This is similar to You know you are a Tolkien Fan but I took it a step further so, here are some qualifications to being a not only a fan but a dyed in the wool, growing pointy ears, should be working not on this forum Tolkien Geek.

Qualifications:
1. You are so comfortable with you Tolkien Geekiness that your non Tolkien friends don't make fun of you anymore
2. You can name the Vanyar, Teleri and Noldor (Past and present) kings in Valinor.
3. You can name the High Kings of the Noldor in ME
4. You know the Two Lineages of Gil-Galad
5. You know more of Arwen's geneology than your own
6. You think to yourself: 'I need to get another less consuming hobby' but can't put the books down.
7. You're tired of Christopher Tolkien's editorializing
8. You know who Elrond's Great Great Grandmother was
9. You know the Elves in Beleriand never had a chance
10. You wonder how Legolas got from the mouths of the Sirion to Thranduil's Halls

Feel free to add your own

How about

11 you have to replace your copies of 'the' books every so often because they get worn out with constant re-reading
12 you get more than three duplicate mugs/calendars/movie guides about ME at Christmas (ie you are SO obvious to buy presents for that you end up getting the same things off different people)
13 you have a potted plant called treebeard
14 other Tolkien fans start using you as an example of why they haven't got a problem (ie ...at least i'm not as bad as Rumil...)
15 you can say anything at all about Erendis

Can I replace #11 with "You buy another set of "the" books so you don't completely wear out your paperback first printing editions with constant rereading" ?
I have to go to the store this week, the binding is really starting to crack badly, and I don't want the cover to fall off FOTR.
This edition is older than I am (and that's saying summat) and I want to always keep them as part of my permanent collection. Like having everyday plates and a set of good china.
