For FOTR it was when Frodo was sitting under the tree (in Bilbo's study for extended).
For TTT it was when Frodo and Sam were climbing over the mountains
so for ROTK....your thoughts?

Any shot of Aragorn will do. It fits the title.

That's what I was thinking. After the opening (which is discussed in the other thread) it could cut to Aragorn getting ready for war and appear then :)

Or him riding with Theoden and everyone to Isenguard. *grin* That would be very cool.

my vote would be for Elrond, or some Rivendell elves, reforging Narsil into Anduril. I have heard that the movie will open with this scene.

Yeah. The Return of the King title could appear over the reforged blade of Narsil ;)

hmm, i was gonna say a scene w/ aragorn, but the idea of it over the reforging of narsil is just too cool. . . .

How about something completely different and have a scene of the crown of Gondor somewhere, a little more subtle i think.

I think showing the crown at the beginning would be a bit too much. It will come off better if they wait and present it at the very end, after he has earned it! The idea of Elrond pounding the steel of Narsil in a dark, smoky forge is just so exciting to me. I think it would be a great image, and would fit with all the other beginnings of the movies, which also seem to feature fire or smithwork -- Sauron forging the one ring, Gandalf versus the Balrog, etc. Just think of the opening music in the forge and then Elrond raising the finished sword in the air and RETURN OF THE KING comes up on the screen... I can't wait.

you know, I also thought an opening scene with Aragorn would be fitting but now that I think of it and read these other views on the forging of Narsil opening the film I have to say I think that would an even better idea. Just watching the elves of Imladris reforging this heirloom that will be later presented to its rightful owner would be enough to give me goosebumps.

wow semuta that sounds great. You can just imagine a few elves working busily away then a triumphant Elrond holds it aloft

check it out!
"Hugo Weaving, who plays elvish leader Elrond in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, told SCI FI Wire that his character will have a brief but important role to play in the third and final film, The Return of the King. "Elrond's not really a major character on the screen," Weaving said in an interview. "He sort of embodies certain elements of Middle-earth, and he's the character who understands the prehistory. He kind of brings with him the great weight of years. [He is] like 3,500 years old, ... so he's kind of been around."

I really think that that would be a great scene to have the title come up! And by what semuta quoted, it sounds like we're going to see Elrond reforging Narsil afterall!
