:) I am new to the site, but I do have one suggestion. I think that the site is a bit difficult to navigate. I do not know if it is possible to fix that, but I thought that I would throw it out there. I think that If there were links to every place on the site from each thread or something, it would be less confusing.

Well.......while we do have to add a couple of things, we've tried to have all the sections available listed above as part of the title banner. Right above the Options,Register, etc. buttons are the links, and this should be visable from any thread, post, etc. as should the links to the Shop and Chat pages as well.
I hope this is what your looking for, 'cause navigation was one of our primary concerns during development.

i think the navagation is great on this site compared to some of the half made tolkien sites:)

Don't get me wrong, I think that the site is great. I will probably get used to the navigation after awhile. :whoohoo:

i think the navigation on this site is quite good.....i had to search for about 30 mins on my school site to fnd term dates....luckily i'm gonna change that as one of the duties of IT prefect....so people might acually use the school site! hehe

In the photo forum, could you please post clear instructions about how to get photos uploaded?
Fatty
April 13th,2003, 04:36 AM
Kazren, it was because we had not turned your status to a subscriber that there was no link to upload. We do ask for 48 hours, though usually much sooner.
Let us know how you got on.

Fatty

I think maybe the site could use some more interactions, like an interactive tour of Middle Earth or somthing, people love that sort of stuff but just a suggestion

Well, Fatty emailed me and I was able to post in a few minutes, so that was very helpful. But maybe a little notice up there will not make everyone new to the photo forum think the've got a piece missing form the brain. I felt so dumb when I couldn't figure out how to upload. Now that the function is turned on, it's very obvious and easy.
Thank you, Fatty. I love the Silver Subscriber benefits.

A suggestion as a Newbie (been here going on two weeks almost..)
Is there a Spell Check (helper) when you type a post? I've noticed I have made typos and others, as well...and sometimes, you have to keep using the edit button, if your eyes aren't "quick" enough to catch your mistake?
(...and I am glad I am not the only one that had troubles navigating, uploading, finding things, having to write the webmaster constantly for help...etc.! as a Newbie to the Forums -- **phew**)

Hey Rune,
Sorry, but no spell checker here. What I normally have to do for lengthy post is to copy out of the reply box into Word and let it do the spell checking for me, and then once done I just paste it back into the same reply box.
Hope this helps!

Wow! That seems like a lot of work, Illuvatar, but just another way of "working it"...again, it was just a suggestion, since you have the common buttons of color, font, bold, etc., that you would see in WORD and your email.
Wait until you see my new thread on "Newbies"....I can't wait to see the responses on THAT...but I felt it was important and I always try to be clear and respectful.
Also, I have noticed some people using characters for profanity and a surprise word yesterday on a post. I know all can't be caught, but I guess people don't read the rules.
It was great hearing from you again...Namarie, for now...

yep, some people dp try and bend the rules but mods usually catch them. plus there's a "report this post to a moderator" button just under the post so if you notice an offensive post then you can report it quickly and easly!

Hi Fatty.. and Ilu...
I have a suggestion..
Could it not be cool to have the whole The Fellowship of the ring-manuscript and the whole The Two Towers-Manuscript lying here on the website? I know i would like that...
If its to much hard work, dont give up my friends... I personally have the whole script of both movies + the elven languages and the black speech... and translations... i could just mail it to you and.. Voila!
What do y'a think?
Kazren

I think the Tolkien estate would yell "Copyright infridgement" and kick our nice books off the net.
Bonos-Girl
September 2nd,2003, 12:54 AM
yep...thats what i was about to post...why do people always beat me to these things? lol

September 2nd,2003, 01:07 PM
Explain that again Kazren?... copyright?.. (im danish)
Bonos-Girl
September 2nd,2003, 05:52 PM
copyright..erm...basically the people who wrote the script would have the rights to it and they would be annoyed and ask us to take it off the site for legal reasons...its hard to explain...well...i'm useless at explaining things so anything's hard to explain!! lol
Radagast
September 2nd,2003, 05:53 PM
Hmm - but i hvae seen it on so many sites before?... www.legomirk.com for example?
Pil
September 2nd,2003, 08:14 PM
Wow, those illustrated scripts are amazing! I don't know how people could have a problem with something like that being on the net cos it's obviously just been written by someone who can remember all the lines (you know we exist lol). by showing your film in the cinema you can't exactly say, 'yes, listen to my film's script...but make sure you don't write it down now' can you?
Radagast
September 2nd,2003, 10:15 PM
Me? I did'nt write it down.. i can remember the whole script in my head... and when something seems to slip, i see the movie.. "And its all coming back to my now!"
Pil
September 3rd,2003, 08:13 PM
I'm not saying YOU wrote it down....but if i sat there with a copy of fotr and ttt I could just as easily produce such a thing. :p

hmmm - thats to bad...
Bonos-Girl
September 4th,2003, 08:51 AM
yeah....but its still thir script that they wrote....i mean....people have a problem with books being online for kinda the same reason...although i guess not quite since there's no pioint buyinhg the book if its been read onine but most people would still go see the film if they've read the script...

Well...here's the "deal"...
We actually were sent the script for FotR and TTT and as with a lot of our material, rather than just put it up, we checked with New Line and they requested that we do not.
Amongst the many Movie/News/Tolkien sites out there, we actually have a decent relationship with the film makers and we'd kinda like to keep it that way.
Good thought though Rad....thanks!
Radagast
September 4th,2003, 06:49 PM
Oh.. Ok...
I think its great that you guys have a cool relationship with New Line... not many sites have that...
Nice going!

Hey!
This may sound silly but it was just a brainstorm..
Please tell me if its way off or you already have it.. roflmao
But would'nt it be great to have something about New Zealand, and the Locations in MiddleEarth/New Zealand.. so you can discuss.. for example where you could have shot some of the scenes.. if you have Pic's of a place in... oh I dont know.. a place in China that would be Ideal for Rohan?.. there you could discuss all kinds' of Geografi things.. What country do you think looks most like Middle Earth?.. stuff like that? I know I would like it!... Like a little Forum for that?
Another thing.. What about a Map of Middle-Earth on the site.. a really great map, not just a map with a complete lack of detail but a great map... maybe even several maps of Beleriand and Middle Earth.. the Plains of Rohan?...
just some suggestions...''

Radagast, we are working on a separate project which would indeed maps most of arda with 'accurate' 3d heightmaps. However, you will have to be patient as it will not be ready fro some months, we are also invovled in some copyright issues over the said project. More on this will filter out in due process, meantime we cannot put up any copied maps or such.
We might put up something as a gap filler, however.
Fatty
PS Thanks for the feedback

Oh! Okay.. But It sounds really great... 3D Maps.. Cool I hope you guys get it up and running...
What about the other suggestion? the place where you can discuss locations?... It might have been a silly suggestion because you can discuss it, in any of the Forums but.. it was just a suggestion..
By the way, keep up the great work!

Could you add a page listing the subscribers? I think I signed up as a subscriber months ago but now I don't remember seeing the money get sucked out of my credit card.
Plus it would be nice to see who else has subscribed.

The list of Forum Subcribers is on the Fourm leaders page here

Well....we tried that at first....at quite a few folks asked us to take it down as they wanted to be anonymous.
The subscribers that are part of the forums can be viewed by username on the Forum Leaders page at the bottom. You can access that page with the link that is just below the View New Posts link.
If you'd like I can verify if your subscription is still valid. Right now, seeing as how your sporting the Silver Ring, I would say that it is. :p But I can double check for you if you like.
Just email or private message me the name and email address you used when you signed up.
*Edit....Yea.....just follow the link that Nessa posted above. :p

I have a question. Is there a way to search the movie photo gallery by submitter's name. The forums occasionally contain refernces to pictures submitted recently, and I am having trouble finding those specific pictures if the post doesn't contain a hyperlink. Thanks.

I wanted to ask why the art section has artists a-l and m-z, but they are not designated within these sections. I hope I'm asking in the right place. Is this meant to be like this. It's just a little confusing. It's only confusing part in this wonderfully put together site.

I don't know about that Anaron... maybe it's best to ask the authors of the posts to provide links
I believe it's alphabetic order by artists' last names, Kiril
