Farewell My Elven Friends

Farewell my Elven friends,
Who's tonge, like silver bends.
You have loved so much of us and of Middle-Earth,
Tis now that your time here, sadly, ends.

We walk with you from Elrond's Rivendell
Across the Shire's evergreen glens.
We sigh with heavy hearts and watch
While as you leave the fair slyvan LothLorién.

Soft footfalls leave like a ghost and muse
Just as gently as you once came.
Oh the tears bleed from my eyes,
You shall be remembered in song and fame.

Goodbye my ancient friends
We shall miss you as you set sail.
Much tears do spill and our hearts are heavy
Even if we begged it would be to no avail.

We feel that with our eyes this is the
Last time we shall see you as you go over the sea.
We wish your soft voices and fair faces never leave
But we also know what must be must be.

*Notes*
I wrote this because I while reading Toliken's work I found it very depressing that the Elves, who are so wise and ancient, left Middle-Earth. It was like watching a beautiful thing leave when you were too young to understand it, knowing it will never be back again. It is quite sad, and I felt it should be represented here somewhere. I mean, the Elves are immortal, the loved Middle-Earth more than almost any other creature, and they left... Forever.

Well I don't know what else to say aside from "thank you," as for being a "professional poet" I can tell you I really am not, after all, if poets got paid for being poets we'd really not need to get jobs that we dislike that make us write poetry about them :)

As for learning anything from me I don't think I am all that great and dandy, just speak from the heart (a little rhyme here and there doesn't hurt either).
