Will Minas Morgul be in RotK?
I was watching TTT again and noticed that the map Faramir is looking at in Henneth Annun doesn't show Minas Morgul.
Just an empty space.
I'm just thinking, is it in?

I don't know about ROTK but i think there was a little glimpse of the wraiths' bachelor pad in FOTR. Near the beginning of the film after we've heard Gollum shriek and had a shot of Barad -dur there is s shot of the nazgul thundering from a gate across a bridge. This wasn't the bridge at the dark tower so it must have been Minas Morgul.
As for ROTK your are right about the map that Faramir had - so i dunno - but i hope so ;)

Yeah Rumil that was Minas Morgul in FOTR cause they mention it on one of the commentaries. i reckon that as Frodo, Sam and Gollum approach Shelob's Lair, they'll look down into Minas Morgol and see the witch king's army leaving.

And, though I know it's no consolation, movie Saruman said "The Nine have left Minas Morgul..." or something like that. I will be VERY interested in how they show the Morgul Vale. It's such a strange, unearthly looking place....creepy...

I sure hope Minas Morgul is featured more prominently in ROTK. The glimpse of it in FOTR was so cool, we just have to see it once again in the third movie.

I think Minas Morgul will get a decent look-in in RotK. Certainly on one of the FotR commentery tracks (the production crew one I think), they said you'd see more of it in the third film.
Fingers crossed! Certainly the brief glimpse we got in film one was most excellent - high vaunted interior, and a bit spiky (like Orthanc, but not as extreme :-).

Yeah we only caught a glimpse of the gates in FOTR. In return of the king I expect it'll be huge, like Minis Tirith will be.

I'm guessing they'll sneak passed Minas Morgul, for we do see it in TFotR.
The Nine, have left Minas Morgul, they will find the ring, and kill the one who carries it-Saruman of many Colours
I think they'll go by it, see the emptying of Mordor before them. Then follow Gollum to the Stairs. Basically, what everyone else has said...

Hopefully Frodo will have flashbacks of him being stabbed when he sees the Witch-king again.

Thanks for the information, just that I was a bit worried since the foremost stronghold of the Enemy was not in Faramir's map, he could miss something there ;).

I just reread the passage in TTT where Frodo, Sam & Gollum sneak past Minas Morgul. It was way more crazy than I remember it! The text describes "blue, livid lightnings" coming down from the sky and striking the castle as the Witch-King receives his orders to march from Sauron. That is such a striking image in my mind. I wonder how far they will take that in the movie? Honestly, I think it would be way over the top, but it's Tolkien's original text that describes it as such. I really hope they have a camera shot from the Witch-King's point of view looking around the valley while he senses Frodo and the ring.

Hopefully there'll be more room for Minas Morgul, if they spend a little less time on kissy-face with Arwen cleverly disguised as a horse. It was a great make-up job, but still... Man, you just want to shove a carrot in between those big quivering lips! lol
Unfoturnately, I can see Mr. Jackson sacrificing things like the details of Minas Morgul to expound on the romantic story-line. Sigh.
Totally MHO

I think he means that Arwen was disguised as a horse.
Cuite a clever disguise.

*laugh* my friend suggested that too.l We call her Horse-lipped Arwen. But this isn't an Arwen-bashing thread, unfortunately.

Yeah, remember - Arwen was kissing Aragorn to wake him up, and Aragorn called her "Brego". lol
Actually the way they filmed it (or edited it), made it seem like Aragorn was dreaming of kissing Arwen, and in the conscious world it was actually Brego nuzzling his face to wake him up. People have laughed at that several times that I've seen it, it must not be just me. I swear!
But Minas Morgul would be so cool! As Rumil says, the swinging bachelor pad of the Wraiths. lol I hope they show the "summons" and then the army coming out, but someone said something about Frodo & Co. leaving Osgiliath through some sewers so they may just bypass that all together, which would be a shame. :(

Aren't they already out of Osgiliath at the end of TTT?
SindarinGirl
February 25th,2003, 04:33 PM
You know, you'd think after seeing it 5 times that I'd remember that yes, they're in the woods at the end of TTT. DOH!
I read somewhere here about Faramir sending them through the sewers of Osgiliath - after 3975 years, I'm forgetful not insane - maybe it's a bit that will appear in the Ext. DVD?

Yeah apparently the sewer bit might be on the extended edition. I have seen a picture of Frodo and Sam at the entrance to a sewer looking into it. Anyone else seen this pic? :)

In fact, Minas Morgul is very great and very impressive. I must
know that - I live there.
Okay, I think we don't have to worry about MM being in ROTK or
not: in the German forum, where I use to spend much of my
time, someone posted pics of the miniature some weeks ago.
It looked stunning!

I think the shot of the wraiths galloping out of the gate is in mordor at Bara Dur
King_of_Angmar
March 10th,2003, 12:05 PM
No, it is Minas Morgul. The whole atmosphere is different to
Barad Dûr, specially the light: Minas Morgul is green, Barad Dûr
is red.
And Saruman said: "The Nine have left Minas Morgul".
And also, PJ told in the audio commentary on the SEE that is
the gate of Minas Morgul, which we will see more of in ROTK.

Oops, I am answering myself.......:mmmm:
You may know about that book by Gary Russel "The Art of the
Two Towers"), it contains lots of great drawings and sketches.
And on the last page, there is a coloured drawing of Minas
Morgul - a foresight to the book about ROTK. The drawing is
gorgeous and you can see the gate clearly - and it IS the same
gate as the one the Nazgûl are coming out in FOTR.....
