Can someone tell me what book should I read to learn about the history of the first age?
Thank you

The Silmarillion. That also covers the Second and Third Ages, but mainly the First Age.

well the section youve put your thread answers the q as Ash said.
Once you have read (and reread probably, its hard to get it all the first time) the Silmarillion you can read Unfinished Tales, which add to the Silm and LotR, there are sections for first, second and third age there. But first you have to read the Silmarillion.

i've been reading a book called
The Complete Tolkien Companion and it is pretty good, it is just full of the names of things, and is good if you want to know what someones name on here means or what Valdar are and so on

There is also the History of Middle Earth series. They aren't new stories. Just more info on LotR and the Sil.
