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

I apologise, I did not realise that Bethberry and Gandalf the Grey were in the inn, it truly is a surprise to see you all here.
Now onto the pressing issue of why you didn't say hello to me SSA, did I do something to anger you?
*Darkstone orders a milk based coffee with two sugars from Dark Queen. When she returns with his order, he draws her face very close to his*
Good landlady, do you think it would be at all possible if I were to assist you at this finbe establishment, I notice you are at need of some helpers and I seem to have misplaced my Night Wisps.

[Dark Queen]

"Why, of course SSA."
DQ rushes off and serves everyone with their desired beverage.

"Here is your coffee, LD. And, of course you may assist me. Any help will be very gratefully received."

With a moment to herself with all her current duties done, DQ gets herself a large hot chocolate with whipped cream and sits down at a quiet table.

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

downing his (delicious) coffee in a few deep gulps, Darkstone walks behind the counter to acquaint himself with the facilities. Once he feels confident that he can find his way around, he rejoins his friends at the table.

[Dark Queen]

DQ rises from the peaceful table and approaches the groups of people talking to see if any would like to talk with her for a while.

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

Darkstone is always upfor a good chat, so joins DQ's pacing.

"Can I get you anything while we talk?" says DQ as she goes behind the bar to get a drink.

[Dark Queen]

DQ assumes that as there is no objection, she can and refills Darkstone's drink.

Edit - DQ heads over to a table and sits down with her drink after handing Darkstone his.

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

why thank you Dark Queen. So what have we not coverred in our msn conversation that you think we could talk about here?

[Dark Queen]

DQ sat quiet for a moment and then spoke.
"We can talk about the the various scrolls to be located on my bookshalves."

Edit: "Many apologies, :( bookshelves."

[Dark Queen]

DQ finshes her drink and walks around the inn collecting the abandoned empty mugs and glasses then retreats into the kitchens to wash them.

A while later she reappears and walks over to a rather full table of people talking and sits down.

"Mind if I join you all?" DQ asks once she has sat down.

After listening to some of the discussion, she gets up to get refreshments for everyone.

"What can I get you all?" she asks as she walks over towards the kitchens and bar.

[Illuvatar]

After watching the merriment taking place in the Inn, Illuvatar emerges from the far end of the bar (where he has been in deep thought about celestial matters and what-not), and strolls over to Dark Queen and politly requests another pot of tea, and some pastries if available.

"You see mi Lady Arien will be arriveing shortly and we are scheduled to meet and have our afternoon tea here at your Inn, and I would like to be prepared for her arrival."

"In the mean time, I was wondering if you by chance had any pipe weed in stock? I've been on the road for a many of day, and have sorely missed a good smoke".

[Dark Queen]

DQ rushes off to the kitchens and returns to Illuvatar with a tray containing a large pot of tea and a heaped plate of pastries to make up for her slowness in getting his order. :(

"Many apologies, Illuvatar. I hope you find these to your satisfaction. Why of course we have pipe weed. I shall fetch you some immediately."

DQ returns a few moments later with a supply of fine pipe weed and presents it to Illuvatar.

"Would anyone else care for anything?" she enquires politiely of the assembled people.

[Kwijibo]

Just as Dark Queen utters those words, icy wind blasts the inn for a moment as another figure enters. Kwijibo's grey eyes dart around the room, mapping the inn in her mind, she hangs up her black hood and sits down alone in a dark, dark corner by the window. She asks Dark Queen for a strong black coffee and a candle. DQ departs again leaving Kwijibo staring at the cellar door, and wondering if it holds the key to bringing back her beautiful friend and loyal companion, Dodger, her dog who recently passed away.

Finding impossible to wait any longer, Kwijibo runs to cellar door and springs down the steps to find ... nothing.

Dejected, Kwijibo returns to the bar and sits in her seat. She stares out of the window, ever searching for a ray of hope, with tears streaming down her face ...

[Loravarnion Darkstone]

Darkstone notices Kwijibo huddled in a corner crying and, after serving everyone walks over to her table to see if he can help.
"may I help you?"
Her steely grey eyes rise up and examine him quickly, she tells him that she has already orderred.
"What I meant was may I help you with your problem, it would seem you have recently lost someone close to you, yes? well just talk about it rather than sitting, dejected from the world because if it continues you're going to create a little box around yourself, separated from the rest of the world. Believe me, I've buried too many of myloved ones over the years to not know what I'm talking about, so how about you come and join our table and we'll help you get over it.

[Dark Queen]

DQ returns from the kitchens after washing all the dirty dishes and walks over the the crying Kwijibo.

"Is there anything at all that I can get you?" she enquires.

"And thank you for serving the customers while I was busy Darkstone."

[Sauron's Secret Agent]

Darkstone - please forgive me! (I really should read threads properly before I post) I am thrilled to see you here, and look forward to furthering our friendship. May I offer you refreshment of your choice?

And all my other friends from the city, how are you? Please forgive my absence from the inn, but I had pressing business elsewhere. My lack of reply in no way implies lack of delight in meeting with you!

Perhaps we could arrange a mutually convenient time to meet here? That would be a pleasure.

Kwijibo, please do not sob, surely your dog will return? In the meantime, please accept a drink, and come and chat with us!

Would it be at all possible if I were to join in this meeting that you are thinking of arranging? It would be nice to talk some more with fellow travellers from afar.

*DQ goes to the kitchens and returns with 2 mugs. One contains Darkstone's coffee, the other her tea.*

Would you like to sit and chat for a while? The inn seems to be very quiet at the moment and could do with some brightening up.

*DQ looks around the inn, and decides it could do with a quick tidy up. She does this, then goes to get herself a large mug of tea. She then sits at a quiet table, wondering if there is anyone around to talk to her.*

DQ leaves her inn for a while and wanders around, taking in the sights and sounds.

On her travels she see many familiar faces. Tinwë, MIthrandir and Isengrin Took IV are the latest of these faces that she sees.

She wonders if they recognise her, for she did know them in another place. Either way, when she to her inn she makes sure that there are enough places for her friends, and hopes that they will one day be filled.

Hello DQ! Could I have a late breakfast or an early lunch please? Sausages and scrambled eggs would be nice. Maybe toast as well. And an excellent plate full of sausage and bacon for my unpredictable hound.

Oh, everyone! May I introduce my 'constant companion' Wolfie? He is an Irish wolfhound (mainly) and generally friendly if treated with kindness. He has a particular fondness for mint tea, to which he was introduced by the keeper of another, now sadly closed, inn.

The lady Galadriel stepped quietly into the inn. She was pleasantly surprised to see many familiar faces and others that she hadn't seen before. Seeing the Dark Queen and SSA, she ran to both and embraced her friends.

It seems you, Dark Queen, are doing well here. An inn and everything! Goodness! Well, if you don't mind, I am in the right mind for a Shirley Temple. She then walked over to a table to sit down and rest her tired feet.

He motions to SSA and says..

Please forgive my rudeness, my mind has been bent on heavy thoughts, celestial matters and what-not ya know? By all means sit down and share some of this pipe-weed with me. Tis the finest I have come across in awhile. Me thinks our good hostess must have at connection down in South Farthing!

Please excuse me for a moment, I have an urgent message for Kwijibo.

*Illuvatar rushes over to find Kwijibo still in tears*

Excuse me lass, but I have a message for you from a certain little face of a pooch that goes by the name of Dodger! I ran into him recently and he gave me this message:

"If you by chance see a good friend of mine that goes by the name of Kwijibo, please tell her to dry her tears. Tell her for me that I am happy now and am no longer in any pain. See, I suffered for a bit before I left the earth, but now I am in a place where there is NO pain and the light from The Two Trees burns brightly here and drowns out all the shadows of the heart.

But most of all, tell her that I am with her always!! Whenever she feels a warm and fuzzy feeling for no reason or an uncontrolable urge to play, there I am!! and as long as she keeps me in her heart, I will always be home."

*Illuvatar then offers her his hankerchief to dry her eyes, and ivites her over to the table to enjoy a little bit of laughter with his new friend SSA*

Mithrandir walks into this fine establishment. He is suddenly confronted with many familiar faces, not to mention people that faces represent...

Mith walks up to the bar and orders an ale. He notices that many of his friends are currently speaking with other people, so he decides that he will allow them to approach him.

*As everyone is talking, and drinking their drinks, all of a sudden, the door bursts open, and a dark shadowy figure stands in it*
*She takes off her traveling clock, to reveal a beautiful, fair, elven lady*
*As she makes her way into the inn, she suddenly reconizes many familiar faces, such as: Sauron's Secret Agent, Mith, Orofaction, Dark Queen, Darkstone, and the Lady Galadriel. *
*She walks over to their table*

"Hello dear friends! Who would have thought when I set out on my journey, that I would cross paths with you again? Well, I am very glad that I did! Care if I join you?"

*And with that, she sat down at their table, and ordered a peppermint tea from DQ*

Upon hearing his name called by many a familiar voice, Mithrandir turns around, and is being welcomed my many a familiar face. Mithrandir then gets up from his seat at the bar, and joins his friends at a very merry table.

*again the door opens to reveal a new traveller. she steps in quietly to reveal a tall maiden, in a deep green cloak with gold threading, and long, shiny brown hair. she is indeed an elf maiden, and fair at that.*
*Firith walks over to a table near the other travelers, and looks around. then smiles at the people looking at her. she politely asks the barkeep for a drink of water*

Kwijibo apologizes for ignoring Loravarnion Darkstone and Dark Queen for the past few pages and asks DQ for an expresso is she has any? She considers LD's offer and says,
'Thanks for your kind offer, the thought that someone cares has made me feel much better. Maybe I will join you in time, but right now I just want to bury my nose in a book,'
She thanks him again and wanders over to the bookshelf. She pulls down a four books and turns to face the people in the Inn again. DQ, coming back with Kwijibo's expresso grabs a club from behind the bar. Several men at the back of the room pull the legs of their chairs and advance threateningly.
'I'm just kidding!' Kwij assures them, and puts Harry Potter back on the shelf. She eventually returns to her seat with a book of scripts from every Monty Python production ever. Her tears of sorrow are eventually replaced with tears of joy and the whole bar, relieved at seeing another happy soul in their Inn, get back to whatever they where doing before.

Kwijibo: Ah, a Monty Python fan! And I see from your signature that you like Hitch-hiker too!

[Dark Queen]

*enters the inn from the streets and looks around at all the empty chairs*

*wonders why her once popular inn is failing and deserted*

*gets a drink, sits at an abandoned table and sighs*

[Kwijibo]

Kwijibo looks up from her book and sees that she and DQ are now the only ones in the bar.
'Don't worry,' Kwijibo says, 'They'll be back. They'll wonder why they haven't enjoyed themselves to the fullest for ... 7 days ... and will soon return,'

*DQ looks across at Kwijibo*

I'm sure you're right. But it seems so quite...

Slim white hands, adorned with rings and bracelets of aged silver, some set with amethysts, reach up to toss back the hood of her cloak. A tumble of blue-black braids spills out, framing a pale, high-cheekboned face. A pair of grey-blue eyes, radiating, at once, hard-gained wisdom of experience and the intense curiosity of a child inspecting the delights of a new playground, casts a gaze about the room, obviously looking for someone.......

Addressing the small group at the table, she says, "Good afternoon. My name is Lady Arien. Have any of you by chance seen a gentleman called Illuvatar here? I left word some time ago that I would meet him here, but I fear my journey has been overlong, and I'm afraid his patience may have worn thin in the meantime, and he has possibly retired elsewhere. Would you mind if I joined your company here and take some refreshment while I sort my immediate plans? And, if it's not too much of an imposition, might I trouble the proprietor of this establishment for a goblet of iced tea? I fear half the dust I've encountered thus far has abandoned the road and taken up residence not only my person, but in my throat as well!"

She scans the room with sharp green eyes, standing easily, hands hooked into belt....spying the group she moves towards them, dropping a deep bow to DQ...
"do i address the innkeep?" at DQ's assent she nods gravely and begins to speak in a clear, cool voice....
"i am called Catz, and i am a peace keeper for this our fair town of Bree....i am sorry that i have not been here before but i have many establishments to visit and limited time....but then i was told of a regrettable incident here and i came to investigate. Perhaps you do not know this, but in our town it is the custom to put up weapons upon entry to a hostelry....to prevent any injuries to the townsfolk" her eyes take in the weapons on display and she frowns....
"lady inkeep, i trust you will enforce this custom among your patrons?....as to the "incident" as a peace keeper i have many powers, not least of which is the power to change history, which i have done....i trust i will not have to do so again.....fare you well" she bows low to them all, and strides from the room into the dark outside....

A short hooded person, race as of yet undistinguishable from hobbit or dwarf, walks in, sees matthew sitting in a chair guzzling ale, walks toward him, and throws him out of his seat, and curses him, "How could you leave without me? You knew I was coming, but you were impatient and had to leave!" after saying that, he sits where matthew once was, and finishes his drink.

*an arrow whizzes past Lurtz nose and thunks into the wood beside his hand.....around the shaft there appears to be a parchement which he cautiously unrolls....it reads thusly

he looks up sharply and just catches a glimmer of luninescent green eyes thru the small windows and hears a faint chuckle....

Lurtz then gets up, and walks outside to where he saw the green eyes, finds catz, and asks her to step inside with him. he asks her what the note she sent him was all about.

Illuvatar awakens!

Having rested for a lonnnng while in one of the comfy armchairs in the corner, rubs his now rested eyes, stretches a bit, and then strolls back into the table area.

Catching the Inn Keeper as she passes...

"I apologize for the loud snoring that must have been disturbing a few of you patrons. I was very tired, and do appreciate your hospitality in allowing me to rest my weary bones.

I really would love a glass of tea whilst your up by the way."

Then looking around and finding the place bustling with folks. He saunders through the crowd and recognizing a familiar and quite longed for face, he rushes up to the table where his beloved Lady Arien.

Embracing her softy, he aplogizes for his long absence.

"Mi lady, I know I summoned you to meet me here awhile back, but my arrival was delayed due to an unruly host that was attempting a charge from the South! I was forced to smite them, and relocate my temple here in ME out to the West. There are still some of my forces doing battle with them, but all is basically well.

After finding this most excellent establishment, I put word out that I was here, and to summon you as you as you were able. I waited long, but after much good food and drink, plus being battle weary, I could not help but find a comfortable place to rest a bit. I hope I have not keep you waiting long"

The door opens agein and in walks a tall and fair elf he says Mathew6 and Lurtz we meet agein I have not forgotten you. I will be watching you. Tary sits down at a empty table.

The door opens quitely, slowly.
Heads turn, but it appears to have been the wind.

Then, gracefully, sylvanly, in glides a beautiful Queen of long-forgotton realms...
The deep shawdows on her face bely the calm image of peace and rest in her bearing.

"My travels have been long,
"And my battles most weary.

Only now, in the North of this once distant realm, do I espy a pocket of peace."

The lady takes a place on the bar, requesting of the innkeeper a soothing drink from the calming waters of Batheris.

Then, only then, does she espy great enemies of hers...

"But for nothing would I willingly disturb the peace of your inn, Dark Queen.
"Come, friends, share a drink of fellowship with me in this quiet place.

mathew6 and lurtz both say at once, "methinks this will be but a short truce," and they then sit at table with tary and tar ancalime, drinking, but still very wary, because of the terms between their races.

A weary hobbit lass wearing a dark cloak, with a hood hiding her face rides on her husband's pony, Stybba, seeking a comfortable place to reafresh herself.
An inviting stream of light and the low murmur of laughter greet her half way down the street. She clicks her tongue and Stybba trots along the muddy street of Buckland as the wind starts to howl and rain begins to tease her nose.
The light grows stronger and she reaches a friendly-looking place with shadows of it's guests cast upon the drawn curtains. She dismounts Stybba and leads him into the public stables before entering.
Once she opens the round door, she is greeted by several pairs of opne arms and "welcome, welcome". She smiles at the hospitaily she recieves but keeps her face hidden.
Suddenly, the tempting smell of ale reaches her nose and she casts down her hood... it's the Mistress of Buckland!

It's been a golden fall day, but as shadows lengthen in the wood, the air is clear and cold. Bess the Bard decides it's time to find a place to spend the evening. She smells the woodsmoke of the hearth fire before she sees the welcoming light of the Inn. She opens the heavy iron-bound wood door and looks around.

Not too many people here tonight. But something's cooking and it smells good after a long day's travel. Bess takes off her cloak and wide brimmed straw hat, lays them on a bench. Sets her walking staff against the wall. Orders up stew, soft fresh bread and cool cider. Checks out her fellow travellers.

Moraneah, peeps into the door................'Interesting looking place', she sighs. Upon entering, she notices a varied sort of folk, wee ones and humans, as well as, elves and faeries such as she. 'Oh, less formal than the Pony, this I do like'.

She approaches the wee ones, reckonizing Merry and Pippon, But, not the other two with them. However, she summizes it may be the ones with the ring. She stops, and will not come closer, as she feels the evil of the ring's power. As she watches, a gentleman, calling himself Strider, approaches the wee ones, and hustles them away.
