This is a story that Eruanne and me started writing together in Geography when we were bored... anyway we got hooked and it seems to be ongoing! I thought I would post some of it here and see what you all thought. We both wrote parts of it so if there is a change in style here and there then that is why.

Eruanne

There was an elf called Eruanne and she was 1006 years old and she lived in Rivendell with her father Legolas. They lived a happy life until suddenly one day they were out riding when Legolas was attacked by some orcs. Eruanne screamed and tried to fight but failed. She rode for help but when they returned her father had vanished, though all the orcs were dead. Eruanne shouted his name out to see if he was around but there was no answer. Eruanne got off the horse and ran around calling his name out for a while but when there was no reply she fell to the floor in tears. He was the only family she had. After a while she returned to Rivendell with her horse, Aranel, and hoped he would come home, for he had not been seen dead. But centuries passed and as Eruanne grew up she never gave up hope. She was sure one day he would come back to her. She went to live in Lothlorien and there she met up with her friend Laitainë. Once Laitainë asked about her family, but Eruanne didn't say about Legolas because it was too painful to remember. This time she thought about telling her but before she could, Laitainë left Lorien and went to Mirkwood to see her cousin whose name was Arwen. So Eruanne had to stay in Lorien and she was very lonely. She spent her days walking round thinking about her dad and wondering what had happened to him.

The next day she left Lorien and started the journey back to Rivendell. On the way she met up with Galadriel and she decided to tell her about her father. It was a very long story but when it was over she felt better. She promised Galadriel she would visit Lothlorien again soon. She started off again and rode for an hour or two before stopping for the night. Suddenly she heard a sound. It was a scream! She did not know what to do. She could run away or she could go and see who was screaming. She grabbed her bow, fitted an arrow and went towards the sound. But when she got there, there was no one there so she looked around for a while and noticed signs of a fight on the ground. She followed the signs and saw orcs who had taken an elf prisoner. Straight away she shot the orcs and untied the other elf.

‘What’s your name?’ asked Eruanne.

‘Elrohir son of Elrond of Rivendell.’

‘My name is Eruanne and I am on my way to Rivendell, are you going there?’

‘Yes I was, lets go together.’

They started to ride towards Rivendell. As they rode they talked about their lives. Eruanne found Elrohir easy to talk to and started to be close friends with him. Before they knew it they were in Rivendell.

‘This is where I used to live’ Eruanne told the dark-haired elf as they put their horses in the stables. ‘Then I went to live in Lothlorien.’

‘Why did you leave Rivendell?’ Elrohir asked.

Because it had too many memories, Eruanne thought but didn’t say. Elrohir noticed she didn’t want to talk about it. So in silence they left the horses, and walked into the building.

Eruanne looked around in amazement. She had lived in Rivendell for many years, but had also been away from it for many years and she had not remembered the beauty and magnificence of her old home. She was so happy to see her home that she did not stop smiling. She noticed Elrohir talking to some important-looking elves. One of them was Lord Elrond, his father. They came towards her.

‘You saved my son’s life,’ said Elrond. ‘Without you he would be dead. You can have any reward you name.’

‘I don’t want anything.’

‘There must be something you want,’ Elrohir interrupted.

‘No. Unless it could be… to find my father.’

‘You do not know who your father is?’ Elrond said.

‘I have not known where he is for centuries.’

‘So why did you not tell anybody till now?’

‘I told one person and that was Galadriel and she said that he would come back to me one day.’

‘Who was your father?’

‘His name is Legolas.’

There was a shocked silence as the other elves looked at each other. Elrohir said, ‘You do know, don’t you, that Legolas is prince of Mirkwood?’

‘I did not know that.’

‘I wonder why he never told you.’

‘I was very young when he vanished.’

‘Still I thought he would tell you.’

‘Yes, I think he should have told me.’ She was surprised, her face was white.

‘If you like we can go to Mirkwood to find him.’

‘Maybe.’ She really wanted to but she was unsure. She hadn’t seen Legolas for years, and she had never known he was a prince. She did not know what to do.

She decided to go for a walk to clear her head but the walk made it worse. She spent a night or two crying but then she decided to go. She wanted to go on her own so she decided to leave at night because she knew that if she didn’t she would be made to take someone with her.

She got her things ready and left a note explaining why she had to leave. She was in the stables getting Aranel ready when she heard footsteps outside. In panic she turned to go, but it was too late.

Elrohir came through the door and saw her.

‘I knew you would do this.’

Eruanne went red. ‘Sorry…’

He cut her off. ‘I’ll come with you to Mirkwood.’

‘Please don’t come, I want to do this myself.’

‘No I want to help you out.’

‘But I can do this on my own.’

‘I know you can. Just let me come to Mirkwood with you. When I am there I don’t have to stay with you if you don’t want me to: my sister is their, and my friends.’

Eruanne thought about what he said, and she decided to let him come. They rode silently out of the courtyard and into the wild. They rode for a while then Elrohir asked her if she knew anything about her father.

‘I know that he was fun to be around and that he was the only family I had and he was handsome and I love him. I bet I am boring you?’

‘No you are not, I find it interesting how you never gave up hope. I would have given up centuries ago if it was my dad.’

‘What I don’t understand is that, if he’s alive, why didn’t he try to find me?’

‘I don’t know. Maybe he did but you were not there so he went to Mirkwood to see if you had gone there and when he saw that you hadn’t he thought you must be dead.’

‘I would love to see him again.’

‘If he’s a prince, and you’re his daughter, then you’d be a princess right?’

‘I guess so.’ She hadn’t thought of that.

‘I’m a prince too,’ Elrohir told her. ‘One of the princes of Rivendell.’

‘I know.’

There was a pause. Then Elrohir said, ‘I was wondering if you would like to hang out sometimes?’

‘Yes, I would like that, but first I have to see if my dad is alive.’

‘He is alive I can tell.’

‘How can you tell?’

‘Because I see him in your eyes so he is still alive.’

‘Thanks, that makes me feel so much better.’

‘Good.’ They smiled at each other, and rode on in silence.

At about 10 o’clock they decided to stop for the night. When Elrohir was asleep Eruanne sat looking up at the stars. As she looked up at the sky she thought of her dad. The sky was clear, there was just one star up there shining brightly. Eruanne turned to look at the sleeping figure next to her. His face looked angelic in the starlight, and Eruanne suddenly realised that she was falling in love with him. She sat there for a while looking at him, and then she fell asleep.

The next day was cold and wet. The travellers had reached the misty mountains and would have to find somewhere to cross. Eruanne was not very hopeful but Elrohir seemed to know a way. They got halfway across when Elrohir decided to ask her what was wrong because she looked upset.

‘Why are you upset?’

‘I am not. It is just that I saw a new star in the sky last night and I am worried in case it is my dad’s star.’

‘Do not worry, he will be waiting for you in Mirkwood.’

‘I hope so.’

‘I know so.’

If you see anything that we have done wrong, please tell me! lol I hoped you liked it and if you did we will update it.

OK no one has read it but here is more anyway lol

They kept riding, when suddenly Eruanne noticed movement ahead of them.

‘Did you see that?’

‘What?’

‘Over there behind that rock.’

‘What, I did not see anything. Aren’t you seeing things?’

‘Get down!’ she screamed, throwing herself to the side. Elrohir ducked in his saddle as an arrow flew where his head had just been.

‘We’re being attacked!’ cried Elrohir.

Eruanne didn’t answer, just tried to free her bow from her pack. Elrohir was dismounting, sword in hand. There were about 20 orcs running out from behind the rock, mostly holding daggers, though a couple had crossbows.

Eruanne managed to free her bow and drew an arrow to the string, hearing the whoosh as it swept through the air to meet an orc’s throat. She felt a thrill of battle, while noticing at the same time that they were hopelessly outnumbered. Half the orcs were running towards her while the others attacked Elrohir. One of the orcs with a bow had shot his horse; it was down in a pool of blood. Elrohir was busy decapitating his enemies with his sword; their black blood was staining his tunic.

An orc was hacking at Aranel’s forelegs, the horse reared, throwing Eruanne to the ground. She screamed and Elrohir turned, seeing orcs bearing down on her. He ran towards her as Aranel knocked orcs down by kicking them in the head.

Eruanne saw the orc above her raise its dagger to cut her throat, she closed her eyes knowing that there was no escape from death this time. She waited for the pain and the darkness to come, her only regret was that she would never say goodbye to her father. But the pain never came. When she opened her eyes she saw Elrohir standing over her, and realised that this time he had saved her life. But there were still several orcs left, and Eruanne knew Elrohir could not fight alone.

‘I can fight! Let me up.’

He looked at her, worry in his eyes. ‘Be careful.’

‘I will.’ He moved aside and Eruanne rolled away, grabbing her bow. She saw there were six… no, five orcs left, and one of them, the largest, was obviously their leader.

She fitted an arrow to the string and let it fly, killing one of the remaining orcs as Elrohir beheaded another two. Now there were only two left: the leader and one with a bow. Reaching into her quiver for another arrow, Eruanne found she’d run out. Swearing, she ran to the nearest dead orc, and grabbed his dagger.

Elrohir was fighting with the orc captain, who seemed to be skilled with swords. The elf did not notice the orc with the bow, who stood higher up on a rock. As he finally overcame his opponent, thrusting his sword into the orc leader’s chest, he felt a sudden pain in his shoulder.

‘Elbereth!’ he swore, staggering a little with the pain of the wound. Eruanne, running towards him, saw his face go white, then grey as he collapsed onto the ground. She saw the final orc raise its bow again, ready to shoot the fatal arrow.

‘Noooooooo!’ she screamed, flinging the orc-dagger at the figure on the rock. Luckily, her wild throw hit. The orc slipped off the rock, the dagger embedded in its head.

Eruanne didn’t wait to see if it was dead. She ran towards the fallen elf, calling his name over and over again. Reaching him, she knelt down and lifted his head. It was still a little warm, but although his eyes were open she could see no life in them.

‘Oh, Elrohir!’ she sobbed. ‘Please don’t die. You mustn’t die. I need you. Tolo dan na ngalad.’ She checked for a pulse: it was there, which was a relief, but so faint. She knew he would die before they reached Mirkwood, even if she could find the way and they were not attacked by orcs again.

She lifted him up onto Aranel, and collected some arrows from the fallen orcs. Then she cleaned Elrohir’s sword of blood and put it into the sheath at his side, which she then unbuckled and fixed around her waist. Then she mounted the horse and rode on towards Mirkwood, while Elrohir’s life slipped away beside her.

As she rode she started to cry because she knew that he was dying and she could not do anything to stop it. She knew in her heart that she had to let him go but she could not do it. She rode on as fast as she could to clear her head of all her thoughts.

Elrohir started to fade away and Eruanne knew he would not last, she rode faster, and left the dark mountains behind her. She was really tired and covered in travel-grime and blood. She knew she should stop soon and rest, but if she did Elrohir would die. She was feeling dizzy with loss of blood and fatigue, and the wood was still far away. She was riding harder and harder, putting all her will and effort into it, and Aranel reached the start of the forest.

But though they were in the trees they had not reached the Elven halls at the far east of the wood, and Eruanne did not know the way. She rode along the muddy path, but her horse could not go on and when Aranel stopped Eruanne fainted in the saddle, with the body in front of her barely alive.

Hi i am Eruanne and i am going to write a bit more of the story so here it goes.

Hours later one of the Mirkwood elves was out hunting when he saw them and rode up to them. The elf saw that they were not well and took hold of the horse's reins and lead the horse to the elf settlement. When they were there he got other elves to come and help them, and Eruanne was taken to a room where she was nursed back to health.
When Eruanne woke up, she was in a room full of sunlight. She felt clean and refreshed.
