Do any of you have life ambitions? My unrealistic one is to get a book published (yeah, like that will ever happen)lol but my more realistic one is to:
go to uni, get a good degree, save money for years and hopefully find a partner  then, when we have saved enough, move to NZ in a large house in a picturesque setting....OK, maybe that's unrealistic too, and I know it's not that simple, but hey, I can dream, can't I? ;)

Well my unrealistic dream would be to move to hollywood and become a famous actress traveling all over the world shooting movies and meeting tons of famous people that may becoem lifelong friends. Yah I know really unrealistic. So my realistic dream is to become a lawyer(well that is what it is at this moment lol). I then want to move to Florida and find a good job. Then when I am older I want to travel the world with my future Husband or best friend. I also want to back pack across Europe when I am college. So much to do, so little time.

April 14th,2003, 02:41 AM
Ah, the Hollywood dream, I wouldn't mind that, but as an ambition I would love to do that, I plan to study music and drama, as I already do both, then work on it from there. If that doesn't work, then the fashion world as my uncle's a fashion stylist. That doesn't work I'll study natural history as I find it really interesting. ;)

My unrealistic dream: be a rich archaeologist (which is practically an oxymoron, really). I want to live in Turkey or Italy, close to my excavation site, so that, every morning I can wake up and walk through a beautiful field under the warm sun. I want to marry a foreign man (have to love the accent), who shares the same love of classical archaeology/anthropology as I do. I would like two boys, but not at the same time (not twins). I would also like to be on one of those documentaries on the History Channel or PBS, talking about an aspect of Roman culture....

Will all of this ever happen? Probably not, but I can at least dream, right?

This is my back-up plan: earn enough money every month to pay the bills and survive. So much happier than the first one, isn't it?

I then want to move to Florida and find a good job.

Galadriel- what type of lawyer? My friend's parents own a real estate law firm if you come down to my area (central Florida).... I can put in a good word.... ;)

I would like to have my trilogy of novels published someday. :read:

Little Devil
April 14th,2003, 12:26 PM
That would be a really good idea, but I could never do it, lack of imagination and patience. I would love to be in the movie industry of media. :grins:

April 14th,2003, 05:39 PM
i'd like to get enough money so i never have to work again if i didn't want to, i don't want fame or fortune, just £10 million will do me.

Bonos-Girl
April 14th,2003, 06:09 PM
lol...easily pleased B!! lol

i wouldn't want never to have to do anything again..it'd be so boring...like by the end of summer holidays everyone wants to go back to school cos you've all done everything there is to do!

i have a few ambitions...my main one is to get one of those lovely volkswagen hippy van things....they are sooo nice.....

and erm..to become a forensic pathologist....like thats ever gonna happen!

and if i ever meet Bono, to actually be able to have sensible conversation with him (i think thats the most unlikely of the three!) lol

Luvara
April 14th,2003, 06:15 PM
my ambition is to move to USA and have a ranch with horses...

Bawax
April 14th,2003, 06:38 PM
i'd like to not have to work if i didn't want to basically, i dont' mind working but it gets a bit annoying when its the same old **** all the time.

i'm currently going for a job that i always wanted as a kid but i'd rather not say cause i don't want to put a jinx on things. :)

Bonos-Girl
April 14th,2003, 06:40 PM
now you've got me all curious....hmm.....was it a job that lots of people want as a kid (y;know like firemen, train drivers and stuff....)

Bawax
April 14th,2003, 06:45 PM
yes, its a popular job amongst many kids but not too many end up doing it, the average age of people starting the job now is 28 so its not for school leavers. :)

Luvara
April 14th,2003, 06:46 PM
what is it? *curious*

Mocha
April 14th,2003, 06:54 PM
hmm I think I cannot answer this thread as I have a new ambition everyday! These days I have the ambition to be the writer who would fix and complete Tolkien's work...but I think it's a pretty fat chance of me doing it lol lol lol
*sigh* I really do have great expectations, hope that one of them would come true in the future ;)
A real ambition that I have is to graduate from school with a percentage higher than 90%....I had 92% in the first term so I want to have the same percentage for this term, hopfully this will come ture

Bonos-Girl
April 14th,2003, 06:54 PM

*hands Aragon and BG her famous Bazooka* Believe me, I'm well known for it...It's also known of me that I'd form into a monster with a bazooka up one of my nostrils and that I'd run after who's annoying me while shooting :flamer:

*Hands you the bazooka after wiping the snot away from it *
Have fun! ;) ;) ;)

April 15th,2003, 03:48 AM
YayBoromir! and Sindarin- what types of books do you want published? I think it would be awesome to publish a book, but I think I'll tire too easily of writing page after page after page after page on the same topic. Sure, essays are easy enough, but books? Ack....

YayBoromir!
April 15th,2003, 07:50 PM
In answer to your question, Caligula, probably a fantasy novel. I'm writing a fantasy story atm but I have really no idea where it's going... lol Still, the people I've shown it to think it's good, and as I like the characters I'm writing about, hopefully it will be an okay story...

I would love to go back to school and get a second degree in Astrophysics. I didn't do it before because my family said, "what're you gonna do with that? There's too much math!"

I would also love to become a dancer, as in big Broadway productions. But my parents didn't approve of that either, had to take piano lessons instead.

We've got two kids and I will do my darnedest to support them in whatever they feel a calling!

April 15th,2003, 08:42 PM
I'd love to be a singer - loooooooong shot...

As for the more realistic hopes - I want to finish uni, and get a job as a translator. Meet (and marry) a nice man. Have one or two kids. And a cat. And a nice place to live. Yes, that would be nice... :)

Little Devil
April 16th,2003, 01:37 AM
That doesn't sound to hard I guess, I've never though about marriage only career plans, some of my friends have designed what they want their wedding dresses to be like......

Dreams!?
I would love to perform on stage in musicals for a living for the rest of my life.
Maybe make a Cd or two and have a lifestyle where I could have Ranch and home that would allow me to have a kennel with a number of large breed dogs. And one Pomeranian and one Daschund. Oh and a couple of cats too...Besides the one I have.

Life Ambitions!?
To be a mom, and a wife and to make the lives of those I am responsible for easier whenever it is possible. To love and to teach and to always be learning. And to ultimately achieve the Eternal goal I promised myself before I was born.

i would love to get married in the middle of a wood...but i have this feeling that no sane (or even insane) guy would wanna get married to me in the middle of a wood! lol it would be so cool though...with the sun filtering through te leaves....

Little Devil
April 16th,2003, 03:58 PM
I think it's a really good idea, sounds very pretty. ;) I wouldn't mind.
I would also love to act on stage that would be amazing, another friend of mine wants to star in a muscial, Les Misrables. ;)

I tell you, Linte, it's scary how much we have in common! :o

Well, at one time, I wanted to pursue the acting thing. I did it in high school and found that it was (and truth be told) still is my passion, but life is calling, and I'm having to let that one go for now.....Other ambitions: learn to play the violin, learn as many languages as I can, develop my stories, and work on my sketching (am I on the "artsy" side or what?!) Oh, yes, I also want to travel Europe, but mainly to visit all of the countires my ancestors hail from. I guess that's about it. Right now, I just want to finish college and get a good, steady job.....

lol well i'm going to Uni to study Physics, but i dont know what i want to do after that. A lot of physics graduates actually go into banking so i might do that and try to earn lots so that i can retire early and take up art again lol Yep my life plan for the mo, though i may decide to go into research who knows. I could never be a teacher. Kids have no respect anymore, i mean i've actually noticed it changing as i've been at high school. When i was Year 7 i was scared of the teachers and everyone pretty much did what they said. Now alot of the youger pupils don't seem to care at all. It's quite scary really. I dont know if it's the same in the US though. Maybe t's just Britain going downhill lol
I think if i do retire early as well as doing art i'd like to do charity work. I think it's important to help somehow. I dont want to be someone who just cares about themselves. I wonder what i will end up doing. I suppose it'll be interesting to llok back and see how much of what i planned actually happened.

Thank you Mocha. I think mine is going to be hard to achieve but this morning my dad said that my writing is more sophisticated than JK Rowling's lol (probably because I'm aiming for a slightly older audience in general!) hehe! I'd love to have a book published though, and made into a movie - what I would give for that... sigh...

Mocha
April 19th,2003, 06:13 PM
I have that same dream, YayBoromir...but the thing is, you're already trying to achieve it while I'm not :(

YayBoromir!
April 19th,2003, 06:16 PM
Well, I'd be interested to see your writing style. You don't have to leap into a story straight away, maybe you could just try some ideas, or perhaps a short story, before going for the big one! A fun thing to do for a fantasy story is world-building, here's the world in my story, entitled Haucon (beware, it's quite big lol):
http://www.cix.co.uk/~cscgillingham/hauconmap.png
Why don't you send me an extract of your work over PM, and I'll have a look at it for you? You can achieve anything if you put your mind to it...;)

Mocha
April 19th,2003, 06:23 PM
Aww thanks for the advice and support dear YayBoromir...I'm loading you're link as I write this down.
I'd have to say that I've written about 5 stories so far but all of them were the stupid "comedy" types like the ones you see on TV. And I've lost them all when a virus infected my pc of which I had no backup of or what so ever. But I'm happy it's gone cause it was a piece of ____ you know?

Now I want to follow the footsteps of Tolkien  so I'll try to write something when the Summer Vacation starts.

I used to read Rowling's books, actually I only read the 1st and 2nd part of Harry Potter....she's not a bad writer, for young kids that is

Hmm let's see now...I think I'll comment on you're map in another reply cause it'll take me a long time to read it ;)

brb

Mocha
April 19th,2003, 06:28 PM
WOW! :elfeek:

What a GREAT map!! So cool! It's obviously based on Tolkien's map ;) so what language did you use in it? and can you send me the script of the story?

YayBoromir!
April 19th,2003, 09:51 PM
Thank you Mocha! :)
It wasn't based on Tolkien's map, in fact - I'm trying to make it as different from Tolkien's work as possible, as I don't want to be accused of stealing. The language used in it is my own language I made up, called the High Tongue, and I'll send you an extract of the story over PM.

I got it, just came online a few mins ago and will leave now...I borrowed the FOTR from a friend of mine and I intend to watch it twice today...lol so I'm going to watch it in a few minutes for the 2nd time today...am I being a tad to much of a LOTRaholic? Naaaaaaaw! hehe

I only borrowed it from my pal cause I intend to wait till all of the movie comes out together in a "special edition" pack that would obviously have more goodies that it has now  I just hope that I will have enough patience till 2004 :mmmm:

oh and I believe that I asked for the script and not an extract from the story...I demand that you send me the whole thing or what you've written so far...cause it sounds great! I loved the beginning! *sigh* :loveyou:
Great job! and please send me the rest..pweeeeze with Boromir on top :naughty:

My current dream is to get 5 As and Bs for AS levels! Not a chance, but never mind.
Eventual dreams - find a job I love, a partner I love
thinking of job in science - poss biochemistry
oh well, just have to see

If all else fails I'll earn a living writing obscure poetry. I did want to be a writer when I was small but I don't have the talent to write anything original

Bonos-Girl
April 21st,2003, 01:03 AM
obscure poetry? weird! lol

biochemistry sounds interesting....there was a stall about it on options evening last year and they didn't have anyone loooking at it cos noone knew what biochemistry was so me and a friend felt sorry for the people who gave up an entire evening to stand around in our hall for a few hours so we went over and asked what biochemistry was all about..it did look fascinating!

Little Devil
April 21st,2003, 01:53 AM
So what was it? I think it's so funny when people don't go to some of the options, had that this year there was a guidence consuler and she sat for ages with no-one coming to her, I eventually went, though she was pretty boring. ;)

Bonos-Girl

At least you try to explain, BG. I'm the kind of person who'd get annoyed very easily if I try to explain something and it does not get through the person I'm talking to's brain....I'd have fumes out of my head in mere minutes....lol lol I'm bad at these things...

me too....like if i try and explain maths to someone. i always have it completely clear in my head at the beginnning and i get really frustrated when they don't understand, but then by the end i'm more confuzzled than the person i'm trying to explain it to! lol

OK - had a look in the dictionary
Biochemistry: the study of the chemical and physio-chemical processes of living organisms

OMG - maybe I chose the wrong career!!!!!!!
I just read something about women never getting good jobs in science research

Oh well, it's what I wanted to do since year 7 - I love understanding how life works especially at molecular or cellular level. Do I sound too wierd??????? Had biochemistry recommended to me by 2 teachers and I trust their judgement so maybe I did chose right

still - just have to get the A levels done first:elfeek: :elfeek:

Understanding life at a molecular level is a whole heck of a lot easier than understanding life at a "more advanced" stage (i.e. human life and behavior). ;)

I love genetics (a sub-category of biochemistry). I think if I had never taken Latin, I would be aspiring to become a genetist rather than an archaeologist.

My sister is actually a biomedical engineer and knows a lot about biochemistry. If you do have questions about biochemistry, I'm sure she wouldn't mind answering a few questions. PM me if you're interested, Elbereth!!

I think Physics is the most interesting  It answers questions at the same time as creating new ones. The only thing for me is that no matter what i learn i still keep thinking "how?" It's all so unbelievable sometimes. I mean the thought of all the thousands of millions of stars and planet and galaxies in the universe, things like that. And things like how the universe began stuff like that never cease to fascinate me lol

Goodness gracious! We got into a debate over sciences there for a while! Past all that, I would love to work with exotic animals - be a trainer, live in New Zealand or Scotland, have my two llamas, burro, and horse and carriage...and find true love, if it exists! (ahaaha..) That would make me very happy...and money, of course, to afford it all. Keep on dreaming, for the day your dreams end, you die. Namarie....(Rune)
