Hey everyone,
Some of you may remember a while ago I started analyzing and compiling genealogies for characters from Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. Fortunately all the hard work is done (most of it being scrawled on scraps of paper wich I will scan to the computer) and I now wish to compile a book which holds the ‘family trees’ and different Middle-Earth calendars that I have been working on. Unfortunately I am not a computer whiz or an artist for that matter and I wish to create borders for the ‘trees’. If anyone here is interested in drawing borders and other originally work for this project could you please reply or e-mail or pm me. One thing that I stress is that a scanner is a must. I do hope to try and get this published and I will take into full consideration that whoever the artist may be will get credit for their work. I started this project to use as a reference to anyone who has ever become confused by the many names and families that Tolkien created for his books. All the genealogies have been researched and written out by myself (a lot of long nights surrounded by Tolkien books). If you do reply I will be asking for some examples of your own work. Any questions just ask and I will gladly answer them.

Cheers,

Jarryd

Sounds like a cool project. Are you going to upload a pic for us to see when it is done or do we have to buy the book?

Well here is the problem. I could post the trees here but that would not compensate for the work I have put into this project. And I'll have to buy the rights to Tolkien's work before I can try and sell it

What do you think abozut online family trees, like this one (http://genealogy.finlayfamily.org/) (The example is not about my family, just a very good work). I think, it wouldn't be useless

Hey there Steve nice to meet ya...what do you mean by "borders?" I fancy myself an artist but I don't know if my work is the caliber that you're looking for, or the right style...

Please tell me yours is going to be much more artistic than the one in the link above...very informative but also very boring visually.

Also, if you are interested in the deciphering of Tolkien's work and have some skill at it, you should talk to Fatty about the 'Annals of Ea' online guide that we're trying to get going. I think there's a link somewhere in the 'Announcements' forum if ya haven't already been there...

talk atcha later!

Hm... I think, this border-thing has come from Moses, it's not my idea or problem (or whatever) :p And he wants to creat this project on paper (if I understood it correctly)
Yeah, the solution I've posted is not very artistic, but its main task is being informative (therefore it becomes a bit boring visually - you've right) :)
However, its design can be improved, if somebody has good ideas about it.

Moses, are u doing family trees for men...elves...hobbits or what? I could do some elven type drawings if ur doing elves. :)

I am doing every single race that Tolkien ever had some sort of family generation involved. So yes I am doing...
Hobbits, Men (Rohan, Dale, Dol Amroth, Minas Tirith, Arthedain Rhudaur and Cardolan, Aragorn's line (which is just Cheiftains of the Dunadain)), Elves, Orcs (Yes there is one), Eagles, Spiders (Ungoliant anyone?), Dwarves and even The Mair.

The point of these Family Trees and Calendars is for a "Tolkien Guide" of somewhat so it would need to be informative and visual. Pil and Tirithel, my e-mail is l3astard92@msn.com and by borders I mean a simple A4 border on paper that is conected to the race that the family tree is about.

For example: If the family tree is about Elves, I would like that tree to be inside a border that is somewhat elvish so readers can relate the border to the race.

I already know about WotR projects and I offered to help with the trees and calendars that I created yet I have just contacted The Tolkien Estate and am waiting for a reply about my project to see if they are interetsed and if I can get it published. If not I will help WotR.
