Paths of the dead...
Can anyone explain to me what it is and why Aragorn goes there?

The Oathbreakers are basically ghosts of an army that are trapped until the time that they finally fulfill their promise to fight in battle. They had sworn to fight alongside one of Aragorn's ancestors (wasn't it?), but they never showed up. So they were doomed to hang around until they fulfilled their vow.
So Aragorn goes and claims them, and they follow him and fight with him until he releases them from their oath.
In the book, Legolas has no problem with the Paths or the Oathbreakers, but the whole thing terrifies Gimli. Maybe we'll all have a great laugh as he wets himself, if Mr. Jackson continues to make him look like an idiot. Sorry - that was off-topic, wasn't it? ;)
Totally MHO
