visual effects and sound editing were the two oscars TTT won this year, I was a little disapointed but I hope more for the ROTK next year, though I think TTT should have one for cinematography and film editing.

It was a little disappointing, but not a total loss. In general I was relieved TTT actually won one visual and was pleasantly suprized for the win in sound editing. And was satisfied that Chicago didn't do a clean sweep either. Everyone knew the truth was that TTT was also the best film of the year like FOTR was. Chicago isn't much better than a Las Vegas show. 13 noms probably intended to snub LOTR but they couldn't pull it completely off.
Cinematography mabye. Film editing though, I don't think so because the movie postprod. was rushed to the end thanks to NL probably. It's editing is rough and not perfected like FOTR was.
I hope ROTK will sweep next year and finally get best pic. The less Boyens has to do with the script the better. Her input totally messed up Faramir's lines and made him into a villain. And Aragorn was puffed up into Theoden's nanny and Viggo turned into a photogenic bossy Conan wannabe.(Witness him sitting on the steps like he owns the place and swings that kid's sword with a Lionardi DiCrapio attitude..woosh woosh..duh its a "fine" sword). A little more and he would have been another Faramir.

I was cheering for them, even though they were technical awards. The thing I am upset about is that they were never nominated for "Best Costume".

I was happy that TTT won two oscars. Kind of dissapointing but hopefully RotK will do better.

I am not too disappointed that TTT only won two awards. I saw chicago and thought it was a fine picture and deserved to win. Of course i read somewhere that a lot of the votes and nominators didn't vote for TTT because they were still holding out for ROTK which they figured would take the show. It seemed that FOTR got a lot of nominations last year because it was new and no one had seen a film done like this. TTT is kind of like "the middle child sndyrome" like some actors call it because it comes inbetween two really great films. TTT was great in my opinon but i rather have ROTK win most of the oscars next year than have TTT win this year.

I agree, Galadriel. I would rather ROTK win, and on the subject of oscars won, I must say that I predicted it would win two (not that I'm bragging), and I thought it totally deserved the ones it got. Although I must also say that I am a wee bit "confused" about TT not being nominated for score, costume, and cinematography, etc. According to the Academy, it can't be nominated for these as well as other caetegories because they consider it to be one "work". Well if that's true, then how could it get nominated at all? (I hope you realize I'm being sarcastic). I just don't buy the "well it's basically the same movie" argument. Anyway, three cheers for the Oscars it DID win. They are well deserved! entdraught Maybe it will blow the Academy away in ROTK!

Yeah, as they consider the three films as "one", ROTK should do the best at the Oscars. Fingers crossed! In a BBC interview with John Rhys-Davies, he said that he thought ROTK would get more because they viewed it as one film overall.

I'm quite sad that TTT didn't get best pic (though that was expected) although I did like Chicago very much.
I read from somewhere that they'll probably leave it to the last part of LOTR-ROTK to give out all the grander awards like 'best pic' and special achievement and all... and let's hope PJ will get Best Director!
My guess abt why they didn't get nominated for best costume is cuz they have it last year and the costumes were basically the same for the main characters anyway.
Anyway, three cheers for the guys behind the sound effect editing and the visual effects! They did LOTR and us LOTR fans proud!

Is it me, or is Lij saving up his energy for RoTK?
What I mean is, that Elijah has not gone to a single award show this year. At the People's Choice Awards, he wasn't there. At the Actor's Guild Awards he wasn't there. (although Sean A, Dom, Billy  and Andy made it) and he wasn't there for the Oscars.
It could possibly be that he is working on other movies, yes, but really, he lives in Cali, he could at least show up to one...

I didn't see Dom, Billy, and Andy, but did anyone else notice that anytime the camera would flash to the LOTR section the only person they would show was Sean A.? I watched nearly all of the award shows and the only LOTR character that I've seen is Sean. Where the heck is everybody else?

At actors guild, when Sean A came to provide the synopsis for TTT, you saw Dom and Andy, it was only later that I saw billy (though it was a quick shot, so you could easily miss it) and they gave Dom a little side shot on the Red Carpet at the Actors Guild.
