Some of you may know my story. Some, may not. But, in December, I ordered a UC Glamdring from a (then) reputable seller on eBay. Sadly, I have never recieved my merchandise from this individual and I have just about exhusted all avenues of recompense.

So, I had to sit down and think. Do, I really want to give someone else even more money for yet another Glamdring? Well, looking at my Sting and Narsil every night - I realised yes, I had to have Glamdring - it is one of the big three swords in Tolkien Mythology! So, I decided to take another route with my order.

I purchased Glamdring from the Noble Collection. My first thought when I held this sword in my hands was: Holy cow! It is amaaaazing!!! Unbelievable! Beautiful! Finely crafted! I could continue...

But, first here are the Stat.s:

Material: Stainless steel
Tang: Full
Length: 47"
Blade: 35"
Point of balance: 4" from hilt.
Width: 1.5" at widest point
Thickness: apx. .25"
Pommel: 11" with genuine leather spiral wrap
Crossguard: 9.5"
Weight: apx. 4lbs.
Sharpness: false edged, but could be easily sharpened
Plaque: Wood and mirror

This blade is incredible! It is a ~very~ well balanced, hand and a half sword. I can comfortably wield in in one or two hands. The cross guard and pommel appear to be made from antiqued silver or possibly pewter! It has a genuine lapis on the hilt and the runes are very clear and well etched. This is the absolute ~best~ replica that I own. I would *highly* recommend this sword! Although, it is just intended as a collector's piece this is the closest that I have seen thus far to an official, "functional" LOTR sword.

But, I have to confess that I chose to buy from the NC rather than UC, because I liked the shininess factor on the NC Glamdring. Much to my surprise, it has turned out to be a terrific sword all around!

Now, I don't mean to bash UC or their products...god knows I own enough of them and plan to buy many more! However, one thing that really put me off about the UC Glamdring was the fake jewel on the hilt. Also, their plaque, I find to be very uninspired. Couldn't UC have done something cool like make a plaque with a 'G' rune design or some kind of tengwar inscription? Also, I'm not a big fan of the shape of the plaque. But, that is just me. This is not intended as a slam against UC or their products! With that said, NC could have done a better job with their plaque as well. A mirror and sword? That's a dangerous combo., me thinks.

Anyhow. Some other differences that I noticed. The NC sword seems to be thinner and have a less pronounced leaf shape blade. However, both the crossguard and the pommel appear to be bigger than UC's version. The runes are much clearer on the NC sword. This sword, feels very light and very solid in comparison to my Narsil.

I hope that this info. helps anyone else who is debating which sword to purchase. I always find that it is best to hear both sides of the story before making a decision. And when I was looking to purchase my sword, I could find very little about the NC version. I know that a review of this nature, would have helped me to move forward with my transaction.
