Champions League Final tonight!
I would like to see Liverpool win it because they are English, but I generally don't like Scousers

Domlegolas

It is hard to calm down...
EoR, dont worry it is normal to be nervous before the match starts.
I always be nervous before MU starts the match, mostly I smoke a lot of ciggs before and during the match (no health :nono: ) but I cant help it.
After that I will feel very great or awful, depends...
Ellie, nice that u wants to best for EoR
Around five hours will start the match, so I will be ready to watch at tv

Maradona is there to see the match... And many fans did song "Just like a team, that's gonna win the Champions League - we shall not be moved" for Liverpool but I tried to find information about Milan but I didnt find at newspapers (swedish)....

Andy, I understand u completely and I am doing it the same thing!! lol but if Milan wins, so I just happy for Milan.
My favor is Gerrard for National team ;)

Best I stop to bla bla.... let me wait until the match starts ;)

:rose: no matter what will happen!!!!!

Ohhh, it was so hot match!! But in the same time unbelieve!!

I was so surprised by Maldini at 1 min to make a goal.. WOW as I thought then Crespo made two goals... During 15 minutes' break, so I started to think of Liverpool fans and I corcerned about them what do they will do after the match, I didnt would like if they will destroy somewhere in Istanbul but in the same time I thought of EoR, and I was so SURE that she was soo happy somewhere in Milan to celebrate, but when match starts again.... Surprised by Gerrard and Hidenmann (wrong last name??) in six minutes for three goals, unbelieved!!!
I was soo surprised!! "with open mouth"...
Wow... I believed that all fans did bit thears nails lol then 15 mins add, and then last another 15 mins, so Schevniko (no right spell name, I know ;) ) made ALMOST goal but Dudek was there.. Wow.. It was 118 mins...
Penalty kick (I dislike it)...
Unexpected that Milan missed two goals....
I am so happy that Liverpool wins because I feel that they deserve it a lot, (they "frusterade" in English Premiere League for several years) but in the same time I am thinking of EoR right now.... No easy for her,,...
I am so sorry but u did win last year ;)

I just want to show this picture as I found it at swedish newspaper, and it is cool so I want to share with u all... Nice background - Istanbul :) with tatoo as u see it..
http://www.warofthering.net/photoforum/showphoto.php?photo=11449

And this.... Gerrard :hyper: !!!!!!!!!
http://www.warofthering.net/photoforum/showphoto.php?photo=11450

I see many photos of Milan fans, ohh... It hurts.. Many cries.. :(
I dont want EoR or other who LOVES Milan to think that I am happy Milan lost today, no way!!!
Keep mind like "You'll never go alone" because u are still with Milan!! :rose:
U all know which teams I REALLY LOVE and CRAZY!!!!!!!! MU ;)

:rose: and :grouphug:

How did Dudek get away with all that during the penalty shoot out?? Maybe the jumping up and down could be seen as "Ehhhh. Okay, just don't do that again", but the ref didn't even talk to him about it! And Pirlo's penalty? He was WAY off his line!!

Gah. Maybe I'm just being bitter  , but GAH.

The fact is that we shouldn't have gone to the penalty shoots. Their 2nd goal was given after an off side.
and their 3rd goal was from a non-existent penalty.

We were fouls but, you can't tell me that liverpool deserved this cup

Domlegolas
May 26th,2005, 08:44 AM
Honest... I did think what EoR wrote recently.....
I am really feeling so bad that I wrote Liverpool deserves... because they frusterade in EPL..
EPL and CL isnt the same thing, I cant think of them together.

When is the match anyway?

Oh la la!!! England won two times (international friendly) against Usa-last saturday and Columbia-last tuesday!! :cuddles:
This weekend many national teams will have matchs for quality World Cup 2006, I dont know which national teams tv will show...I am like  .....

EoR, someone of my friend told me about ur favor player,Schenvicho (wrong spell :( ) is thinking to move to Arsenal or Chelsea...
??? Did u hear anything??

Also Figo is thinking about MU or Liverpool.... Lets see.... I never thought of him to move into EPL (English Premiere Leaguge).... but he is a fair player

Andy
June 4th,2005, 11:49 AM
Domlegolas ~ Shevchenko won't be leaving Milan unless they get paid a lot of money, probably a new transfer record. Figo has been linked with Utd for years now and I'd love to see him end his career here. But, the last news I heard was they were offering him in a swap deal for Christiano Ronaldo which is a definate no.

Domlegolas
June 4th,2005, 12:04 PM
Thanks Andy

It still talks about Figo,(I dont mind to have him there, I respect him a lot) so I am just keeping an eye. Also during summer trends to talk about sell/buy.... Lets see :rose:

For all Kaka supporters...

From acmilan.com:

MILAN - According to Gazzetta dello Sport and ANSA, Kaka revealed that he will marry with his historical girlfriend Caroline Celico, 17, after the 2006 World Cup. The declarations would be made in an interview on television station Globo Tv: 'I will marry after the World Cup, I hope as a champion.' The pair have been together for four years.
The way it's worded makes it seem a little suspicious, but if it's true....*sigh* well....as long as they're happy! Congratulations!!

Sheva is not going anywhere, Milan is not like Juve; we care about our players and since Andriy doesn't want to be "sold" you can be sure that he will be with us forever!

Andy
June 13th,2005, 12:58 PM
At least he will have the pre-season tour to gt used to playing with his team mates

Lady Arwen

Andy

Arwen, you maybe would not believe me but there was a period in which I loved Toldo - one single match I think in European championship - and that was when Italy played vs. Holland. (the year in which we gained the final vs. France)
but then after that match he went to Inter and...puff...suddenly he was an *enemy* lol

Lady Arwen
June 15th,2005, 09:13 AM
lol oh dear, i remember that match  i was in Dublin with one of those organised groups for the summer schools and they took us to see the match some place on a big screen...i was the only one who didnt care about the match along wiht a Russian girl who used to stay with our group for some reason so they let us go and roam around the city centre and ended up as good friends after that!lol

oh and i remember readin about disappointment about the buyin-sellin season that is starting...agree about it!!!i mean the year that i spent my weekends just watchin the premier league when the season was over i felt like Ok and now?wot do i do till nxt august?!lol

let's say he's not a Nobel, but one thing that I like of him (apart from soccer) is that he can laugh of himself.
to be honest I think that in Rome he's considered a God on earth and this can corrupt people's mind, so probably is the place in which he lives and play who has to be blamed the most.

Lady Arwen
June 16th,2005, 12:09 PM
lol he's not a Nobel!hehe!
your right about that anyway...its quite the same problem for any young footballer tho i think...as soon as they are discovered to be good at their game ppl start makin Gods out of them and if they dont have solid values it all goes to their head much to their disadvantage of course...*arent we gettin a bit too much philosophical now?!lol*

Eowyn of Rohan
June 16th,2005, 12:13 PM
*arent we gettin a bit too much philosophical now?!lol*
absolutely!!! lol
Now that I think about it....it's quite a while since I don't say FORZA MILAN!!!!
After what happened It was like "I'm dreaming...this is hell"...now, well, it's still like that, but I'm more calm and I can even say Istanbul! (and it's a HUGE step for me!! lol )

I was looking through some old tapes that I have and I found a really old Milan game from 2001, so I decided, "Ohh. This looks like fun!" until I discovered that it was the game during which Sheva broke his nose!! :o

OW. :-/ I'll have to find some pictures to post later, it looked particularly painful.

But on a lighter note, Kaka scored for Brazil against Argentina in the Confederations Cup final! Good game, though I felt for Argentina after a while.... now here's to hoping Chelsea doesn't get their hands on Adriano!!

as for the pics of Sheva's injuries...please don't post them...it makes me so sad to see him in pain!!! :( + it reminds me of the pretty serious injury he had this season when he broke his cheekbones..

Hi Anarion! Glad to see you..It's quite a while since you don't visit us!! Glad to see you too, Eowyn!!

Hmm, but for Vieri, take your pick of interested clubs -- Fiorentina, Juve, Milan, Bolton (hah!), Spurs, Newcastle (also reported to be after Figo.... ), Sevilla, and (of course) Real Madrid. I'd like to see him go to Fiorentina, but I think Spain is more likely.

Anyone watch the FIFA World Youth Championship? Argentina 2 - 1 Nigeria in the final, Messi looked wonderful!! Apparently, Barca have now thrown a $150 million buy-out clause  into his contract.

I don't think Adriano will leave Inter at least not this year. With people like Roman Abramovich, who knows??

He can go wherever he wants, but this means that he doesn't have to get near MILAN!!!!! He's not what we need...we have to bring Crespo back and get Gilardino. He and Shevchenko will be our "magic couple"!!!
PS I've heard that Van Nistelrooy wants to leave MU for Milan...is that true??

Anyone watch the FIFA World Youth Championship? Argentina 2 - 1 Nigeria in the final, Messi looked wonderful!! Apparently, Barca have now thrown a $150 million buy-out clause  into his contract.
You're totally right..Messi is an amazing player..but it looks like Barcellona can block all the good players around (Ronaldinho...my dream!!)

With people like Roman Abramovich, who knows??
Shevchenko..Kaką...Gattuso...Abramovich tried to buy all of our players and we shut the door every single time...it's true that he has loads of money but it's not everything...I think that Chelsea's is not a close club + Mourinho is unbearable and this can make the difference in a player choice!

Witch-king of Angmar

Nobody seems to like Maurinho! lol
Abramovich is asking players all over Europe and nobody wants to go there!
Even some of his players want to leave, Crespo and Drogba for exemple. :-/

PS I've heard that Van Nistelrooy wants to leave MU for Milan...is that true??
I heard too about him but he wants to stay at MU until 2007 or -08
but if MU will buy another new forward player. So it will be a lot of forward players, then Van Nistelrooy is the forward player as they dont mind to sell him..
Lets see....

Van Nistelrooy won't go now, unless there is a mysterious "11th hour" Bid that is accepted.

If Utd buy any major names this season I can see it being Steven Gerrard from Liverpool. What an amazing talent he is!

On another good note, Park's work permit has been accpted so now his transfer to Utd can be completed

It's quite a strange summer market...big names and loads of money promised but still nothing changed!

Me to Andy me too..
and now Mr. Abramovich is trying to disturb Milan's market in order to get Gilardino.
+ in my opinion keeping a player, Crespo, who badly wants to stay at Milan, is not good for him and for the team itself!

Gahh!! I hate Chelsea!!! verymad What is it about English clubs that make them think big name South American non-defenders play WELL in England??! They just DON'T. Veron, Crespo, Forlan, DOES NOBODY LEARN?? Crespo did not play well in England! He was not happy there! He considered ending his career because he didn't like it! Hell, his wife doesn't like England either!! Everytime he spoke about returning to Chelsea he stated quite clearly HE DID NOT WANT TO.

So why, why, why, why, why is Chelsea keeping him in England?!!!! mecry

</rant>

Generally speaking, of course...

Thankfully, Gerard has chosen to stay at Liverpool. (Sorry Dom!) MU certainly needs a more solid central midfield, but I can't ever see Gerard fitting in. I don't care much for Stevie (Alonso is far better), but it just so happens that the night that it appears in the press that Gerard asked to leave, Chelsea pops up at the same exact time with a £32 million bid for him.

Coincidence? I thinnk not.

Chelsea is bullying the transfer market and showing NO regard for FA regulations & rules (Cole, Obi, Arnesen, etc.). It's just nice to see someone as wanted as Gerard not bow down to money.

Forlan is at Villareal (in Spain), and his 25 goals helped push them into fourth place (a Champions League position -- '05 - '06 will mark Villareal's first ever appearance in the CL in history) and earned him the Pichichi for most goals scored in all of the top flight European leagues (he tied with Thierry Henry). And all this from the guy who scored 10 goals in two and a half years at Man U. Interestingly enough, Forlan says he wants to play for MU again. :p

Because I feel like it: Transfer Updates!!

Hah. Looks like Figo is officially moving to Liverpool. I secretly hoped it'd be Newcastle...oh well. Kieran Richardson has allegedly been sold by Manchester Utd (why??? He is so promising!) for £3 million. But this is, thankfully, just a rumor.

Michael Ballack is (very) interested in playing for Man U. Yaay. He'd be a nice addition, but it does nothing for the club over the long term. In the next few years, him, Scholes, Keane, and Giggs will be retired/done. And who's going to hold up the midfield then? Darren Fletcher?? I think not.

In other news, Real Madrid are very interested in snatching up Rio Ferdinand, especially with his delay in signing a new contract with Man U. Hopefully, the ungrateful wench will hurry up and sign the darn thing, rendering all bids useless.

Eowyn of Rohan
July 8th,2005, 08:07 AM

Anarion ~ I would happily take £3 million for Richardson. I've been watching him at Utd for at least 3 years now and he should have already broken into the first team, but he isn't good enough. I think he is on loan for a season at Celtic or rangers. I'm not too sure.

Domlegolas ~ Rio and Ronaldo will delay for a bit longer yet, it's just natural. They will sign eventually as both have publically said they want to stay.

I heard about Figo and Liverpool as well, but I now hear that Madrid are going back on their word and not letting him leave on a free transfer, but instead wanting Liverpool to pay for him. But Liverpool are refusing to give any money for him. But who knows.

Anarion
July 9th,2005, 12:14 AM
Andy, last season Richardson was loaned out to West Bromwich, but he's back for the 05/06 season. He certainly hasn't had a good showing for Manchester Utd, but based on a good performance for WBA, I think next year he might get a little more play time and more of a chance to prove himself.

The Parma/Milan/Gilardino deal is still (grr!) done resolved, with the price differential being £3 million (Milan offering £19, Parma wanting no less than £22). I agree with Galliani, though, that "there are sums football cannot sustain". *sigh*

But on another note -- for Milan supporters -- is it just me, or is Adriano Galliani the single most misquoted man ever? Or does he just talk out of his (cough) rear and retract/contradict every statement he makes about a day later? lol Just over the past week and a half (paraphrasing, obviously):
"Milan will not make any more transfers this summer"/"Err...wait, we're not out of the transfer market yet"
"Gilardino cost too much, we're not pursuing him"/"Err...wait, I said he was expensive, but we might buy him anyway".
Gaaah. Pick one or the other, the summer transfer window is stressful enough.

Fun steal of the day: In August 2003, Milan bag Kaka for a whopping £6 million. Wonder how much he's worth now...? ;)

Domlegolas
July 11th,2005, 12:35 PM
Yes, too earlier... So it is so hot in Italia.... Humm....
Oh, I wish see MU every week as I did when I was in Europe ;) but I always tried my best to watch at MU oftenly... (how? Go to pub lol )
Yeah, C.Ronaldo... I am seeing that he improves himself a lot when he started in MU until today.... Impress it... And sometimes he worked doubles (so hard) than other... Sometimes hmmm......not so wonderful.... But I cant forget that he is still young,so give him more chance to develop himself in field and team...But his character, I like it.... In addition he is too young to have the character, it is so good that he has a lot of motivations and great attitude. It is just mine opinion...If he keeps like that in a few years more, then I believe in him to be better player in furture... He can be like second Figo in furture ;) It is up to him....
But curious what does Andy will say... lol .... because I am not alone MU fan here at WOTR, I have him

Andy
July 11th,2005, 07:55 PM
Many think he dives too much, when in a matter of fact, he is actually fouled a lot, just watch the replays. He was the most fouled player in the Premier League last season lol

They just chop him down because he can easily out pace them when he kicks the ball past them. He has improved a lot over the last 2 seasons and so I see him developing into one of the worlds best players along with Rooney. That's why United want to keep hold of them because they are both like 19 and so are tying to build a team around them.

He has become more of a team player and has stopped diving pretty much all together as well as trying as best he can to stay up from the bad tackles he recieves.

He can play both wings as he has two good feet and a ferocious shot - just wath some of the goals he scored last season.

On the whole he is a good player and that is why Utd want to keep hold of him. Their biggest challenge will be stopping him from going to Real Madrid because he is said to prefer the climate in Spain.

I think he will be here for a few years yet because he said in the Press that "United is where I want to be at the moment and I am happy here".

Eowyn of Rohan
July 12th,2005, 10:52 AM

Milan is still waiting for the official news that Gilardino will be our next season!

Andy
July 13th,2005, 12:12 PM
I will be jealous if Milan get Gilardino as he's a good player

I would have liked Man Utd to have gone and bought Gerrard from Liverpool when it looked like he was going to leave. But, alas, he is staying.

Supposedly we have no transfer money as we spent it all last season on Rooney! But since the Glazers have taken over I think they should buy us a world class centre half to play with Rio Ferdinand as Silvestre makes too many mistakes. Somebody like John Terry would be perfect, but I can't see him ever leaving Chelsea

Eowyn of Rohan
July 13th,2005, 12:19 PM
oh yes the Glazers..I've heard that you guys are not so happy about him buying MU (increasing price of tickets and gadgets)...Anyway I don't think he could be a new Abramovich!

And as for Chelsea I don't know...footballers don't seem to be so keen to go there, even if they are paid literally with mountains of gold!

I've heard also about some declaration Crespo just made..about how he's happy to be back at Chelsea..ok he has to say so, but it hurts! I would have never let him go, expecially when you have to buy Vieri to cover Hernan's role.. :-/

I haven't been following Park very well, but I know that he's been outstanding for the South Korea NT...

Looks like Vieira is a Juve player now! I don't see why Arsenal didn't ship him off to Real last season, though, they were offering MUCH more (around £24m) than Juventus bought him for (around £12-15). *shrug* I read that Arsenal might get 2-3 Juve players (in addition to $$), but besides Appiah, what Juve player would be worth getting??

Milan oh-so-close to Gila now....!! Parma's holding out until Monday, but even a "no" doesn't look so bad -- if he can't go to Milan, Gila says he'll see out his contract at Parma. This is no good for them, because the longer he stays on, the less he's worth; and if they hold out until his contract expires, they can't make any money from him -- money that they badly need.

Vieira has gone for £11.7 million I think

Ballack would be a great signing for Man Utd. He is planning on leaving Munich as well, so lets hope we manage to get him

About Glazer, i am not too bothered about him as it is all Media speculation and a small number of Utd fans who think they speak for the majority. I say give him a chance.

Park was signed for about £4 million and i think he is amazing. He caused Milan so many problems in that Champions league game. He is supposed to have a huge engine in him as well, so he will be up and down the wing in no time. I look forward to watching him play

Meh :-/ . Not too keen on the new kits (Zafira??? Why don't they just stick with Opel?? Zafira technically is Opel, right?), but it's nowhere near as bad as Juve's red disaster (haha red & green is soooooo non-Juve) and ManU's blue-but-looks-kind-of-radioactive-purple away kit. I think I have a rather perverse love for bad jerseys lol. Sadly, Liverpool did get off relatively well (white/red/green away jersey -- done much better than Juve's ;)) and Newcastle's grey-green (I think. The lighting was weird.) away looks very nice.

Looks like Chelsea have comleted the signing of Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips for £21 million.

It's a lot of money if you ask me because he isn't a proven international, or proven in European tournaments. But, he is an amazing player in the Premiership and he doesnscore some brilliant goals, even if he is a small guy

Anarion
July 19th,2005, 04:53 PM
He should have little trouble breaking into the first team, as he is incredibly talented and can open up a lot of possibilities for the team (in terms of playing style, pushing other players into more suitable positions, etc). Should they land Essien, Chelsea's midfield will be (on paper, at least) unstoppable.

So there has been a lot of speculation linking Michael Owen with a return to the Premiership, especially with Man Utd being linked with taking him.

So who do you think will buy him, if he leaves Spain?

*sniff sniff*..............*sniff sniff* Do I smell a.....new season? :p

Ladies & gents, the offseason has ended!! Tomorrow begins the 2005-2006 Barclays English Premier League, kicking off with Everton and Manchester United playing the first game of the season. :yahoo: Other weekend fixtures include:
Saturday
Aston Villa v Bolton Wanderers
Fulham v Birmingham
Manchester City v West Brom
Portsmouth v Spurs
Sunderland v Charlton
West Ham v Blackburn
Middlesbrough v Liverpool

Sunday
Arsenal v Newcastle
Chel$ki v Wigan

Sadly, the transfer window does not close until August 31, so still a few weeks left of painful speculation and loads of more time for Lyon and Chelsea to drag on the Essien saga. :nono:

*sigh* I love the smell of live premiership games in the morning. ;) T minus 17 hours.

edited to add: To answer your question, Andy -- the only team that is looking like they want to buy him is Newcastle, but I highly doubt he wants to go there. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and ManU don't need him. Not to mention they have areas they have to bunker down first [Arsenal -- def, mid; ManU -- mid; Chelsea -- well....um. Just Essien, really.] before looking to buy another striker. If United buys him before finding a suitable replacement for Keano, I'll be peeved (after long hours of laughing at 'pool fans, of course lol).

It was a great opener to the season today. The United vs Everton match was played at a great tempo and I thought overall United deserved the 2-0 win. It was odd though, after seeing Phil Neville at United for so long, to see him wearing the Everton strip against us - and his brother.

I can think that MU possible buy Owen, also Saha is hurtingfor a while....Lets see....
And I am very surprised that Andy Cole moved to MC (Manchester City).... Ex MU... Hmmm...... Fell sorry for him after he left from MU for a few years ago...
Anyway,MU MU MU MU!!!

Oh,I agree with u, Andy that I was so excellent to see MU today, it was so great!!! But I was little surprised about Everton, and a few times it scared me too much but I had to thank Ewin to save ball....hmmm......
Oh, it wasnt easy to see Phil Neville in Everton team...hmm.... It hurts me a part but I still care him. And it takes time to be used, isnt right??
Too happy to see Keane today. Know that he will not play every match, already agreed with Fergis. It's importnat that he is still playing MU! And recently he had brithday (10th Aug) Leo man :flamer: !!!! Happy Birthday!!

Eagerly-awaited draw
In Monaco, the 32 teams will go into the draw taking place in the Salle des Princes at the Grimaldi Forum at 16.00CET. For the purposes of the draw, the clubs will be placed into four pots according to their coefficients (see below). No side can draw opponents from their own nation, other than holders Liverpool FC, who are without country protection after UEFA granted them special dispensation to defend the trophy. This means they could be pitted in the same section as English champions Chelsea FC, who they beat in the 2004/05 semi-finals.
Another Champions Leage season is about to start..let's hope that my boys will spare me other tragedies!!! ;)

Sorry for the double post but I wanted to write the results of yesterday's Champions League draft:

GROUP A: Bayern Monaco, Juventus, Bruges, Rapid Vienna.
GROUP B: Arsenal, Ajax, Sparta Praga, Thun.
GROUP C: Barcellona, Panathinaikos, Werder Brema, Udinese.
GROUP D: Manchester United, Villarreal, Lilla, Benfica.
GROUP E: MILAN, PSV Eindhoven, Schalke 04, Fenerbahce.
GROUP F: Real Madrid, Lione, Olympiakos, Rosenborg.
GROUP G: Liverpool, Chelsea, Anderlecht, Betis.
GROUP H: Inter, Porto, Rangers, Bratislava.

Quite an ironic draft since Milan has to go back to Eindhoven and to Istambul just as last year...the first match will be played at San Siro on the 13th of September VS. Fenerbache...I will be at the stadium!! Hope to see a good match and of course that my guys will win!

What do you guys think?
Domlegolas, MU's group seems OK!
Funny that Liverpool and Chelsea are in the same group..tough on I think!

Ps Our player Kaką got the award for best mid-fielder for last year's CL!! :yahoo:

GROUP H: Inter, Porto, Rangers, Bratislava.

Artmedia Bratislava is my club!!! I mean, I am not that big a football fan, but this is historic. Clubs from Slovakia don't usually take part in the Champions League. Not that we have a chance, but it's great to be there, anyway. I am disappointed, though, that we are not in a group with Manchester United. I'd very much like to see Ruud van Nistelrooy with my own eyes... :)

Anarion
August 27th,2005, 02:01 AM
I for one think Group G is amazing. EVERYONE saw it coming. It's funny mostly because it was that predictable (heated balls and all those UEFA conspiracies....;)). Heh. Although Betis was in Pot D, I think (and hope) they'll come out fighting and give Chelsea & Liverpool a hard time.

Group E is the closest this draw comes to a group of death, so I'm not thrilled with Milan being in that group. :( They'll make it through alright, but the CL will draw concentration away from the Serie A.

As usual, Arsenal got the easy group ......and I still don't understand how they edged Porto to wind up in Pot A. :hmppf: But anyway.

Manchester United/Villareal was a tie I wanted to avoid (and for that exact reason, I wasn't surprised when it was drawn ), because they're my La Liga team and I'll have split allegiances (although I'm a bigger fan of ManU, I have a tendency to cheer for the "underdog"...if you need any proof, I  West Brom, hehe). Plus watch Forlan come back and score a hat-trick or something....pffh.

On the whole, I'm pretty "meh" over the groups, nothing standout (besides G), it's pretty obvious -- major screw-ups notwithstanding -- who'll go through per group.

I've seen him when I go to Utd's Training Ground, and yes, he does look like a horse in real life lol

About the premiership now. The Refs are getting a lot stricter. Loads of Reds have already been shown, as have yellows. Quite dissapointing really, as with all the whistle blowings, the games are stop start instead of flowing.

I never heard it.... ?????.... Oh no it's nothing lol, don't worry...I just meant that the teams Milan face in the group stages -- although the Rossoneri can handily beat them -- the games will make it harder for Milan to focus their energy on the league...the games come at a critical point in the season. I don't remember all the fixtures, but one game requires Milan to play PSV away only two days after facing Juve in the league :o.
Loads of reds have been shownWhat's more alarming is how unnecessay and unjustified they have been....one statistic I read was that out of the 9 shown, 3 have been overturned. If Spurs appeal, I'm sure Mido's card today will be too.

Hi Anarion! I was really looking forward to hearing your opinion on these groups! I agree with you, with could have been luckier, but if we want to we something we shouldn't be scared of anybody. You can be sure that PSV will search for revenge for last season's matches, but they are a different team now, no Park no Van Bommel no Vogel. I don't know much about the other 2 teams apart that Shalke 04 won against Inter here in Milan  !
As for Serie A...did you see what happened yesterday??! we were playing in a pool and *gained* a little 1-1 against newbie Ascoli...were do we go from here??

Anarion
August 31st,2005, 02:29 AM
Yeah, I saw the match. The first ten minutes or so, I was laughing and counting down the minutes til the match would be stopped, but it wasn't!!! Any advantage Milan may have had for being the "classier" or "better" side just went out the window...if anyone is wondering what a "level playing field" looks like, that was it. Neither team could play....congrats to Sheva for getting a goal out of open play.

PSV lost Lee, too, I believe...but you're right, they're nowhere near the team that almost kicked us out last year. No revenge that I can see.... Schalke will be a toughie, they're really the only team that can challenge Bayern for the title this season. Fener might look a bit of a pushover, but in Istanbul, you never know...

Watched the coverage of Owen's unveiling...felt kind of bad for him, he looked a bit awkward with the "a savior has come!!" hysteria. But he handled himself well, under some tough questioning, too! lol Newcastle's attack looks very good now:

Manchester United 1 - 1 Manchester City :(
Alright result, I guess, at least Andy Cole didn't score. Man U desperately missed the width that Ronaldo brings to the game and desperately need a new CB or (Heinze can play in the center) a new LB. Also, wingbacks would be nice (that explains Cicinho interest). My condolences to Cristiano and his family, though.

Mediocre showing from Newcastle...but what else is new? ;)

Andy

I went to the Derby today! And i was so dissapointed by the lac of passion shown by our players. Apart from Smith and Rooney, no Utd player looked liked they wanted to get stuck in.

I think it's time Fergie left.

Anarion
September 11th,2005, 04:21 PM
Yeah, but what was up with Rooney? He kept making these amazing runs and then tripping over his own feet!! I don't know about Fergie leaving, it depends on what he does in January and how we play throughout the season. Also, what with all the back room changes, I think the team needs some sense of stability.

Milan 3 - 1 Siena. (woo! Inter lost!! :))
Ambro is definitely pushing to start over Gattuso! I also thought Stam was enjoying himself a lot at RB, I'm glad Carletto found a way to keep the Maldini-Nesta pairing together without excluding Stam. Also, playing Cafu & Sergio (as wingbacks) doesn't work. Serginho's much better attacking, doesn't have the same defensive quality that Cafu has. Gila did not look confident - did everything right, couldn't find the back of the net, though. I know it's early into the season, but Milan needs to finish their chances better and work at defending high balls into the box -- both goals this season have been conceded that way.

Andy
September 11th,2005, 05:07 PM
No Fergie has stayed too long now. He has done well at the club, but there is always a time when you need to move on.

I guess it just wasn't Rooneys day in the attack. He played amazing, just the final move didn't work. Unlucky I guess.

CL this week! I'll be getting Real Betis v Liverpool, Villarreal v Manchester Utd, and Milan v Fenerbahce on TV, which is nice, being as usual coverage consists of 1 game per week!
I don't care for Liverpool, so I would love to see Betis get the win at home ;).
Villarreal just lost Riquelme over the weekend and he probably won't be risked on Wednesday; dunno how much that will affect Villa, but ManU should come away with a win, whether or not Ronaldo decides to play. I also want to see Giggs starting, with Park coming on late. Hopefully, if Keane starts, we'll be up by a couple goals early in the game and then take him off to rest (Liverpool next week!)....but you never know.
Milan should deal with Fener pretty handily. I'd start Vieri up front with Sheva, and give Gila a bit of rest. Gattuso-Pirlo-Serginho midfield.

I've seen the match and apart from 2 or 3 Siena actions I wasn't really worried about our victory. Gila is still to shy..even if all the team and the stadium supported him, he still deos not seem a rossonero yet. But he will be a true one soon!
Ambro was great, did you see how happy he was after his goal, his hand on the heart...what a great captain he would be!
Kaką & Sheva: unique as usual, Stam playing decently at last.
and, as you said, INTER LOST :yahoo: :p

Milan should deal with Fener pretty handily. I'd start Vieri up front with Sheva, and give Gila a bit of rest. Gattuso-Pirlo-Serginho midfield.
I'll be at San Siro tonight..hope to see a great show! I'm pretty sure that Sheva & VIeri will play from the beginning (Vieri did not play in serie A for the past 2 matches because of a red card he got in the last game, last season and so he's fresh and willing to *show his qualities*)
there's also a chance for Ambro to play together with Gattuso..but these are only theories...we will see! :)

Anarion I wish you were there with me too...you wouldn't have your voice by now, but you'd be in awe...Kaką's goals...2 pearls...San Siro bowed to him, what a great player! Read what Sheva said after the match:
‘It was a difficult match that was resolved by a great player. Ricky deserves everyone’s applause. If I give up the Golden Ball, I would give it to Kaka. A champion like that doesn’t need any words, just leave him to play. Bobo or Gilardino also could have scored today, both did a lot for the team. Even if they didn’t score, the group is the important thing. I believe in the group. In difficult moments we will pull out the determination, today it touched Kaka, tomorrow another.’
I couldn't agree more with him!
We had our now usual black out...Gattuso shouldn't have attacked Anelka like that...the penalty was clear as the sun :-/ After their goal we had a bad moment...but when Kaką decides that the game is over...there's nothing you can do!

As for the other matches...I couldn't believe it, what happened to Real? I know that Ronaldo wasn't in, but hey are they or are they not the Galacticos?? :nono:

Inter won..PSV, Chelsea & Liverpool did too...it will be a tough fight! :flamer:

Richardson was a pleasant surprise though. Van der Sar = MotM for obvious reasons. Keano once upon a time had an unpleasant temper too when he came to United, so hopefully Roo can learn from that and begin to channel all that frustration/anger/overall negativity/etc into playing better, like Keane did.

I'm just worried about Liverpool this Sunday. I hope he has a mind-blowing match, if only just to silence his critics. The injury list will probably make it an uncomfortably tight game, though. Smithy, Rooney, Richardson...all need to have superb games. And Silvestre, if he can stop nodding off every so often (did better against Villa), that would be great. ;) Bardsley would be a nice option over O'Shea. *grumble grumble* Gaby, Gary, Fortune, Keano, Brown, Saha (has he ever been fit??)....:( I really hate injuries. I really really do. Man Utd losing today was not a good thing. I was there and we actually booed the team, and we haven't booed the team in years. Ferguson needs to listen to the crowd who are shouting for a 4-4-2 formation. As it is us who decide whether he stays in the job or not, as if he doesn't have the fans support then the board will sack him.

Anarion
September 25th,2005, 01:06 AM
No, Man Utd losing today was a very good thing. It means there's no hiding behind this garbage 4-3-3 anymore. Unless he's incredibly daft, Fergie will see that now and stop trying to play with it. We don't have the players for it. More specifically, Scholes cannot and will not ever function in it.

But more than just Ferguson and the formation, I think some of the blame has got to fall on the players as well. Especially with Rooney out in CL, they are under massive pressure to perform and to do well, regardless of what else is going on. They have got to respond and have got to step up and show their worth.

Andy
September 25th,2005, 04:49 PM
We have too many players in that team who are not good enough, and Fergie is not being tough enough to get rid of them. Examples are John O'Shea and Kieran Richardson. This is the biggest crisis in 15 years to hit Fergie I have been told.

and hey did you hear that today is Christian's (Paolo Maldini's first son) first day as a little Milan player? I love the idea that Milan will ALWAYS have a Maldini fighter!!

As for yesterday...

TREVISO - MILAN 0-2 (0-1)
Marcatori: al 44’ del pt Shevchenko, al 28’ del st Gilardino.

we did not play well...but at least we won..and nowadays this is really something + Gilardino gained the penalty and scored a cool goal. Sheva and Kaką played their usual 7 rating match..but more attention even from them would be welcome!! (too demanding?? :p )

I finally got around to watching the game this afternoon, we got the win well enough but yeah, we didn't play all that well...let Treviso come a little bit too close sometimes and Pirlo & Kaka (prob. because he kept getting fouled!) looked off as well. Very happy for Gila, getting his 2nd goal...overall, good result going into Wednesday's game.

And as far as ManU is concerned, not-so-good morale going into tomorrow's game, what with injuries to just about everyone and Rooney out. GAAH. Just read that Silvestre isn't fit either....so we could be seeing Bardsley, Pique, and Richardson in the defense :o :o :o Unless O'Shea is fit. And let's hope...'cause I'd rather see JOS in the center than that back line.

But in any case, it's BENFICA. I don't feel too good about it, but I think we'll win it...that is, with a 4-4-2 and Rossi/Park/Giggs/Blake pairing Ruud.

Man Utd played well, but still not up to their usual standards. At least we won. I am really impressed by that bardsley, he could be the future replacement for Neville.

Silly Inter couldn't do us a favor, but...GO PAOLO!! :yahoo: Hehe my commentators were hoping that Milan would get a penalty because they wanted to know whether Shevchenko would let Maldini take it and score a hat-trick! lol On the not-so-plus side, what's wrong with Vieri? He's just one big storming cloud of perptual bad luck! Once Sheva came off instead of him, I knew we weren't going to score...

On the England side of life -- Liverpool couldn't do us (or themselves) a favor, but PARK -- :yahoo:. 2nd best signing of the offseason. Kieran looks better and better each week and Smith held his own well enough for having to occasionally cover to Fletch and O'Shea. Oh, and did we just score 3 goals in 45 minutes?? :o That's right....4-4-2 ;) On the not-so-plus side, what's wrong with Rio? And why is O'Shea still playing??

Overall, good footie weekend for me....Milan won, Man U won, PSG won, and Spain is still looking interesting (mostly because Rooney showed up to the Real-Mallorca game........eh?) Looking forward to qualifiers next week!

Anarion...I'm so happy for us and for THE CAPTAIN that I don't care about Sheva's selfishness or Vieri's bad luck...Maldini is our soul and as long as he will be able to give us strenght..I'm not worried!
And as for inter...they are hopeless..a draw would have been better for us but (even if it sound wrong) if I have to choose between inter and juve I go for the black&whites all the way...you can't imagine what we had to bear last may...so, no mercy for the losers!!!! lol

And now as you said let's see the qualifiers matches! Hope that Italy will close the issue as soon as possible!

I didn't watch the game (will in about an hour), can't wait to see Pippo! :loveyou:

Sunderland 1 - 3 Manchester United
Hehe I love that tingly feeling I get when I think of the younger kids who will be breaking into the first team (Rossi, Blake, Pique, Jones,...)! VdS again showing he's worth more than we bought him for, and Ferguson, see what happens with a 4-4-2? 3 goals in the last two games! This is definitely a game we would have tied (or even lost) last season, so it feels good to win it (even if it is Sunderland). Ronaldo has been in mediocre form over the last few games (understandably), so hopefully Giggsy will be back for Lille.

Andy, who do you think Fergie will play up top with Ruud (assuming he goes 4-4-2)?

It depends on who is injured I guess. If Rooney is available to play then he will. But seeing as he isn't, he might just put Scholes into the "behind the striker" role. I can't see him starting Rossi, but he may play him at some part in the game. I'll just have to see who starts when I'm there tonight :p

Andy, who do you think Fergie will play up top with Ruud (assuming he goes 4-4-2)?Pfft. My mistake. I don't care where Scholes was listed on that little sheet of paper, that was not a 4-4-2. That was a 4-5-1. (Oh I'm sorry, did I say 4-5-1? I meant 4-3-3 ...)

He's been playing his way out of the starting XI since the beginning of a season and while I'm not glad that he's suspended, it will force change in the lineup. Also wtf with the incredibly late sub? Park should have come on at half time (at the very least at the hour) for Scholes, with Ronaldo playing just behind Ruud. A poor display from almost everyone...Needless to say, this team is frighteningly dependent on Rooney. :-/

A kind of sidenote, but I'm getting increasingly frustrated with Ronaldo. He's obviously not been playing well and he needs to ride the bench until he earns a starting place. While his pace is a huge part of his game, he goes running blindly and tries to take on the whole freaking defense without looking up once to put a cross in or try to create for others. He started tracking a bit deeper towards the end of the game, helping out defensively *a little* (for once!), but really Park should have been out there from the start, and proved it by showing more invention in about 10 minutes than the rest of the team did the whole game.

Oh, and Park as Captain = lol

How was the game from where you were sitting?

I agree with you completely. Park should be playing all the time as he is on great form. By keeping him on the bench he is wondering what he is doing wrong and thereby wrecking his confidence.

I had some awesome seats, I sit there quite a lot too. It's about 10 rows up from the touchline at the part where they come out of the tunnel and walk down the side of the pitch.

On other news, what do you think about Ronaldo being arrested last night on accusation of rape? I know there have been a lot of failed cases against footballers in the past because of lieing women, but you can't be assumptions based off previous cases. I hope he didn't do it though, it would be a shame to waste a talent like his.

I went to a (pre-season) United game two years ago and sat in a section of loud (by that I mean loud lol) fans from England...great great atmosphere, but it must be 100x better when United is playing a meaningful game!
On other news, what do you think about Ronaldo being arrested last night on accusation of rape?I don't understand your system terribly well (in the US, arrested = charged), but apparently he wasn't charged with anything yet...so that's good news. If he didn't do it, what hurts me most is that Ronnie's career was damaged the second he was accused -- b/c even if he bounces back to play the best football of his life (a la Becks), how do you remove the stigma of "accused rapist"? :( But if he really did do it, then by all means - lock him up and let him spend the rest of his life knowing he could have been one of the greatest players in the world, but let it all go down the drain over one stupid night.

Oy, almost forgot: predictions for the game tomorrow! I expect to see 4-3-3/4-5-1 with Fergie playing for the draw , but what I want to see is a Park-Smith-Fletch-Ronaldo mid. I think this will either be 0-0 or 3-1, depending on what formation we use.

Yeah, the atmosphere is always loud, even on the Pre-season. But yeah, it's really something when a big game is on. Or the Manchester Derby lol

Well in the UK being arrested just means you are taken in for questioning, and then they decide whether to charge you or not after that.

Midfield today should by Park-Smith-Fletcher-Ronaldo as you said. And I would have Rossi-Rooney up front. But I can't see that happening. I was watching the Reserves play on MUTV and Rossi scored an awesome gola too. Him and Sylvan-Blake are something to look forward to. They got about 30 goals between them as a partnership last season in the reserves.

Him and Sylvan-Blake are something to look forward to. They got about 30 goals between them as a partnership last season in the reserves.I'm not sure how ready Blake is for the first team, though. He seems to be tearing it up with the reserves and he's been training with the senior team too, but from the very little I've been able to see, Rossi definitely seems like more of a "finished product", so to speak. Exciting as Rossi-Blake sounds though, I can't see Ferguson throwing on two forwards of minimal height...which is why while Ruud's around/healthy, I don't think Rossi will ever start up front with Roo. :(

I'm not sure how we played today (I couldn't watch), but it sounds, from most accounts, like we should have won. :(
Luckily, there was plenty of fun to be had elsewhere around England:
- Liverpool lost. To Fulham.
- City lost.
- "How NOT to Take a Penalty Kick (Unless You are Cruyff)", by Robert Pires. (http://www.uploadsend.com/complete.php?filepath=1689)
- Wigan in 4th :o would be a lot funnier if we weren't behind them.

Andy

Well first half we were all over them, second half we got lazy. Seems to be the new trend at Old Trafford.

Lately Ruud seems to be way off the mark, it's like he's lost a yard or two. I know he is scoring, thing is they seem to be all easy goals, it's not like he has done anything awesome to get it.

Middlesbrough 4 - 1 Manchester United
 :thud:
Only got to watch the first half (lucky me ..), but....wow. I don't think I've ever seen United play so uncohesively. I've defended Fergie for a while now, but really - he's tactically inept and he can't motivate them the way he used to...I still don't think any decision should be made at this point, but if play doesn't pick up soon, then..... *sigh*:( Maybe this is just emotions talking. Oh, and if O'Shea is allowed to even watch a United game ever again, I might hurt someone verymad. Only plus was how incredible Rooney is. He looked amazing out there, trying to hard to get done what everyone else refused to. He never stopped, never gave up, tried to carry the team on his back. Lucky for me, after I returned home and checked the score, my anger was (semi-)relieved as I also discovered...

Milan 3 - 1 Juventus!
:yahoo: 9 games, what? Oh I love it when people write Milan off and plaster Juventus all over their predictions...it just makes winning that much sweeter! Poor Sheva on the sidelines looked like he was dying to get in on this match! Beautiful team effort, we were absolutely solid the whole way through in all areas of the field. The goals weren't pretty and the play sure wasn't either (I'm lookin' at you, Mutu), but at the end of the day all that matters is: 9 games, what? :shhh: And Gattuso, bless his heart! Isn't the most skillful by a long shot, but he played with the passion of all the fans and sacrificed himself for the team :brave:.

Oy what an up-down day for me. I guess this is the benefit of having 2 teams..?

Manchester United 1 - 0 Chelsea

Yes, it did happen! Utd ended Chelsea's 40 game unbeaten run, just like they ended Arsenal's 49 game run.

Fletcher scored a looping header which went in at the back-post. But Chelsea played well in the second half, and Utd were lucky to keep them from scoring. Overall, go Utd :D
