Well, personally my favorite is Sam. I'm a bit obsessive...but he's just the most darling little hobbit. [huggles him] He's everybody's best friend...well, as long as they pose no threat to Frodo. [grins] But I lurve him anyways.

Well, first of all, Welcome to War of the Ring fivefootrat! I'm sure you'll enjoy the site!
as for your poll: i can't decide! i love 'em both! i could go on all day about both of them! :loveyou: "Well, i like Sam..." "Well, i like Frodo.. No, Sam! Frodo!.. Sam!" haha i think we get the picture ;) So i just settle with: "My favorite character ((notice singular)) is FrodoAndSam!" lol You should join the Pervy Hobbit Fancier Club a.k.a. the Hobbit Worship Thread ~ we've got some Niiice pics

thanks for the welcome Hobbit Friend!

That's almost how I am. But Sam is just a bit cooler to me then Frodo. And then right after Frodo would have to be Smeagol. .....[cries] I love him to death! "Why do you cry Smeagol?" "Masster betrayed usss.." [falls over sobbing]

I think I will head over to that nifty little thread you've got going...yum.

we've got a Sam one too... it's kinda dead right now... but maybe you can liven it up ;)

They're both so adorable! ok that made them sound like some fluffy pups, but I love them both, there probably wouldn't be a Frodo without a Sam and a Sam without a Frodo, like Merry and Pippin. ;) :p

I think wifout Sam's support and strength, Frodo would have died and the ring wud av endured :)

HobbitFriend
February 8th,2003, 07:02 PM
yah... i think they definately needed each other. Like Frodo said in the movie TTT: "You left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam. Frodo wouldn’t have gotten far without his Sam."

Galadriel

I like Sam better. He is such a great friend too frodo and is always there in his time of need.

I can't decide.....the book frodo is my favorite....but in the movie seeing Sam brought to life is quite heart warming....so i voted that way.

HobbitFriend
February 9th,2003, 02:29 AM
^Lissuin^ that's exactly me! lol book fav: Frodo... movie fav: Sam (so i ended up putting 'undecided')

But Sam is awesome too! :)

February 9th,2003, 11:21 PM
Hobbitfriend- i agree with you. Sam just seems to have more too him in the movies than Frodo. Also I think Frodo of the movie has strayed from the book slightly....it's not bad I still think he is great but...yah just something different

Mirkgirl
February 10th,2003, 06:01 PM
ugh deff Frodo... Sam looks too much of the village type for me (good for the role tho)

February 10th,2003, 06:52 PM
Sam is just cool...he's my fave....I love all the Goof Guy characters, but Sam is the greatest. He's so loyal and sweet and kind and down-to-earth. I even named a little teddy bear I got over the weekend Samwise Beargee. LOL

Sam is the coolest!!

My nickname is Sam. Has been for like ever. Though thats not why I like him best.

Frodo is a bit wacked. And besides, not all that attractive. Sam isn't really cute either, but he's just the best anyway.

oooooh I'd like to see what A! E has to say to that one lol... shes a great frodo fan

Hmmmmmmm..... *counts*

Hmmm.....

Yes, I have a very large argument for that one. But perhaps this isn't the palce to do it. lol

I suppose it all depends on what you like in a person. Instead of looking at Frodo's weak sides I go for his strong sides. He is extremely reasonable, is a beautiful friend and companion to his gardener - which, in any other case, would not be due to the strict relationship any other master-servant relationship. He has great bravery and a strong will. Besides, I do find him nice looking (movie or no, because I imagine him looking different in the books but still attractive): Did not the books say he was fair looking, like an elf? Hmmmm ;) He loves adventure (maybe not after the war of the ring though) and he can write. (Something I love to do if you haven't guessed haha).

He risked his life to save Middle Earth, what else could you ask for? And Frodo was only 'wacked', as you might want to put it, within the three years, and only periodically when anniversary illnesses took place or strong memories. He is not crazy - no, anything but....ah...

Ok, I'm finished.

I cannot be swayed lol :loveyou:

February 11th,2003, 03:56 PM
yay, go El!!

nah, youre entitled to your opinion, fivefootrat, its just i happen to like frodo better than sam as well... though i do adore sam... one of my absolute favorite pics from the extended fotr is of sam :loveyou:

A! Elbereth
February 12th,2003, 12:21 AM
I like defending my Frodo ;)

It's true - Sam has some nice fotr extended parts. My favorite is the blip during Bilbo's voice-over at the beginning, when he looks so longingly at the flower! aww!

Frodo has nice ones too. I couldn't pick my favorite though... ;) I like 'em all lol

HobbitFriend
February 12th,2003, 02:48 AM
lol wow, that speech of yours El, gave me a whole new look on (mostly movie) Frodo! lol (in a good way ;) ) I still go with undecided - Frodo and Sam are still #1 on my list entdraught

A! Elbereth
February 12th,2003, 03:35 AM
lol I quite enjoyed writing it ;)

Well, of course, that little blerb of words about Frodo is not a persuasion piece, and I agree that it is hard to choose between two nice characters, esp. Sam and Frodo.. (well, maybe not for me heh) lol

But as long as this thread doesn't turn into a competition like the Elves vs. Hobbits thread - oh dear. Let us not get too carried away boasting about who's winning or not, when the tie is broken, eh? ;)

Sam rules coz the kindness and positive attitude just shines out of him. And he's cute coz he's so stinking naive.;)

I actually don't think he is naive. I believe someone naive would not be able to do what he did. Sam was very wise at heart to make the choices he did.

HobbitFriend
February 13th,2003, 02:25 AM
lol well at least they're all tied: Frodo: 5, Sam: 5, undecided: 5 , so that must mean that they're both equally good ;) haha Well, they're both hobbits, so what isn't there to like about them :loveyou: lol

aw, that was a very nice Sam comment Elbereth!! You're actually siding with someone other than Frodo! :elfeek: what is this world coming to!! lol (okay, going back to bed :snooze: - if wondering why i'm acting insane today [okay, or every day ;) ] ya' might wanna take a look at my long post on the "time travel" thread....) lol

The only reason why I didn't vote for Sam is that (and I've said this in another thread) he's so sweet and so dad-ly. Though I do love Sam and think he's terribly cute, you really don't get that "I-wanna-climb-all-over-you" feeling over someone who's "dadly."

lol lol (funny above posts)

i like both hobbits! both for their courage, one for his real life looks (Frodo) :p, Sam for his loyalty and friendship throughout the difficult course that Frodo had to go through in order to reach Mordor, Frodo for being so determined, and both for being so darn courageous and displaying the highest levels of friendship..
so i agree with Hobbitfriend's first post...they're both very very cool hobbits that made a difference :)

they're just the epitome of goodness...on the highest hobbit level...
ahh i love hobbits! and if you put Merry and Pippin on this poll as well, i would have to vote for all of them!
:-D

So i can't decide between Frodo or Sam...both are too cool ;)

check out www.frodoandsam.net cool site ;)

Go Hobbits! :)

Go Andruil! lol
I also love both hobbits, it's just that my heart goes out mostly to Frodo :).
The friendship of Sam and Frodo includes so much power and love, and also strength.
And I just can agree with "the highest levels of friendship" in this case... :)

I don't like Sam for the "I-wanna-climb-all-over-you" feeling (that's one of the reaons I like Boromir! ;) :naughty: )
I like him because he's brave and loyal. He's not the smartest of hobbits, he's just a normal lad who got involved in the quest, and turned out to be the real hero. And he's the nicest guy! Wouldn't you just love to have him as your best friend?

Though I wouldn't want to "climb all over" sweet and wonderful Sam, wouldn't any woman be lucky to have him in her life in any capacity—friend, husband, brother, etc.? Sam will never let you down, he's got too much integrity.

Let's all give Sam a big hug and a kiss, shall we? :smooch:

HobbitFriend
March 27th,2003, 01:00 AM
lol that's okay, trust me it's not your brain! haha it's like an "inside joke" see.... my whole school day is like going to a movie or rather... actually being in one! (a comedy movie might i add...) so... yesterday during French class, one of my classmates randomly gets onto the subject of the word "indeed." she said that not many people use the word anymore and that it's a "cool word." (yah, she's kinda 'weird' ... very funny - her nickname is "Smurph" and her french name is "Beatrice" but you pronounce it "Bay-ah-tree-chay" it's so funny) So she's always like "You are my friend... indeed." "That's sweet... indeed" i have a strange class ;) (dont even get me started on Shavo! lol ) So, when you said "indeed" i was having flashbacks haha (we didnt' even learn the french word for it! yah...)

Galadriel
March 27th,2003, 01:10 AM
lol no don't get started on Shavo lol thats just a scary thought. And yes our school is like a comedy show. Talk about my english class. I think Mr. Munchkin cause enough comotion and Mr. Disorganzied is defiently the class clown lol

INDEED. ;) lol
Is "indeed" not used anymore that often? (I'm German, and I still get the feeling I have so much to learn using the right words. So don't mind if my English sounds "weird" sometimes)

BTW: my old school seemed to be a freak-show, I got the feeling. (And I was no exception.)roflmao

lol haha yah, i know doesn't sound too "Frenchie"... but hey, it's Murph! she's always funny like that. The French way to pronounce it would be "Bay-ah-treece" (trill the "R") ;) and Frodo's Love, your english is perfect! I'd never guess that it wasn't your first language  and as I quoted you before: "'Bay-ah-tree-chay' - a funny name. HobbitFriend
April 4th,2003, 11:54 PM
ah, right you are, Galadriel! But what is a town without its people? lol
Sam... Frodo... still can't choose between them! I think they would have both fit in nicely in our town.

First day at the High School:
Morning: Frodo and Sam walk in... some people look over to them while others are still engrossed in their pointless gossip.
Lunch: by now, word has gotten around that there are two really hot new guys in school with curly hair. They're not sure about the shoelessness and large, hairy feet however... The principal tells them that there's a "shoe policy". Sam points to the sign on the door: "No cleats in the building. Someone told me that that's another name for a shoe... say, here, mister, what you trying to pull?" They get sent home for talking back and "violating the dress code."
The Next Day: Everyone comes to school shoeless and every "clique" and club in school is trying to get the two hobbits to become their friend...
The Alliance Booth: We are acceptant of EVERYONE.... ;) hehe

Galadriel
April 5th,2003, 12:20 AM
