What do you think, will the marriage between Aragorn and Arwen be shown. I think so......but wil it be brushed past quickly ala the book or a big hollywood fireworks and singing..or..?

Yes! A new thread in rotk! :)
I think it will be shown, but rushed through, not quite like the book though. I expect something more showy, having seen the films so far.

as ive already said once....tho ive no idea where.... i would like to see the wedding used as the metaphor of change that i think Tolkien intended....the end of one age and the shifting into the next....plus im almost certain that itwill be used to take away a little of the sting of the departures, which i am fairly sure PJ will include....adding a little sweet to the bitter....at least, i fervently hope so:grin:

That's a great idea :catz: but wouldn't the timingbe out of sync? Frodo was AT the wedding...wasn't he? Oh confusion...

Mmmm but this is movies were talking about....it could be done with flashbacks or intercuts...there are several techniques that could be used....

Spose...it is definitely an opportunity for PJ to do summut great. I dunno why, but i really see a big orchestral climax for the wedding...horns...trumpets...drums... you can tell that i ponder over every note of the soundtrack... :embarras: :read: :dragon:

they might make it into a bigger thing than it probably should be because they did want a love story in the movie, and they did play up this one.
hopefully though they might make a whole musical sequence for the scene after the destruction of Sauron just to represent the changes of good and evil...

I agree that the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen should also be a spectacular event in ROTK.
I want to see it all - a grand precession, parades, fireworks, and great music. :)

Maybe PJ would rush through the wedding to show the first night.... Or not?
The greater part of the audience would love a big wedding, you know what I mean.... So good chance to get one, but for me the wedding must not be overdone, but who asks me?
Aragorn Isildur
July 21st,2002, 02:21 PM
Do you mean consumation of the wedding? I doubt PJ would go that far because it may bump up the rating and stop a whole group of people being able to see it.
Aragorn:king:
Ronin
July 24th,2002, 01:46 AM
talk about stopping the conversation dead.....nope, no consumation....like we would want to see it...."Do this, do that....no, like this....here, let me show u....have u ever done this before?" :naughty: :evilcool:
and just for notes, i'm going to the wedding in my birthday suit
for my money, i believe there will be a combination of the grandiose and the cursory for the Wedding of M-e. Yes, the romance has been built up more than what was given in the book, but i believe that since it hasn't taken predominance it gives a little window to see how PJ will handle the final act. big, but not too big....heartwarming, but not soppy. as with :catz:, i'm hoping for something bittersweet...stunning and poignant. and to be honest, i have no doubts that we'll get it.

*pil rolling around in computer room laughing* roflmao
Ronin...ur soooooo amusing! lol  lol
Birthday suit? :naughty:
I like how you wanted it poignant...it was just the word i was looking for. The wedding should not only be a nice event, but should be an indication of the times...a metaphor... :embarras:

calm down Pil......breathe.....;) lol lol
Ronin, Ronin....such an exhibitionist :elfeek: :nono: in front of the kiddies and everything :o.....and not a trout in sight either;) lol
*sighs* these fanboys....they just cant resist showing off ;) roflmao
yeah the wedding is a great metaphor for the end of the age of the Elves and the start of the age of Men....plus itll be good for the Tolkien virgins *laughs* at least one happy ending lol

I really do hope they make a production out of the wedding. I was so ****ed off that the actual wedding was only one paragraph in the book! *Sigh*

i think they have to to be honest....and frankly...why bother building up Arwen if her weddings gonna take 30 seconds?
yes i think the Wedding will be in and done well....have to agree with Ronin here....poignant and bittersweet.....

I agree....with the amount of character building arwen will have recieved by the end of ROTK...i think the event will be spectacular! :)

Hahahaha.... Even Tolkien didn't write it, so don't he DARE to go and add more irrelevent data in the movie, because he already overlooked poor Glorfindel and cut A LOT of scenes...

It annoys me that he seems to want to make such a big thing out of the Arwen and Aragorn relationship. I think he should stick to the book! He has already cut things out so that he can add more romance to the story. LOTR is not about romance!

mmm....i know, when i found out why arwen had such a huge part i started wondering why they had to have loadsa romance in it...it isn't a romantic book.....

nah i like how they did it in the movie. and im sure the wedding will be perfect *sigh* and i have no doubts it will be as good a movie and ending as FotR. *sigh, heartfelt sigh*

i think they'll make it as long as possible...there would be no point in introducing arwen as thoroughly if they were only gonna show a minute of the wedding!

I think they should skip the wedding and go right to the reception. That's what I always do. :)
Seriously though, there are two problems. 1.) Anachronism. PJ would have to re-invent it to show no relation to Christian traditions. (I better not see a top hat either!)
2.) Weddings in movies are so BORING. I am sick of every variation in movies on weddings, along with baby birthings and labor pains, and people throwing up. (At least the last movie I saw had the DOG throwing up instead of a person. Gezz, don't movie makers know the meaning of the word 'trite'?)pfbbt

i forgot bout the whole religion thing but that shouldn't present that much of a problem coz they could just have them pledging their lives to each othre or something...or they could go down the AotC root and have a very minimilistic wedding....or not!!

Yeah...it would be a bit...i dunno...eastenders...first a love triangle...now a double wedding...what is lotr coming too?! :o :nono: lol
I'd simply looove to see leggy getting jiggy with it...only on the dance floor...not... :fanboy:....sick minded people... roflmao
I think bonos-girl is right...the religion thing would not be a problem...many people get married in this world with no religious influences...i intend to anyway...no church wedidng pour moi...
I think it'd be nice to have elrond put arwen's hand in aragorn's and lots of elves throwing white rose petals...then a big knees up in gondor...the whole city celebrating... with a far off shot of Minas Tirith...all the lights and festivities...a bit like the one in moulin rouge when they pan out and we can see the men's hats flailing around in the distance...only we could have roses... :)
