I'm writing a little fanfiction (which can be read here (http://patricia.stormentic.net/writing.html)), and I needed a poem for one part of it. I'm not all that good at poetry, and I don't have a good rhythm in this one, but here goes.

Thidanée was brave and fair
And many songs of him do tell.
His King's will drove him to the lair
Where serpent great does ever dwell.
From sand arose two yellow eyes
And forkéd tongue of stone he saw.
He knew then tales have told no lies;
The serpent's height arouséd awe.
He drew his sword and seized his shield,
The snake sprang up and hissed in rage
It was a fury none could wield.
The beast has never seen a cage
Yet Thidanée fought brave and long.
No man can slay the Desert's child;
His fearless death is now a song,
But yet the Serpent roams the wild.
