We are going to create an online guide. now I know there are many, some amazing like Encyclopedia of Arda, some less good.

We think that we can create something rather special.

Details will emerge. Meantime we need to start recruiting staff.

So without further ado.

Non-technical

Entry Scribes and ProofReaders

We are still after more people to compile entries for the project and to check entries which have been submitted.

For the former you should have read at least The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and preferably The Unfinished Tales. HOME would be helpful but not essential.

You should also be able to research accurately and write up your research to a high standard of English.

This is a long term project and will involve some difficult work. so please only apply if you are prepared to stick with it.

The only reward will be helping to build a great resourse, as well as copies of the guide for your own use at home.

If you are interested please email Fatty@warofthering.net with details of the position you are interested in and why you would make a good candidate for the job.

Proof Readers will need simialr experience, but commerical or professional knowledge of proof reading would be a great help. Either that or a high stadard of education in English Language.

Artists

Artists:

We need more artists to create original images of characters, places etc.

Included line art, paintings, computer art and 3d modelling.

Apply if interested to Fatty@warofthering.net
Language 'gurus'

We are after people with a passion for Tolkiens' many languages and writing systems. this will form a vital part of the guide and indeed may be one ofthe most complex parts to complete.

Those interested in this position should contact Fattyhere (Fatty@warofthering.net).

Technical

3D Graphic Designers

We are after a few people, some to work on modelling objects and others to work on landscapes. Some examples of your work would be handy as would familiarity with the likes of Maya or equivalent.

You would be working with the rest of the team in bringing Tolkien's work to life.

Those interested should contact Fatty@warofthering.net

Map maker/cartographer

We are after someone with either a great interest in map or a professional expereince in creating accurate maps. You wold be working with the Graphics team to provide them with good quality maps to render. Knowledge of heightmaps would be useful as would some sort of geography based degree.

Those interested should contact Fatty@warofthering.net

Flash Designer

We need someone with a lot of experience in designing Flash applications. Now we don't mean that you can use SWISH or create a banner. We really need someone with a good understanding of all the features, action scripts, etc.

Those interested should contact Fatty@warofthering.net

Well that is it for now. We will maintain this page and adjust it as necessary.

As with all positions on the site, there is no payment. Though I daresay some great satisfaction is to be had in working on such a project, as well as some good expereience.

Thanks

Fatty

Dear Fatty,
I was not able to reply to your link, as it requires being registered on Yahoo, which I do not use.

My time is limited, but if you need writers or proofreaders, I would be willing to help where I can.

Regards,
Elentari

Folks we are still looking for additional artists to help with a project we are working on. If you want to know more and think you could help then please email Fatty@warofthering.net .

Oh and if you have applied before and received no reply please mail me again as during my offline time I accumulated over 2500 emails and might have deleted some in error.

Thanks

Fatty

I sent an email but it sent from the wrong account (STUPID PC)
I would love to help
I've done some proofreading for my mum's company and as editor of school magazine.
Not exactly stunning I know but I'm one of those annoying people who proofreads everything they read and if you can find a use for me I'd be happy to help.
ah well, I'd be happy to do any old thing to help - I'd offer to make tea or summat but it would be impractical to send it via post.

I think you could sing me up for any of these or for all of them anyway...I think it's the 5th time I try to get through James, but either you are too busy or you have lost each and every one of my e-mails...luckily I saved the last copy and I might have it in my outbox, so ...if I mail it to you again would you be able to take your time to give it a read?mecry
Just posting it here because there's no other way since Illu himself has told me that he has mentioned it to you before:(
