wouldnt it be cool if hundreds of years into the future we have like a robotic army? just hundreds of thousands of completely kick *** robots trained in every art there is..but they're dumb so they cant overthrow the human race. haha..

I swear this is so weird. This guy came to our school the day before yesterday to talk to us about artificial intelligence...we completely ripped it out of him. There was no way we were going to be told the ins and outs of creating artificial intelligence without first being given a justification for it! :nono:
IMHO creating other beinga with intelligence is just gonna make things worse...we can't deal with some human actions, or understand them. To create another race that was intelligent, even slightly intelligent, would result in a lot more unanswered questions, questions that we might run out of time trying to find the answer to. :mmmm:

the thing is...i don't understand how people could ever make AI thats more intelligwnt than humans...i don't think humans are especially clever, its just that surely they can only be as intelligent as we make them and therefore they could only be as clever as the most clever human..if that makes sense to everyone.

Not necessarily...people are aquiring more knowledge and perfecting skills all the time. If we made a robot as intelligent as the most intelligent human being then they too could advance their intelligence like a human would. Intelligence is the ability to aquire knowledge and use it, in which case intelligence is never limited. :o

Yeah, the ability to learn is built into the concept of AI.
Everyone saw Terminator and Blade Runner, right? :o
Honda already has a domestic robot in a few homes as a test. I saw an ad about it in a magazine - Time, or Newsweek maybe? No middle of the night rampages with household appliances yet, but I think it's a programmed model, not an AI version.

intelligence is different to knowledge. you cannot increase your intelligence.....

But what i'm saying is that with intelligence you can continue to aquire knowledge and then use it to further increase what you are able to do. :p

Ditto, Pil!
That's why intelligence tests have questions having to do with sequencing - to see if the subject can recognize the pattern, learn it and predict the next step.

but i'm not saying that they can't have more knowledge than us. just that they can't be more clever....so we're basically agreeing!
