Which do you think was Mogoths greatest abomination (i will not use the word creation in the same line as him) was it the numerous savage orcs, not very strong but able to multiply like rats and cause great harm. the Dragons, huge and powerful and infested with evil demons with great mental prowess. the Wolves feirce and fast filled with dread spirits.the Trolls strong and powerful, a mockery to the great Ents.other, please feel free to enter your own opinions on the matter

Í had kind of a problem: I couldn chose between orcs and other for I think orcs have caused the most damage and death but the Balrogs have slain many great and valiant kings, and also destroyed many that was beautiful. So I couldn't choose, but orcs already had a vote so I supprot the Balrogs and choose other.

Hmmm. I voted for dragons. I thought that Balrogs were good (Did I just say that?) But they Dragons were strong. They could breath fire and the second generation of them could fly. I mean, think of Glaurung. All the **** happened to Túrin and Nienor, because of him. They can cast spells, fly, and breath flame.

Yeah i voted for the Dragons, i think they were sort of feirce somewhat, plus would you call the Balrogs morgoths Abominations?? as they are of the valar

yeh the 5th spot were originally ment for the Balrogs but then i remembered that morgoth had no part in there creation, they were Ainur b4 the world was made, sure he currupted them but i dont think they shud be counted in this. i taut orcs, altho they were weak, they managed to do allot more with the power they had then many more powerful creatures

I would definitely have to go with Orcs on this one. Although not as terrifying or mighty as many of the other perversions of Morgoth, Orcs have definitely had a greater negative impact on the history of Middle-earth than all the other entities combined. Orcs are like cockroaches ... they hang around and cause trouble ;)

Well if we count how he created the things, I should go with dragons, which although didn't serve as greatly as most of the others, we're the ones who were maybe really created... or at least their form was His creation/abomination.
If we go by the damage they caused, the orcs get the prize... the reasons were already mentioned.
Also I would have to say that the Ents weren't that hard to turn into trolls... it seems to me that any ent that got angry before Isengard was that close to troll.
Wolves deserve probably more sorrow... they turned down for food most probably... but the wolf is the one that howls at the moon... it wouldn't be Tolkien if it wasn't there...

I'd have to Orcs. pfbbt Morgoth took Elves and corrupted them. *shiver* That alone is an abomination to all that Illuvatar created.

yeh it was probably Morgoths greatest insult to Illuvatar, and to the elves themselves

But if you don't count the Balrogs as creations of Morgoth for there spirits were made by the Valar, you can't call orcs creations of Morgoth either for the foundingfathers of the orcs are elves created by Illuvatar, then taken and "changed" by Morgoth into what we now call orc's. The same thing happened when Morgoth corrupted the Maiar spirits of the Balrogs and turned them into demons of fire. It just depends on how you look at it. P.S. I go for orcs. Algamesh, Voroturiön, Mirkgirl and Gil Galad have already given the reasons why

the balrogs were Ainur created by the mind of Illuvatar b4 the world was made, and they adhered closely to him in his rebellion in the song of the Ainur and became most like him in his fall. i dont think they count

I do rather like being awkward... I went with 'Other' I know it is not a 'creation' but it was a grave evil nonetheless...
Namely: the marring of Feanor...
From the Silmarillion, and the description of the mourning of the Valar:
And they mourned not more for the death of the Trees than for the marring of Feanor: of the works of Melkor one of the most evil

Since you ask for 'Greatest Abomination' I will say Orcs. They may not be the strongest, but they are the greatest abomination because they mock Iluvatar's children. They are also the most enduring. Not too many dragons, but orcs are everywhere.

I agree - orcs it is - for all the reasons given. In the Sil it describes the breeding of the Orcs as : "This it may be was the vilest deed of Melkor, and the most hateful to Iluvatar."

Agreed, Lasgalen. Orcs are the greatest abomination of all. To think that they were once Elves! Probably of the Dark Elves, who did not go to Valinor.

Poor Elves, awaking at the lake, :snooze: :elfeek:
hunted by Morgoth's evil minions, :batty: :flamer:
being captured and tortured, :fanboy:
then slowly turned into Orcs. :Orc: :Orc: :Orc:
Poor Orcs, you'd almost feel sorry for them. mecry

I chose orcs coz i thought it was sick what he did to the elves. However, there are alot of things that he did which i would hold pretty close to that. I think poisoning Telperion and Laurelin was really despicable.

He did a lot of vile things, but making a mockery of Iluvatars Children was the worst.

yeh i think that was definitly the worst, cos they r the children of Illuvatar the trees were only things created to help the children
