One of our own departs for war.....

I received the news today that our Armoury Editor, original staff member, and dear friend Orc has been called to active duty and is departing to the Persian Gulf as a part of the American presence there.

He has sent me a 'farewell for now' letter, and has requested that it be published for all to read. I am honoured to do so, and you can read it here: A Call to Arms (http://www.warofthering.net/specialnewspages/acalltoarms.shtml)

We here ar War of the Ring would like to express our fondest wishes for Orc, his family, and all those involved.

Our, hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you mate! You and your family's both. May no shadow cross your path during this journey and may the Valar bring you home to us safe, sound, and soon my friend.

This was news. I haven't spoken to you in a while, and I don't know you that well, but it was still a shock to read this. I agree with everybody above. I wish you all the best and hope that you'll be back soon. I also hope that this war will be short and that as few people as possible will get hurt. War is just meaningless, in my opinion.

Well, at least we have an Armory specialist going. That should help. Now we just need to get a protective spell cast on Orc from Galadriel, and a few tricks up the sleeve from Gandalf, a few crebain spies, and of course a magical restorative kiss from Arwen.

I'm off to Ft Mccoy tomarrow, so this may be my last post for a while. I just wanted to pop in and thank you all one last time for all of your support. It really has meant a lot to me! It will definatly keep me going over there.

Orc is fine and has not left the country. He's still in Ft. McCoy and has been getting 48 hour passes to go home just about every weekend! He sent me a couple of updates as well that I shall endeavor to add to his page straight away.

He checks in with me occasionally and misses being amongst such fine and admirable folks as yourselves and always sends his regards.

My humblest apologies for not keeping you updated. I've been a busy boy and have been neglectfull in this area, but I will keep you all posted from now on...I promise!

Great news!!! I got word yesterday that Orc has received his "demobilization orders" and will be home safe and sound by next weekend!! :whoohoo: :hooray: :wiggle:

Maybe we'll have to have him some type of welcome home party in the Pony or something! :p
