Soon every clone in the area gets involved, and in the distraction Vani slips away and hides.*

I've only seen it once (opening day, baby!) but I want to go again really soon with some friends. It is amazing, and although it is darker than the other two, I agree that the violence seems less up close than in TTT.

Why No One Is Evil

Melkor ~ Different Views. He had different thoughts from the rest of the Valar, and therefore they labelled him as evil, just because he was in the minority.

Fëanor ~ Misguided and Confused. His mother died before he could know her so there was never anyone to teach him love and how to keep a hold on his temper. Also the creation of his that mattered most to him was stolen and his father was killed in the process. No wonder he was bitter.

Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod, Amras ~ Held By Oath. They showed loyalty where it was asked for, and after they had made the oath (which I am certain they regretted) they couldn't really go back on it.

Sauron ~ Tempted by Morgoth. Morgoth was stronger than him and so he bent Sauron to his will. Sauron was Aulë's maia and then the Dark Lord drew him away from Valinor. He would not have left without temptation.

Eol ~ Lonely. I know he kept Aredhel against her will but he lived all alone and it must have hurt him a lot when she and Maeglin ran away - he really did try his best for them.

Ar-Pharazon ~ Misguided. He was only human, and easily led off the path.

Saruman ~ Tempted by Sauron. He was Aulë's maia once as well... doesn't say much for Aulë, does it? Maybe we should blame him.

Gollum ~ He was weak, yes, but that did not make him evil. Although we all hate him he was consumed by the Ring for much, much longer than Bilbo owned it and even after it was lost to him he could never rest. This object made him kill his best friend - surely he could not have been acting conciously!

I felt sorry for him too! I thought that was one of the saddest things in the book, because Gandalf said that he didn't think that Gollum was beyond help, but he couldn't be cured in the end.... mecry
