Not only am I new to this community, I'm pretty new to the LOTR trilogy as well. My husband's been a life-long fan but I embraced it only last year after seeing FOTR on DVD.

I saw TTT a couple of weekends ago and became a complete junkie, much to my darling husband's chagrin (I've become obsessed with Legolas and Aragorn). I've skipped reading the first two to read ROTK to find out what happens at the end.

Same thing sort happened in my house, my obsession(passion) got me involved a few years back, and the wife while interested was not so "in to it" at first, and now she's taking the Sil to read during her lunch at work! lol

But I don't think that was the best you could do, it is sooo much more fun reading the whole book. :)
Plus there are loads of references to things cut from the movie, but....
