View Full Version : EA's TTT could have been better...

I think that EA's TTT had a lot of potential, and came as a bit of a disappointment to me, for various reasons:
It was a hack 'n' slash game. There is more to the story than just chopping up orcs!
Because of the above point, some locations, that would have been wonderful to explore, such as Lothlorien, were ignored.
It only followed Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli's journey, which is a same since Elijah Wood provided the voice for Frodo in the game, but was only in three levels.
Sam, Merry and Pippin were not modelled, and were missing from Weathertop and Balin's Tomb.
You couldn't play as Gandalf! This meant that you couldn't fight the Balrog!:(
Don't get me wrong - you do feel like you are in Middle Earth, but so much more could have been done with the game.

i played it on PS2 and i thought it was not very good, the game i thought was made well and good graphics but the whole menu thing and doing each stage with all 3 characters seperately it was just **** in the end. I would of liked it were you select a character and play the game as him IMO that would of made it alot better.

I just got the game, and I rather like it...I think it's so much fun! Hey has anyone unlocked the secret character? Am I right in thinking that it's Eowyn?

Sorry, it's not Eowyn. That would have been great.

The secret character is Isildur. And for my vote, i say ttt is good. Although they need more levels. Fortunately, ROtk is supposedly going to nclude 12 more levels (MINAS TIRITH PLEZ AND PELENNOR):). Also u will supposedly be able to play as merry and pippen as well as gandalf. Thi

Do you know how it is going to be set out?? like FOTR style or TTT style???

The ideal game would be FOTR's gameplay and TTT's graphics, not to say that graphics and gameplay were not good in both.

But doesn't anyone think TTT was a little tedious? You basically hack, hack, hack, that's it.:( You could probably do some levels without looking at the screen, for god's sake. You couldn't interact with any of the characters. An RPG would have been much better, in my opinion. I know the graphics were great (in fact, among the best I've ever seen), but the game itself just seemed far too repetitive. To tell the truth, I'm not sure if it would have been successful at all if it hadn't been a LOTR game.:(
The ROTK game looks like it could be a little better. It sounds like the locations will be a little bigger, and you can interact with objects.

You need to have a combination of Interaction and exploration in game along with battles that are good to play, not just hack and slash becuase hames like that are just so boreing!

I will agree with Saruman's statement - TTT is a bit too linear for my liking. It would have been nice to have a larger gaming environment which was more free-roaming, although not many games have this (Morrowind is probably the closest games have got to full free-roam). The routes you take are too restrictive, and hopefully ROTK will rectify this.
