I agree: Howe is a great artist. I've got the "Flight to the Ford" painting as my desktop at the moment.

Can someone tell me how you save them onto your computer if they're copyrighted and it won't let you?

well........:shhh: you just look elsewhere for the same image where it isnt copyprotected..............now im not condoning pirating images, but the fact is that there are heaps of them around on the net, and as long as youre using it for your own use, i dont think its that bad a thing ;)

My favorite John Howe painting is Sam Saving Frodo from Shelob. Something about Frodo's dirty feet show his total need, and Sam's ferocious determination reminds me of Gandalf's words: "There are greater things at work in this world than the will of evil." It gives me hope in the face of despair!

omg i just bought a book, "Tolkien World" that has paintings of Middle Earth (pics from Hobbit, LOTR, AND Silmarillion) by a bunch of artists including John Howe... there are great pictures in it...and didn't cost that much either... find it at Barnes and Noble...
it's an awesome book that has pics from Ted Nasmith and Alan Lee too (among other artists) :)

I love John Howe's pictures! His works are so beautiful. :) The pics are always very sharp and specific. He's a very talented artist. My favorite is the one a hobbit and Nazgul is riding on a river.

i like so many of the i can't really say i have a favorite... i think he uses colors wonderfuly .... and i love the way he does gandalf

I really agree Ludibunda! i like that painting too! Sam looks so brave :)

Other John Howe paintings that i like include the panoramic of the landscapes of ME that you can find on his web site... also like the picture of Minas Tirith he painted..just breathtaking =)

Howe's landscapes are beautiful and breathtaking. I don't care much, however, for the way he does the characters.

i really like the way he does gandalf

yeah his landscapes are wonderful... i really like black rider one with the hobbits crouching low on the tree as well... it can be found in the link Kenzie provided =)
