View Full Version : Haiku Game

Igtica
April 1st,2003, 07:55 PM
Okay I really wanted to make up a game and some how I came up with this. It's probably a bad idea, but that's me all round. The idea is to write a Haiku that has something to do with the person's before. If you don't know a haiku is a poem with 3 lines ,with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the next and 5 in the last. I'll show what I mean by this with my Haiku. My Haiku is about Shadowfax, so the next will have to be about something that has an association with Shadowfax ie Gandalf, Rohan etc
So here's mine:

Above all other horses,
Shadowfax gallops gracefully across all
The plains of middle earth

so the next will have to be about something that has an association with Shadowfax ie Gandalf, Rohan etc

Rohan, grassy plains
Eowyn and Eomer
both live in Rohan

BTW I think you have more than 7 syllables in middle line

Their quest will be hard.
They must travel to Mount Doom
To end Sauron's rule.

Hmmm I count seven Shadowfax has 2, gallops 1,gracefully 2, across 1 and all 1. I guess it depends how you count the syllables. Some names don't have as many syllables as words they use and it can depend on the accent you say it in too. This is the only problem with haikus, but well done on yours and thanks for playing!

A ring Gollum fell into

Poor little Smeagol!
He was seduced by the Ring
Now he is Gollum.

Shadowfax has 2, gallops 1,gracefully 2, across 1 and all 1.

I think there is 11--> Sha-dow-fax (3), gall-ops (2), grace-ful-ly (3), across (1), all (1).

Oh well, not that it matters now!! ;)

Woa guys woa!!

Before you get carried away and turn this into a free for all, it might be nice to consult the thread Mistress first.
The idea is not to compose a story out of haikus but to write a haiku that has something to do with the one that was writen before.

These are the rules as they stand at the moment:

The idea is to write a Haiku that has something to do with the person's before. My Haiku is about Shadowfax, so the next will have to be about something that has an association with Shadowfax ie Gandalf, Rohan etc

So the next haiku should either be about anything to do with Aragorn, The Elves (for long life), Elrond.....if Miss Igtica gives the go ahead for a 'free for all' so be it...but unitl then we stick to the rules okay?

Igtica

Thanks very much Nessa for watching this for me whilst I've been thinking about my other game LoTR Surivior. The idea was to try and link up the Haiku's so that it created a challenge to write about something to do with the person's before. If it was a free for all would it not be a game? I don't mind if you all wish to do a free for all as your the ones using the thread. I'm glad that this thread is used in the first place. But if it is a free for all, Nessa may have to consider moving this thread to a Poety section as it won't be a game anymore.

Igtica ;)

No problem sweetie, that's my job ;) and you are quite right ofcourse, if this becomes a free or all then It's moving to Poet's Corner, as it would be strictly poetry and the game aspect would be gone. I can't move it back if it goes over there though, my powers are limited lol
So either it's one or the other!
