Not yet, but I'm sure it will come out before long, the pirate one. I expect that it will show up soon after RotK trailers start running on theaters.

From what I've heard (and posted somewhere but i can't find it) there has been a rumoured list of everything to be in the preview that PJ has cut together, supposedly going onto TTT in March.

When did they show the first short previews of TTT?

Last year the preview came out around the second week of April. However, be aware that their are rumors that there won't be a preview this year for ROtK, but instead there will be more of a push for the movie during the summer. We should find out soon if that rumor is true or not since last year an announcement was made in the last week of February that PJ had put together a special 'thank you." to the fans.

roflmao Yes, would much rather have the movie this summer than a preview!!

But, of course I mean that the movie will be promoted more this summer . . perhaps more trailers . . don't really know . . unfortunately the movie, ROtK, won't be released until December.

I would like a 50 day countdown on LOTR.net until a 3 minute ROTK Internet preview became available to download, which wouldn't be available in cinemas. :naughty:

Im confused, what is all this about no ROTK preview/ trailer attachment to TTT thing. So what does that mean that there wont be any traliers of it until like the sunmmer or latrer.

Hi Morgothian, I'm going to merge this with the other thread you started about it. :)

I think the article did mean that New Line isn't planning on putting a Rotk trailer on the end of the TT film in theaters like they did with the Fellowship last year. Thats a definite shame, especially since I was waiting until March to see it again in hopes of glimpsing Rotk.

THIS IS BULL*HIT....I'M OUTRAGED....I WANT A TRAILER....I PAY UP MY DEBT'S DEARLY TO THIS MOVIE AND US FANS DESERVE SOMETHING FOR OUR MONEY.....STRIKE...STRIKE...STRIKE!!!!!

Kalimac
February 27th,2003, 05:44 AM
Well, I was gently trying to tell people that there might not be a preview . . ;)

TheRingBearer

and a strike would be a little harsh. If it wasn't for these people we would have no amazing films at all so who are we to complain. It's annoying yes, but i suppose it builds anticipation to what will be the best film ever

Harry Knowles at AICN received this letter from Peter Jackson explaining why there will be no preview for Return of the King:
Hi Harry,

None of these stories have any truth.

As far as I'm aware the first ROTK trailer will hit cinemas about May or June.

We're not doing a ROTK trailer for the end of Two Towers like we did last year. The reason is that the TT extended DVD has been so complex this year, it would have taken too many resources away from trying to get that finished.

The FOTR extended cut had 35 extra CG shots - the TT extended cut has over 150. Weta are plowing through those, plus starting ROTK. We have a huge TT extended cut sound mix in a few weeks. It's all very complex and we deemed an early ROTK trailer as simply too much to take on this time around.

I am loving cutting ROTK! Very happy.

Cheers,

Peter J

wow thats a ton more special effects shots than FOTR extended. Most be more Gollum, Treebeard and Helms Deep.

Freaky to say the least...disturbing (as usual) to say the most...

Sauron on the battlefield? Interesting, yet my first reaction was "Are you kidding? Only if he's losing, or winning, would he ever march out." Duh.

And PIPPIN pulling FARAMIR off the pyre? Good grief. A 50 pound hobbit pulling a Man who's at least three times his weight of of a big table? Hellooo...reality check.

Of course, there's the question if it's reliable. If so, I'm both surprised and not. Not, because of PJ's record. Yes, because who ever thought of Pippin doing that or Sauron coming out himself??

But the rest seems ok. Even if Gandalf and Co. go back to Meduseld. Understandable and seems ok.

Morgothian

I dont see how he would get a tralier that early

the Sauron thing is pretty weird. I always had the impression that he couldn't take physical form without the ring. Let's just hope that Sauron dissolves into a vapor when the ring is destroyed, like in the book, and there's nothing cheesy, like Aragorn cutting off his head. The Pippin thing sounds reasonable. After all, he and Merry did drink the Ent drought. Everything else seems fantastic. The Paths of the Dead will be nuts.

Lady Ashley

Ooh, I forgot about Entdraught! Yes, though one might wonder if 3 extra inches could do the job...*shrug* but then again, that's the least of my worries...

Frodo284
March 11th,2003, 07:24 PM
ok well i haven't got to the part with pippin pulling faramir off the pyre in the book..what is that..a pyre? and that would be stupid to have him strong b/c the theatrical version didn't show the ent draught and audeinces who don't see the extended would be like..what? PJ just can't throw more story in based off the extended version considering the whole population might not see it.

TheRingBearer
March 11th,2003, 08:41 PM
A pye is kinda like a big stne table where you burn bodies of the dead to their ashes...or something like that anyway.
And yeah, its kinda definite that the entdraught bits are in the extended  Can't wait.
