well some columbian rebels are holding three americans hostages. so what u think we should do .. im not really sure if the u.s is friends with the columbian government but if we are i say we team up with some of them and send some marines there to kick the ..*bleep* out of them haha

I don't know how the US would do it, but theres been instances in the past where British SAS have been used in Europe to storm in and retrieve the hostages.....one thing I can guess though is that whatever they do won't be advertised on tv first - kinda takes away the element of surprise

When I was in 6th grade there was a girl in our class, Claudia, who's father was a Colonel in the Colombian Army, transferred to DC for some work at the State Department.
It was the first year ever that I consistently finished my schoolwork in class so that I could work with her on her English reading skills. She was my best friend.
They went back to Colombia and the next year, Bogota was practically levelled by bombings. I never heard from her again and I'll never know what happened to her and her family.
I miss her.

The rebels are defining our people as Prisoners of War, to use as leverage in a POW exchange with the gov't. As we don't negotiate with terrorists, which they technically are as they've resorted to kidnapping civilians, we most likely will not see those 3 people again. If a rescue is attempted, we will most likely take care of it ourselves (as usual) with the permission and support of the Colombian military.

That must be awful not knowing what happened. My mum nursed a boy long term, and his mum and my mum became really good friends, they then moved back to Taiwan, and kept in touch, but a few years later there was an earthquake, and my mum hasn't heard from the family since. It could hopefully
be that they just lost our addresss, but we don't know.

You never know if they just got too busy, lost the address, or were killed! Your letters aren't answered but not returned, who can say what happened? I'm sorry for you and your mom going through it. :(

awww.....that must be awful....in those kinda situations i thnk it's better to know than to be left wondering. but as SG says, maybe they just lost your addy cos the letters weren't returned or anyhting.

It's really a difficult situation we have. I think they should send some secret forces to rescue them, but those rebels probably will be at the ready. Why are they doing this?

You know, they SAY they are holding them hostage, but Columbians are famous for their good coffee. I bet they are drink Jo, playing cards, and waiting for Roca Wear to organize a rescue.
